History

Established in 1998.

In 1998 Nix Termite was launched with the goal of providing the community with a full-​service, environmentally-​friendly pest control company, providing fumigation and pest control services to homeowners, corporations, and associations serving the San Diego County area.

Nixtermite specializes in pest, termite control and repairs, while providing customers with knowledge of how and why we do our job. Chris has worked in the pest and termite industry since 1988 and holds the following licensing: Operators license with the structural pest control board of California (OPR9816), a California general contractors license (CSLB #969 742), certification for Water damage restoration specialist and Mold Technician with the IICRC and has certified Nix Termite as a Lead safe company.

Chris was born in Los Angeles County in 1965 to Joseph and Élan Aguilar. The Family (2 brothers and a sister) soon thereafter moved to Orange County, CA where he grew up.

Chris spent his youth surfing and body-​boarding, along with his schooling, until going to college for his general Education at Cypress College in CA. and then Utah Valley Univ. for business.

After college he began his pest control career in 1988 by going to work for Terminix Intl. After 10 years with Terminix he decided it was time to forge a new path and in 1998 Nix Termite was realized.

Today Nix Termite is family owned and operated. Chris currently holds and operators license with the structural pest control board of California (OPR9816), a California general contractors license (CSLB #969 742), a certification in Water damage restoration and a Mold Technician status with IICRC. His company is also and is certified as a Lead safe company.

Chris is married, lives in Bonita CA with his loving wife and children.

Excellent service from all people at Nix Termite for recent tenting and extensive wood repair due to dry rot. From Eric’s inspection to all the people involved in both phases of this job, everybody was thorough and worked to high standards. Additionally, everybody was polite and pleasant to deal with — and no language problems. I intend to continue doing business with Nix with their warranty program. I highly recommend this company and hope you have the satisfaction that I have had.

Alright, fumigation was done as proposed and I am hoping I don’t see termites ever again. I am changing my review to 5 stars based solely on Chris’s efforts as the owner to earn my business and trust. He has done everything he could to make sure I am happy which is appreciated. When I did not receive a call as promised from the fumigation company about their arrival to start time Chris reached out to them after hours and got me a time frame. This was important because I had to get my skittish Labrador to where she was going to stay while the house was tented.
Additionally Chris read my mind when he sent me an email with what time the house would be clear to return.
Now a happy customer. I recommend if you do have concerns with any interaction with NIx you reach out to Chris. He takes pride in delivering total customer satisfaction and will do his best to make things right.

I recently purchased a older home which received a false clearance from an very unreliable termite company. It is a horrible feeling to be facing these issues tied to such a large investment without the necessary expertise to plot the next best steps. I took the search for a reliable and trustworthy termite company very seriously and selected NixTermite. I was correct in my choice! Nix was able to come to my home and provide a clear and honest estimate as well as valuable advice for the house moving forward. I have already recommended them to family members and neighbors. I had a very pleasant experience with this company. From the office staff, Veronica, Norma and Isabel to the repair person that came to my home Hector, I was extremely impressed and satisfied with their professionalism. I actually had the opportunity to speak to all three women in the office because I was «shopping» around for the best price for the service I needed. All three of them were very efficient and polite and provided great customer service. Hector came and did the repairs that were recommended and he was very courteous, punctual and explained in great detail all the work that would be done. I would with no doubt recommend this company to all my family and friends.

I called NixTermite after being recommended by a good friend and they were awesome! I decided to get several bids as well but Nix was the best in all areas by far. Veronica and Norma in the office were so helpful and friendly. They took the time to explain everything to me because this is the first time I’m tenting my house and didn’t know what to expect. The inspector Mike was so knowledgeable and was even able to match another companies quote. Everything went as planned and I can’t thank all of the staff enough for their hard work.

Just got my house inspected by Ricardo Rodriguez for termites. The job took no longer than 15 minutes which I consider very quick. He inspected each space in my house including drawers and closets. They have very competitive prices especially over Terminix and probably do a more quality job too. Must go with NixTermite!

When I first got my house inspected by Chris, I was very pleased; he explained with great detail the damages and he also informed me they do repairs with competitive prices. I liked the idea! Received the estimate only a couple of days later. My estimate was good only for 6 months and I was ready to do the treatment and repairs nine months later. Since I liked the great customer service received by Chris, I decided to schedule a new inspection. I was pleasantly surprised; I was told I could schedule my termite treatment with the old estimate. So far so good!
I scheduled it and left the house from Saturday to Monday. The disappointment came when I returned to my house and I had no gas. The customer service girls, nor Veronica or Isabel remembered to convey valuable information. They were very clear and explained they would schedule the gas shut off with SDG&E, but they never told me that:
1. I was going to be without gas since Friday. So, I did not prepare for that.
2. They never advised me I was in charge of calling SDG&E to reconnect gas. So, another unexpected day without gas.
However, the reason I decided to give 4 stars is because I just had my repairs done by two great people, Arnold and Hector, they were very polite, did a great job and explained the repairs done. They have great customer service. They even put a couple of nails to three pieces of fence that were loose. They definitely performed beyond expectations.
I would only improve customer service from the ladies that schedule services and repairs. I was expecting a call a day before the repair to confirm and learn the approximate time the repair crew would arrive. It did not happen. Hector and Arnold arrived at a time I wasn’t home, thankfully the gate was open for them to start working without me being home.

