OEX Point Loma

I work as a sales rep on the East Coast for a local San Diego brewery, yet I get to come back to my hometown every quarter for a sales meeting. Last time I visited, I saw OEX’s SUPs on the dock, and I told myself the next time I was back I was going to SUP for the first time.
IT WAS AMAZING!!!
Eric, the owner and I chatted for about 20 minutes. Super awesome dude! Ask him anything about SUP’ing– he’s been in the industry for over a decade. And after a 5 minute instructional on the dock, I pushed off on my knees to be greeted by a pair of playing sea lions about 15 yards in front of me. It was better than I ever could have imagined– weaving between priceless boats and talking to the locals working on them, and exploring the harbor’s beautiful views.
I will do this every time I come back… And I will be thinking about it every day until then. You created an addict Eric.

Eric set me up with a super nice surf SUP at a really good price. The shop has a great collection of different sup’s, paddles, and accessories. Thanks Eric!

My wife and I found a coupon to go paddleboarding for the first time. The owner was very informative and helped us get on our way. Its a nice little marina to paddle around it and would do it again.

Excellent recreation items to rent/​buy. Come on in and get some exercise while you sightsee. Only a half hour on bike to gaslamp. Good way to exercise and have fun

My friends and I wanted to go kayaking/​paddle boating. We found this place which was pretty close to the place we stayed at. The bay it self was nice and a lot of people were there kayaking/​padding or doing other water activities. The staff was really nice, it does get a little hectic so be ready!
It was definitely a fun and affordable experience would highly recommend it to people. P. S. Make sure to wear trunks as I wore regular shorts and I got pretty soaked.

Three friends and I purchased groupons to go kayaking and we had so much fun! It wasn’t bad at all for 2 hours and trust me, two hours is a fair amount of time, especially for first-​timers!

I found a Groupon for OEX when I was planning a group Kayaking trip and thought the price was worth the try. Upon arrival, I was greeted right when I walked in the door. I let the gentleman know we needed two single kayaks and one tandem. He let us know that it would be a short wait, which was fine. There were lots of SUP Boards to look at and sandals.
When it was our time, we put on our floatation devices and headed over to the docks. An OEX employee helped us into our kayaks, told us the rules and off we went.
I really like the launch of location. Since it’s more enclosed, you aren’t fighting ocean waves the whole time even if there is wind. There are lots of boat docks to kayak around, but you can also get great views of the city! With lots to see, it makes the options almost endless in the couple hours I was out there.
Couple things to keep in mind:
1. The earlier, the better, if you are with a group. Midday seemed like their busiest time.
2. They are first come, first serve.

This was a blast! I went SUP’ing with my sisters and we had a private lesson with Eric. He’s terrific! Definitely a fun day on the water!

Eric is the owner, and we were most pleased with his stand up paddle boarding class. He was very friendly, kind and helpful and went above and beyond in teaching the class to my family. It’s always a pleasure to do business with good people. His store is also well equipped with beautiful boards, flip flops and clothing. We will be back again! Thanks, Eric!

Very helpful staff, great price, and they were able to accommodate our group of 8 perfectly. Also their paddle boards are wider than those at other rental shops so it was MUCH easier for us since we were beginners. Didn’t even fall! Highly recommend.

The guys in the shop are great! The equipment was solid and the prices cannot be beat! The whole experience was amazing. First time kayaker was very very happy with this!

We found a groupon for paddle boarding/​kayaking. We had a group and some of us didn’t buy the groupon but they still honored the price (yay). We had fun paddling around and at the end Kelan came out to help those who were having a hard time standing up. He was an awesome teacher and he made the trip that much more fun!!!
Downside-​no lockers to store our stuff but they’ll hold your car keys and a credit card.

Our trip to San Diego to celebrate my birthday last September wouldn’t have been complete without participating in some sort of water activity. OEX Point Loma made this possible with the rental of four paddleboards for $ 88.00. We didn’t use them for the full amount of time we had them available to us, mostly because it was a little windy on this particular September day, so paddling through the harbor took a lot of effort.
The rental process and getting in/​out of the water was very easy and we had fun maneuvering through the boats parked around us. It was very safe and so much fun — it was my first paddleboard experience and I love it — lots of fun and I’d definitely rent from these guys again!

Went to SD for my birthday and decided to try kayaking with a group of friends. Got a groupon and was given 2 hours on a tandem kayak (for 2) for 25 $! The employee Chase was very helpful, sweet, and very informative. I look forward to visiting again! Thanks Chase!

If you have a groupon deal for this place, it was well worth it. Actually with or without it. Great customer service. They do not have a locker for your personal belongings so be sure to have it locked up in your car!
Be mindful of incoming boats!

We had a fantastic experience here renting bikes. The price was reasonable at $ 10/​hr and the bikes were in great condition. We have rented bikes before and the bikes here were much more comfortable than any other place.
The process of getting the bike was quick and easy. The staff even recommended how to tie our dog up to the bike in a safe and comfortable way. We rode the bikes on a nearby nice open path by the water. Not crowded or stressful like when you rent bikes in PB.
We will definitely be back to try their stand up paddle boards. Only wish is that they were open just a bit later during the summer months when the sun is out later.

My girlfriend and I took advantage of the SUP lesson groupon for two. Best new experience we have both had in a while. Our instructor was fun, friendly and knowledgable. We were a bit nervous as first time SUP users but the staff here made us feel comfortable getting out on the water. No one fell in. Ha.
We are definitely hooked on SUP now and will return for future SUP and other rentals. We also took advantage of the tandem kayak deal and came across multiple sea lions. Such a great area. Their pricing for kayaks, SUP and bikes are all reasonable for experiencing the San Diego Bay area. Can’t wait to go again.
