I love pan dulce and this is the best I’ve had in San Diego. Yum!

This is another 3.5 rating… not quite«YAY I’m a fan». I do really love their bread pudding though… very dense, not dry and just sweet enough… the rest of the pastries are fine. I eat like 3 – 4 different pastries in one sitting… and you wonder why so many Mexicans are diabetic!!! Oy vey, bolillos with Mexican hot chocolate(Ibarra, not Abuelita) are the bomb. Anyway, the neighborhood is a little ghetto. I think the Northgate Markets make better pan dulce.

Panaderia Larisa is the best *close* bakery to my house. They have a very generous selection of baked goods. Due to my ignorance, and inability to communicate in Spanish about baked goods(they didn’t teach us too much concerning panaderias in Spanish class), I enjoy trying all of the pastries I am not remotely familiar with and attempting to determine which ones have filling inside. Very reasonably priced, and they also make their own ice cream!

Their baked goods are nothing special, but they are fine. I was excited to see they sell empenadas queso, but it ended up tasting like sugar and not much else. Not that this is a real bad thing. I think it’s what they go for. But the last time I came in here, it was a quiet afternoon, with no one else in the store. And the woman in the back who was doing the baking was singing the most beautiful song. And she has a lovely voice. Makes me hungry for galletas…
