Pacific Highlands Dentistry and Orthodontics

I know what you’re thinking. «It’s the dentist and you’re giving them five stars? You must be getting a free teeth whitening!» Well, I’m not but Nikki, that seems like a great idea! :) All kidding aside, it’s safe to say, I love this dentist office. From the entire staff to the office, everything about this place is top notch. Not only do I wholeheartedly trust them, they have given me stellar results. Even when you’re having a procedure done, Dr. Nosti and everyone there makes you so at ease that I’ve actually laughed while being shot with the numbing needle. I would highly recommend this office to anyone. They are admittedly conservative in their approach but leave it up to you what you choose to have done. And let’s be honest with ourselves here, any «bad news» we hear from the dentist is because we didn’t floss… Every. Single. Day. Keep it up Pacific Highlands Dentistry. I actually enjoy going to the dentist!

Bad news is always tough. I have gone to Dr. Nosti for years in San Marcos, and I am excited for his new office closer to home. He is a genuinely caring and honest dentist. No, I don’t love having work done and spending money, but sometimes we have to to in order to keep our teeth healthy.

Dangerous. My son went there for a dental cleaning appointment and ended up with a full mouth X ray treatment. When I picked him up I was informed about it and «If your insurance doesn’t pay, don’t worry about it». The insurance didn’t pay, indeed, because it was wholly unnecessary. I suggest, kept yourself and your kids safe and avoid this place.

It is my first time to write a review on Unilocal because I did not have time to do so. However, I believe it is my responsibility to tell the community and neighborhood. If there is a place on Unilocal to give Pacific Highland Dentistry negative 5, I won’t hesitate to do so. Simply advice you «Don’t go to the place». They just want to take out all your insurance coverage and the money from you pocket (co-​pay). We went there for a routine tooth cleaning, but they used their fancy machines to do the «exam». I don’t know how much they will charge our insurance for it. And then, we were told we had big problems with our teeth. Dr. Nosti told me if I don’t let him to work on them, I will loose a couple of teeth next year. Ah, my previous dentist never told me such severe problems. Finally, it comes with Dr. Nosti’s trick. The first step is to use all my insurance coverage plus a couple of hundred dollars from my own pocket to cover the co-​pay. The only reason we chose Pacific Highlands Dentistry is because it is newly opened in our neighborhood and close to our house. We went there just for routine tooth cleaning to check out its service. At the end, because we did not let them to take out all our insurance coverage and a couple of hundred dollars from our pocket (co-​pay), Dr. Nosti refused to do our routine tooth cleaning. Their flyer sent to the neighborhood advertises $ 59 new patents special, including «Cleaning, Exam & Digital X-​ray». When I asked them about the special on the flyer, I was told it does not apply to us because we have better insurance coverage. What a liar! I agree with the previous reviewers, Toby R. and Stella S. It is a rip off and totally unprofessional. Given such a bad experience at Pacific Highlands Dentistry, we drove all the way back to our previous dentist. After the check up, our previous dentist told us our teeth are fine. Now, we are so glad that we did not trust what the dentist at Pacific Highlands Dentistry told us and our teeth are fine.

The office is gorgeous, the people are nice, and they use the newest technology – digital x ray machine is particularly impressive. However, I had the same experience as another reviewer where I was told that I need a deep gum cleaning. I was also told that I have a cavity near an existing filling and that filling the new cavity MIGHT result in having to transition (mid procedure) into a root canal (I have never had a root canal before) because of location of cavity, existing filling and nerve. Then I was given a detailed, UNBUNDLED breakout of the costs. I have dental PPO insurance, but the out-​of-​pocket estimate (I emphasize that they UNBUNDLED the services to presumably maximize the billing), was thousands of dollars. I just visited another dentist for a second opinion. Guess what? He said I did not need a deep gum cleaning at this time (although I should floss more aggressively) and that my filling does not need to be removed nor does that tooth need to be drilled any further.
I’m no dentist, so maybe Dr. Nosti is correct and the other dentist was wrong. But, I am suspicious and I know which analysis and treatment plan I prefer!