My experience with Ricardo from NixTermite was very deceiving and non transparent. I must agree tho the inspector did a thorough job, but unwilling to communicate any information of what needs to be done to correct the issues that were found. The report of the inspection was VERY basic and vague that listed the issues with general locations without much descriptions. Pictures of the areas would be very nice also but i know it isnt required. Along with the report was a bid for the repairs to the home, again with no descriptions of what the repairs would be, just a bid that states, it will cost you 1200 to repair your home, also you will need to fumigate the home for another 1400 even tho i already fumigated the home last year. I dont know about you guys, but i would like to know what the repairs are and see the cost breakdown of why it is what it is. simple request to see where my money is going.
I called ricardo to speak to him about his inspection of my home. I begin asking him about the report and about what repairs were needed so i can see the areas myself. He was very defensive and with-​holding the facts about the inspection. He finally did share some information about what the repairs were but again, being vague and did not want to go into how he came up with the bid amount for the repairs.
Chris the owner of the company contacted me to address the issues that I had with his technician. He was very helpful and actually listened to what I had to say. He reinspected my home and give me very descriptive infomation of what needs to be done. Chris also give me helpful information to move my refinance along. The work completed was done by Hector, he was very professional, his work was to standard and made sure all the areas that needed to be addressed were taken care of, but did missed a few spots that I had to paint over myself. But overall good experience with this company.

NixTermite showed up on time for a termite inspection. Mike was a friendly guy and performed a very thorough inspection that identified many more areas that had termite damage than the seller’s termite inspection (performed only 1 month earlier). Their price was on par with other companies, but their work is top notch. The only tiny issue that Mike finished his inspection and left without letting me know. He spoke with my realtor, who was on-​site as well, about the findings, but it was odd that the person who hired him and is going to pay NixTermite was left out of the loop. Again, very minor issue and the their top notch work is what’s important.

We bought our house in April of 2015. Nixtermite did the fumigation as per the sellers. In late June we discovered that termites were still present. I called Nixtermite and with no resistance they tented and fumigated the house again. During the process of them coming out to inspect before the fumigation, I had pointed out some wood that was supposed to be replaced before we were to move in. Nixtermite sent out Hector Villegas to do the work. I wasn’t able to be home while he was replacing the damaged siding and other other repairs. When I got home from work he was already finished and had gone home. The workmanship Hector had done on our house was impeccable! The paint matched perfect, and a clean job. A great worker and extremely trustworthy gentleman. I would recommend Hector Villegas to do the work on your house if you need damaged wood or anything else repaired.

I discovered termite damage on the front eave of my house when I was painting. I was concerned and made an appointment with Nix Termite to come and provide a quote for fumigation. The inspector showed up within the time frame and walked the perimeter of the property giving the house a thorough inspection. He showed me areas that may be affected but advised that this was not an urgent condition. I was planning on rushing the tenting of the house because my solar panels are to be installed in 2 weeks. However, the inspector assured me that it is not an issue and that based on his assessment, I do not need tenting right away. He also told me that they tent houses with solar panels all of the time so it is not an issue to have it done after the panels are installed. He made very helpful recommendations and put me at ease in regards to my house.
Down the road, when I do decide to have my house tented and fumigated, I would not hesitate to use Nix Termite. They are extremely knowledgeable about what they do, and I felt that their primary concern was making suggestions that best benefit the customer rather than pressing another sale. Yesterday Ricardo Rodriguez from Nix Termite came out to inspect my house. He was *outstanding*. He called me ahead of time to confirm when he would arrive. When he was here, he was extremely friendly, professional, and polite– and most importantly, did a fantastic job inspecting my house. He answered all of my questions; walked (and talked) me through the entire process; and by the time he left, I not only felt completely confident that the house was pest-​free (I had a piece of furniture that was delivered with an infestation, so I was worried it had spread to the house), but also understood the quality and architecture of my home a lot better! It was really a pleasant experience (and the inspection was completely free) — I couldn’t recommend Nix more strongly. Thanks, Ricardo!!!

These guys are really good. Had some trouble getting started. The original appointment guy showed up an hour late, and I had to call them to find out where he was. Communications with the office was fair. But once they arrived to do the work, it was A+ service.
Hector showed up and went above and beyond to remove the gutters and old wood, then replaced everything with new wood, repainted, and made everything look new. He couldn’t find the right boards at the local lumber yard, so he made them, and they looked great. Hector treated me like family, and I was amazed he finished so quickly with such good quality. Took him like 3 hours, including a trip to the lumber yard.
I’d call these guys back in a heartbeat, as long as they send Hector again!

