Very wonderful service from the lady Elizabet. Food was oily yet delicious. Shrimps small but tasty. Great iced tea

I did an online order. This place made the meal to order just fine. I personally like the general chicken and the wontons. I arrived a couple minutes before the email told me to. They were quick to process my payment and let me go on my way. The restaurant and counters were really clean which was surprising with how busy they were. When I got into the car I started eating the wontons. They were already kind of cold but still good. The chicken was still nice and hot when I got home and the rice was okay. It seemed a little saltier than normal. They may need to watch that. All in all it was a good experience.

Ordered online to go, their site was easy to order but didn’t allow you to make any special requests. The was order was ready to be picked up when we had requested it. We ordered the house special chicken and Mongolian beef with brown rice. The chicken was okay, it looked a little like mystery meat but had tasted okay, no overwhelming flavor, more on the bland side. The Mongolian beef was better but the onions we under cooked and wasn’t sautéed at all. Brown rice was under cooked also. Overall for the food taste and quality it was over priced, about $ 9 a dish.

So, this experience just left me up a creek with no paddle or pad Thai! I placed an order at 830pm for General T’s chicken, chicken pad Thai, wonton soup and wontons for myself and my girlfriend to enjoy. After stating what I’d wanted, the woman on the phone felt compelled to say, ‘ma’am just because you sound hoarse I’m going to repeat your order back to you.’ (Ok, so I may have sounded hoarse but did you really find it necessary to say it like that?) After repeating the order the woman simply stated, ‘OK, that should be ready in 10 minutes.’ That was it, cool I thought. Now, on a side note I recently injured my left foot while playing softball so have been moving a little slower. In addition, I left 10 minutes after calling.(830−840p) I had stopped and grabbed a few drinks and $ 10 in gas from the shell gas station on Voltaire and sunset cliffs.(840−855p) I took Voltaire to chatsworth and then to rosecrans made my way to Pick-up stix.(855−903p) **There was NEVER any mention that it was necessary to be present for my order before they closed at 9pm.** When I made my way in their front door 1 of the 2 male employees standing behind the counter said, ‘we can’t ring you up so there’s no way to give you your order.‘ I replied calmly and confused, ‘so, there’s no way I can get an order that I placed before you closed?‘ Employee– ‘you can speak to my manager but there’s nothing we can do ‘cuz it closes out at that time.‘ I felt as though the manager should have already been out front prepared to handle the obvious situation instead of allowing her employees to bare the more than likely angry/upset/disappointed customer. I realize that I should have waited for the manager but felt agitated and hangry(hungry + angry) so instead replied to the guys, ‘no, I’ll figure it out and left to my car to grab something/anything else. I’d called my girlfriend and vented she said, ‘why wouldn’t they just give it to you if they couldn’t ring you up? It is customer service.(which we’ve both worked in) I said I’d call but really didn’t want to have to deal with conflict. I called and a woman, the manager, answered. I stated how it was odd that no one mentioned how I needed to be present before 9p as the registers shut down. She said ‘yea that’s how our system works, sorry.‘ I replied, ‘then again, why wasn’t I told that information?‘ She kind of kept defending and repeating the same thing like it’s just how our system works. I reiterated and said how disappointing it is to have all this happen, she then asked if I was in the area still. I replied that I’d driven away. She said that she guesses she could turn the register back on or something to ring me up. At this point I was displeased with the entire situation especially the fact that she apparently could’ve done that the whole time. I answered back with, ‘so I could’ve been charged from the entire time? Ya know I’m just upset from how this has all been handled. Im gonna go now.’ A bit flustered I hung up and went to give my business elsewhere.

This is the worst location around. The manager is rude and dose not know how to run a resturant. Waited 30min and never got my food. People were getting food before me that showed up well after I did. Dot ever go to this location. The manager Gregory Smith is incompetent and can’t handle the job. You should have more then himself and a cook working during lunch rush. I was not the only one that walked out.

Came in for lunch and I was very impressed! The menu is large and even features a full kids section. I immediately admitted to the gentleman behind the counter, Greg, that I had never been here before. He instantly gives me the rundown of everything Pick Up Stix. He was so kind and honest with me. Great customer service and awesome food.

The lack of decent Chinese restaurants in San Diego has led me down some slippery and scary slopes. That being said, this 4-star rating is based strictly on the competition in this fine city, not for Chinese food in general. I always seem to find my way to this location when I am in the Liberty Station or Point Loma area. It is never crowded, the staff is always friendly and I consider the food to be decent. It may sound sacrilegious, but I don’t like rice with my meal and will almost always opt for extra veggies instead and these guys are always happy to comply. Maybe they charge me extra for it? No idea, I’ve never checked, but $ 10.00 bucks for a heaping plate of chicken and veggies is well worth it for me. Certainly not the best Chinese food that I’ve ever had, not even close, but a damn good option for a quick and affordable lunch.