Thank you so much Nikki without your knowledge of how all this dentist stuff works I would have been so scared to get my root canals done. They went smooth as butter. I’m excited to come back to your office and meet the general dentist. I am a member of the smile generation and it hasn’t been the easiest road finding a good dentist, now my search is over.

Brand new office, state of the art technology and equipment. I highly recommend Dr. Nguyen. He and his entire staff were extremely knowledgeable, accommodating, and friendly. They were able to get me in for a cleaning the same week I called for an appointment, and I hardly spent any time in the waiting room. 5 stars for this Dentist visit!!!

Finally I’ve found a dentist I like! Dr. Nosti himself came to get me from the waiting room and talked to me about what I wanted to get from my visit before even starting x –rays. I normally don’t meet the doctor until I’m in a room starring at the ceiling! (which they have direct TV in the rooms so I didn’t have to stare at the wall) So right then I was already impressed. Then they showed me around the place, TALK ABOUT HIGH TECH! They do crowns and bridges in the same day with a machine they have in the office! They also offer high tech laser treatment for your gums! The x rays are all digital and took 15 min! I didn’t gag once which I normally always do! The x-​ray tech Lorena knew what she was doing! After my x-​rays I was sad to find out I need a crown and a deep cleaning with the laser. Nikki came in and went over all the options on how to proceed. She answered all of my questions and I didn’t feel pressured to do anything right then even though they told me they could take care of everything that same day. I scheduled an appointment to take care of it all because I wanted to go home and do some research and realized this place knew their stuff and offered the most modern technology out there. Here is the real kicker. I got a personalized thank you card from Dr. Nosti himself! (I added it to the pictures) That’s when I knew this place really cares about the people and aren’t just another money hungry dentist. Dr. Nosti and his staff won me over! But don’t take my word for it. try it out for yourself. I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised just like I was! I’m telling everyone in need of a dentist to give this place a try!

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They told me I had deep pockets and needed a laser treatment. They are a part of smile generation which is the same group I went to before them and they said the same thing that I needed laser treatment. Do NOT go here. I got a second opinion and my gums are fine.

Definitely recommend it! The office is brand new with state of the art technology. I hate going to the dentist, like most people do I’m assuming, but Dr. Nosti made me feel super comfortable. Nikki, the manager, went over the finances and made a plan to get the work that I need within my means. She didn’t sell me on anything that wasn’t necessary. Extremely helpful how she went over everything in detail. I’m going back for sure.

Admittedly it had been a couple years since I had been to the dentist… I was waiting for the new Village center to open because I was sure that a dentist office would open there. I just happened to be ‘Patient #1′ at the new office on the 1^st day they opened. Despite it being the very first day and the first time to officially use the equipment, exam rooms, etc. I had a very pleasant experience. Everyone was so nice and welcoming from the minute I walked in the door. I have never had such thorough x-​rays and everything is digital which made it so fast. Dr. Nosti was great and explained everything thoroughly. I left my other dentist because I felt like he was always suggesting unnecessary procedures and I did not feel this way at all with Dr. Nosti. It is also so great to be able to walk to my dentist’s office!

I stumbled across this gem of a dentist’s office the last time I was at Trader Joe’s — I’m new to the area so decided to give them a try. I can honestly say that the entire experience was the best I’ve had yet. Nikki and Gretchen were there to greet me, get my paperwork going and let me know that I’d be seen shortly. Unlike other practices, this was not a lie — my name was called in less than 5 minutes. The sweet technician then took my X-​Rays and got me prepped to see the dentist and hygienist. Dr. Nosti and Martina were great — easy to talk to, informative, knowledgeable, and just plain nice. While I’m upset that I have a few more things that need to be taken care of, it’s nice to know that I’ll once again be in great hands. Thank you, Pacific Highlands Dentistry!