The many good reviews here made us choose Nixtermite, especially after we had a good experience with the inspection. However the rest of our experience with Nixtermite was days of irritations and frustrations.
Nix sequence of events
Sunday
1. They did not call us, despite 3 numbers provided, to set «2 – 3 hour» window for start of job. Instead, we happened to find a message on the answering machine at the vacant house to be fumigated that gave a 4 hour time of 1 – 5.
Monday
2. Our friend was there from 12:30 — 7:30pm. They never called any of us to notify of a time change.
At 5:00 when no one had come, we were not able to contact them because the office was closed.
3. We called Ricardo, left a message on his phone. We live out of area and needed the help of our friend and hoped for good customer service from Nixtermite.
4. Husband called Ricardo, and he said the subcontractors had told him (Ricardo) that they should arrive in the next 30 minutes. That would have meant they would be there by 5:45. Note: we were never notified of a subcontractor, nor was one listed on the work order/​contract, which is illegal.
5. Our friend waited until 7:30, no one had come.
6. Tuesday morning
Husband talked to Ricardo at 7:30am. He told David the house had been covered.
friend found the house had been covered some time during the night. (It had been covered at 11:30pm.)
(wasn’t that disruptive to the neighbors? And again, illegal?)
7. Husband asked when they would meet friend at house to get the keys, he had to call back. Friend was at the house, and could stay for an hour. When husband told Ricardo this, he said they could not get there until later. Husband insisted on a time, and Ricardo said 5:00pm. He asked them to communicate with friend.
8. At 7:15pm I got a message from friend that no one had called him.
9. Husband started calling Ricardo at 5:00pm. Ricardo’s phone went straight to voicemail, and he finally called back at 7:30pm, when he asked for someone to be there at 7:30am, Wednesday morning. We cancelled the contract at this time. I emailed the office with the same information, stating the contract was now null and void.
Wednesday
10. Ricardo called husband at 8:15am. Offered to do work for $ 850. Husband drove all the way to house (2 hours away) and found no tent on house and Nixtermite nowhere to be found. Called Ricardo, he knew nothing about the tent being taken off and said he would be at house soon.
The work was finally finished, but the while thing was a dibacle, unprofessional and in some instances illegal.
We would not recommend Nixtermite.

We bought our house a year ago this week. It was fumigated during the buying process, I was dealing with another extermination company (not Nix) after the house was completed and they did not do as well as I thought they should nor were they completely interested in doing better.
That was definitely not the case with Nix Termite. Chris (owner) came out for a free inspection I explained the situation to me and he suggested that I continue to deal with the other company and try to have them get it right. I then showed him the areas of concern and he explained termites and how fumigation works and how often it needs to be done. He even said that if I had issues with the other company he would come back out and do a write up in case I needed to talk to the California Board for pest control.
He really took his time and I felt informed after his visit. He showed up promptly at the time of the appointment.
I really appreciate the time he took to help me and he did not try to SELL me anything other than on his company and on him, and I am sold. If I need termite services in the future Nix will be my first call.

My family were going to close a house deal in a very short time. So I called them in short notice and asked them if they can squeeze my requested time in any way possible.
However, my house deal didn’t happen, and I forgot to call them and cancel the appointment. The inspector showed up at the house on time, waited long and finally called me to check where I was.
I was so embarrassed that i was a no show, but scheduled them to show up, and wasted one of their appointment time.
However, the professional inspector was very kind and forgiving. He told me he won’t charge me anything this time, and hope I will still choose to use their service next time if I ever need to use the termite control service again.

Laura Nixon was extremely helpful and courteous. She booked us an appointment quickly for the following week.
Inspector Chris Aguilar inspected our home this afternoon. He was prompt, thorough, and very professional. Chris also provided us with additional information on ant control.
I would definitely recommend Nix Termite to family and friends.

We wanted to get an inspection of our Sorrento Valley home in order to sell it. Since NixTermite had a great rating on Unilocal,we decided to give them a call — it’s clear that the rating is well deserved.
NixTermite was quick to respond back with a time they could come inspect that was convenient for us. On the day of the inspection, they called to say there was some heavy traffic due to an accident, and they’d be a few minutes late. NixTermite arrived exactly when they projected (yay!).
The inspection itself was very quick — roughly 45 minutes of looking inside and out, in the attic and around all the corners of the house and yard. The person doing the inspection was extremely friendly, and answered all my questions about «what are you looking for?» and «what would the treatment for that be?».
In the end, there was no evidence of any wood destroying pests (yay again!), and the report was sent via email less than a day after the inspection. Overall it was great service, and I won’t hesitate to call NixTermite again.