The Chinese restaurant my friend chose seemed a bit dated and worn. As the employees milled about doing their jobs, it was a different scenario than what I’ve become accustomed to. This restaurant is several generations old, the staff is all related and they love what they do. It shows in their faces, their greetings, but most importantly in their food. I’ve not been to China, but I’d assume this is what it would taste like. I was truly transported. No crap food or bad service, much integrity and pride.

Don’t bother coming to this location because I asked grilled teriyaki and vegetables, but I needed to substitute tofu instead of chicken because it was a Lent Friday. All I got from the cashier was nothing but excuses. She said, «I don’t think we can grill tofu.» She then continued with more excuses. I said, «forget it and good bye.» I had no problem asking for the exact same thing at the location on Murphy Canyon Rd., no excuses. But come to the one to the one in the Sports Arena area, it’s a waste of time.

Clean and new interior, and the workers at the cashiers counter are friendly. The portions of ”fresh” prepared food contained a lot of salt in their sauce basis, and the chicken meat was nothing more than a few crumbs instead of tender breast pieces. Needs improvement.

This is not at all comparable to Pei-Wei or Panda Express, in my opinion. It’s good quality fast food that seems moderately healthy and is made to order. I like their lunch specials. For less than $ 10 you get protein, rice and an appetizer. Their house and firecracker chicken are my favorite, but I prefer it with the sauce on the side, comes much less greasy that way. This location doesn’t deliver, but you can order online.

Wow! I have been to many Chinese restaurants and been very pleased at most of them but this one was absolutely spectacular. They had this wonderful music playing and the food was delightful — just the right blend of spices and it was cooked perfectly. I had their Ginger Stir Fry and it was spicy and sweet… I actually ordered another serving of it to go. I would recommend this food place to anyone looking for flavor and atmosphere! I went with my girlfriends and we all had an amazing time — our waiter was easy on the eyes too. I’m hoping we get him the next time we go here. It’ll definitely be back soon!

An average of 3 stars is about right. Pick Up Sticks is average and I appreciate their effort to «appear» more healthy by adding the word fresh to their name but it is what it is. A fast food chinese place that is consistant and quick. Sometimes that is all you need to hit the spot. King pao is what I have eaten here and it’s exactly what you would expect. Next time I will try the spicy chicken because they seem to get the most praise for that. Portions are generous and the restaurant is clean. I didn’t have to wait in line and my wallet didn’t feel any pain. Like I said consistant and quick.

Pick Up Stix used to be a great counter-order AmerAsian restaurant, but now it’s just OK. It originally started as a catering company in LA, but it became so popular that they opened a restaurant in LA, then several more, and now there are a few in San Diego. Everything was going really well until the company was sold, and the new owners have let it go downhill somewhat. They rarely offer BOGO specials any more, but I take advantage of it whenever they do. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still good, but not great like it used to be. Don’t bother getting anything with shrimp, because these dishes are expensive and the shrimp has no flavor. In addition, the beef dishes are kind of rubbery. I stick with chicken dishes, and my favorite is the House Special Chicken. It’s great when properly prepared, and rather crappy when it isn’t. I make sure to ask for it extra well done to make sure the chicken is cooked to be crispy and the sauce is properly caramelized. Otherwise it can be bland with a watery sauce. I also don’t order it with veggies because they can’t cook it extra well done without burning the veggies. They just introduced salmon filet dishes, and the Teriyaki Salmon is pretty good. It’s kind of pricey at $ 12, but it’s a good-size filet with teriyaki sauce on top of a pile of veggies with rice on the side. I always get their brown rice because it’s a healthier choice and has more flavor than bleached white rice. Also good are the cream cheese wontons with a flavorful soy sauce for dipping.

As a panda express regular, I felt a bit like a traitor when I made the decision to eat here instead, but I’m happy to have at least experienced the competition. That being said, I’m not going to be switching any time soon. The location was clean, the staff was friendly. There were tv’s to watch while you waited for your food, which was not very long, ten minutes tops. Unfortunately, the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. My family ordered the family deal, spring rolls, cream cheese wontons, General tsaos chicken, orange chicken, white rice and fried rice. Most of it was okay. but the chicken entrees, the part you really look forward to, in my case at least, was so disappointing. The chicken pieces were very much like the crumbs you find at the bottom of a bag of frozen chicken tenders. Pretty much just breading. Each piece was the size of a dime or smaller. White rice was slightly soggy and overcooked, and everything tasted like smoke, that kind of odd fake charbroiled taste. I really liked the customer service and atmosphere, but the food needs improvement.
