This place is amazing! It turns a nursery into an art form. The displays and plants are eye candy, even the front gate is pure art. I love supporting a local business especially one like this where the price, selection, and quality exceed the big name establishments. I am a loyal customer and look forward to future visits. It’s one of those places puts you in a good mood just from being there.

The staff is so knowledgeable about their products and they are super friendly! They don’t push you to buy anything and they answered all of my questions and even made some awesome suggestions!
The prices are super affordable with good taken care of quality plants!

This place is awesome! I love supporting local small businesses. I came in looking for herbs and I left with herbs and more plants for my garden! There prices are super reasonable and the customer service was amazing! I will definitely be coming back and never buying herbs from sprouts, trader joes or Home Depot again!

The reason i would go to an independent nursery like City Farmers or Mission Hills Nurserys that have been around forever, as opposed to, say, Anderson or Home Depot, is customer service, which means someone, anyone, who actually knows something about the plants. Both times i went there were young girls working who, while very nice, knew nothing. At all. One time there was a guy, named Steve, who did seem to know, had a bit of an attitude, and could not really follow what he was saying. Its nice to have a place in my neighborhood, so i hope they fix it up. nice plants, small selection. The hose i bought for 25 bucks sucked, within a few weeks it was bending. waste.

What a great experience! We were greeted by friendly and knowledgeable staff and made most welcome! My husband was inchanted that he found EVERYTHING on his list on one location and I had the great fun of a good browse while he was doing his shopping. I noticed some terrific gift items, as well as garden related books and accessories. My gift shopping for the holidays was just made easier. Thank you North Park Nursery staff! I very much enjoyed my visit today and I will be back!

I have a miniature rose that was close to dying. It had insects and fungus on the plant. I wanted to rescue it as it is sentimental to me.
I called to see if there was anything I can do on my part. I spoke with Dustin who is the nurseries Horticulturist. I explained what was happening, and I what action I have taken up to this point. With all that said. I drove to the nursery with my rose. So glad that I did. Dustin not only showed me what I have done wrong, but also thought me how to replant, trim, and nourish the rose. Final results… thriving, flourishing, and hopefully blooming rose. That I hope to keep for many years to come.
I bought the Safer 3-​in-​1 spray, and the rose fertilizer. Plus, I received a 10% discount for checking in with Unilocal.
This n’ that: The layout of the store is open and airy. They seem to have a section for all their needs. We were standing in the potting section. This allowed other customers to roam around the store without being in there way. Yet accessible if they had any questions for Dustin.
The parking is small. 4 spots with one for the Handicapped. There is street parking but it could be a challenge. This is the only downside I see at this time.
They accept all forms of payment. I am guessing on this one as I paid cash.

I was helped by a knowledgeable and friendly staff member as soon as I walked in. She helped me pick out the perfect indoor plant, rang me up and potted the plant for me. Great experience and happy to support a business in my neighborhood.

We walked in a few months and purchased a few small succulents. The fact that it’s locally owned and still had relatively competitive prices was a big draw. We came back recently and was surprised by all the neat odds and ends they’ve added to the shop… great gifts for your gardening friends and family. We’ll be back!

Just moved into North Park from a small apartment with 0 outdoor space in San Francisco and was excited to fill my new outdoor space (yay!) with drought-​tolerant, native plants. Excited to find this place just around the corner and on my 1^st visit the 2 folks were super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Heading back in a few days to buy more plants and glad to support a local business!

First time in & I loved it! Prices are good, plants are healthy & there’s a great selection of flowers, trees, succulents & gifts too! I chose a cool cactus for my birthday present but will return next week when the lavender plants are back in stock. The staff is very helpful & the vibe is so comfortable so I really loved the whole experience & plan to shop here for my garden needs. Shopping locally is totally the way to go, & North Park nursery makes it fun.

I see so much potential in this nursery.

I was really excited to see a nursery open a block away from my apartment. I have been wanting to check it out for a long time and finally found myself walking around town. I have to say I was charmed by the selection of plants and the staff seemed very nice. I was amazed at the prices! Everything was very reasonably priced and not crazily marked up like all these other boutiques around North Park. I got a large jade plant for 8 $ and 3 air plants in cute glass bulbs. I walked out of there for less than 30 $! I will definitely come back. I look forward to finally having some lush greenery on my patio and inside my apartment!

I think this place is adorable and if I actually had a decent amount of space to plant/​beautify with succulents I would be a regular here. We were helped by Steve (I believe that was his name) and he answered any and all our questions as well as offered us a tour of the nursery itself. Very friendly guy.

I want to start by saying that I’ve been a loyal customer for a long time. And have always had a wonderful experience at their old location and really appreciated the fair prices and excellent service! I was anxiously awaiting the opening of the 2.0 location since it’s only 2 blocks from my house! I was so excited for the move and the new space. And had I written a review prior to the move (sorry I didn’t) I would have given them 5 stars!
I visited the new location for the first time 2 weeks ago, the Sunday after Thanksgiving (the biggest shopping weekend of the year) and was really disappointed. I spent about 15 minutes walking around checking it out and was not greeted at all by either of the employees the entire time (I recognized neither of them). They went about their business as if I wasn’t even there. I was there, cash in hand to buy a lot of stuff and ended up feeling simply out of place.
I was really disappointed with the selection. Lots of wrapped up Christmas trees and poinsettias galore, but most of the regular stock was missing. Some succulents and a scant selection of edibles. I know it is a bigger space, but I really did feel as if a lot was actually missing.
Maybe it is due to the recent move as well as it being the holiday season. But this is sunny San Diego. We can luckily grow all year round. And I was really bummed when I couldn’t find any herbs at all. I ended up leaving empty handed. Maybe had an employee approached me to offer assistance and an explanation I wouldn’t have felt so defeated. But they were both off somewhere watering or something.
I’m going to drop by in the next few days and hopefully things have been sorted out a bit better. I’m eager to re-​review and leave 5 stars!
