One word describes mine and my girlfriends food: Garbage My girlfriend ordered the mongolian beef. Never order it… the beef was literally old stringy hamburger meat that had been overlooked in an attempt to hide how unappetizing and old it was. The white rice was also old, dry, and overcooked– which is always a bad sign at a Thai restaurant. I ordered the pink lady which were pink pan fried noodles that tasted old and they were drowning in overly sweet coconut milk topped with dry tofu. The chicken was alright but who knows when you get old food drowning in coconut milk in an attempt to hide the flavor. This is THEWORST restaurant I’ve been to and unfortunately it’s in Hillcrest which is usually surrounded with amazing restaurants. This place needs Gordon Ramsey to come in and save it in an episode of Kitchen Knightmares. Avoid like the plague until this happens or it goes out of business. Your money is better spent at surrounding restaurants.

Meh. You don’t get what you paid for at this place. Came in for dinner after browsing and walking up and down Hillcrest for a friend’s birthday. We walked in and the place was empty. The hostess had her earphones in and took a minute to take them out and notice us. Even though there wasn’t anyone else in the restaurant, there was a table next to ours littered with leftover stuff from the previous diner like dirty plates. You’d think they’d get to that since it wasn’t busy? Since there were three of us, we thought we’d do it up family style and order three things: a noodle dish, a rice dish, and a beef dish. We settled on Pad Thai, Mongolian beef, and the basil rice with shrimp and chicken. The portion sizes were a joke. The Pad Thai was really good, seasoned really well, and the same goes for the basil rice. The Mongolian beef was the most ridiculous, the portion given to us TOSHARE had us looking at each other with wtf faces. It wasn’t anything special either, shredded beef with what felt like the same stuff the rice had been tossed in along with cherry tomatoes. I ordered a mango passion fruit iced tea and it basically tasted of water since the syrup or whatever the girl put in it was not strong at all. No fruit mix or any kind of love or effort to put into it to make it refreshing or delicious. Not worth $ 3. The total for our meal was almost $ 40 and my friends and I left grumbling and still hungry. I also don’t get the décor of this place. The bathrooms are designed and painted to look like the inside of a 6-year-old girl’s room and so are the tables in the restaurant because they’re littered with pink flowers and quirky art. I don’t know. The pad thai was good, but I’ll have to think twice about coming back especially since there are so many other choices in the area.

Interesting experience. Decided to check this place out because of a coupon they where running in the Downtown Mag. We entered to find the place pretty empty. The staff seemed overwhelmed and I could not figure out why. The place was empty and had been for some time. It was no bother to us as we were not in a hurry and were content to sit and talk. The décor is sparse. They do have a TV that is difficult to ignore when something interesting is on. At some point they turned off what we were watching and put on clubby type music. Not a big deal, we have TV at home. We started with the calamari because for whatever reason I am putting together a calamari Unilocal list(yeah I know you are waiting with baited breath for that list to drop). It was ok but a bit of a small portion for the price. I did like they had the sweet chili for dipping. My pad thai(first thing I order at most thai joints) was really good. I asked for an 8 on the spicy scale and an 8 it was! I could blah blah about my trips to Asia and how I know this or that about spicy but I believe it is a personal thing. For those who want even more they have a spice rack you can request. I sorta have a gripe about the beer prices. One large Kiirin is close to $ 8 or $ 9. They said it is because you get TWO glasses out of the beer. This is true. However anyone who drinks these beers know that its WAY too much to ask a customer to pay when everyone else is asking a half less. I just felt it was sorta cheap and lame. They have a lot of wine behind the counter but I am unaware of any wine list. How does one even think to order a glass without a list? Last gripe is with the fact that I was allowed to use my coupon because I was«cool» although nowhere on the coupon did it state any rules on it that I would have broke. I mean I was glad to be able to save some money on taking a chance on a place I wouldn’t have gone to in the first place(pink noodle does not a yummy name make) but it isn’t really doing me a favor since your coupon didn’t state restrictions that I would have broken. Just sayin’ I actually really enjoyed my meal so that is truly the most important thing to me. I liked our waiter but there are some things to work out. I also think a wine list and fair beer pricing would do this place more justice then what they are doing now. It is just so hard to find an actually spicy pad thai! They brought the fire! Also I noticed they have lunch specials for $ 7 so if you are dubious you might want to check that out. If you are using the Downtown Mag coupon make sure to read the small print so that you are educated on when you can use your coupon. Your knowledge may be tested!

One of my bestest friends was sick and needed to feed the fever, so we drove over to Hillcrest to get her some spicy noodles to make her sweat out the cold. Pink Noodle is a cute little place(cuter on the inside than the outside) with lots of room and a bright interior. We ordered our food to go and hung out at the counter and talked to the waiter who was cheerful and funny while we watched the Chargers /Raiders game(not a fan of either team). I ordered the fried rice which had a ton of veggies and chicken and basil in it. It was very tasty and the portion was very generous. I will say that it wasn’t as good later when I tried eating some for a midnight snack. I guess it’s just better when you eat it hot and fresh. The restaurant is clean, the prices are good, the portions are generous, and everybody who works there is super friendly. My friend had the pink noodles which looked interesting and made her sweat, so maybe I’ll try those next time.

Let me start by saying, I’ve had great meals here for years. From back when it was kitima, up through today, I’ve eaten here dozens of times, and have always been fairly happy. I don’t know if Sunday afternoons are just not a priority, or if the quality has just fallen, but I was very unhappy with my experiences today. We ordered drinks, and I was immediately displeased to find the«tropical iced tea» is now(or at least today) neither brewed(powdered?) or tropical. Not a fruit in the mix at any point in development. We ordered our meals, Krispy Duck and Sate, half beef and half chicken. The server came back and informed us that we couldn’t get both meats for the sate, so we switched to a duck curry on the specials menu. She came back again to inform us that there wasn’t enough duck for both, but only the curry. I switched to a fried rice. Every employee disappeared for the next twenty minutes, so we were unable to add on an appetizer of the sate. When our food came out, mine was fine. Nothing special either way. My boyfriend’s duck curry however, contained(no exaggeration) 2 bites of edible meat. The rest was only fat and skin. The menu had boasted«half duck» quite inaccurately. We informed the server, and she took it, and proceeded to ignore us and our empty coke glass for twenty more minutes. When she brought the check, they had graciously given us 10% off the $ 18 pile of duck trash. Wow. Thanks. Suffice it to say, we won’t be back. So sad.

Meh. I like that this place is open late. I like that they have a large selection. I like that they have mango sticky rice. I like that their prices aren’t horrendous. and I like that the portions are share worthy. But. Taste wise, I’m not sold. I don’t love it. It’s ok, but not great. I’d rather go to Jimmy Wongs next door. Sorry i’m not sorry.

Just OK. I just ordered the Pink Lady. PINKLADY9.95 Soft thin noodle with chicken, tofu, onion and coconut milk The noodles were too salty because they were pretty much drenched in whatever pink sauce that was. The sauce was delicious but it was too much that it overpowered the rest of the plate and overloaded my taste buds. The consistency of the noodles itself was good, and the ingredients were fresh. However, as you could see in the description of the dish, there wasn’t much going on in the plate but they claimed that as a royal dish or something and presented it as if it were the House Dish(that’s why I ordered it). Pretty disappointed. The service was a bit slow too and the server was not attentive. There was only one on a weeknight we went there, and she was in the kitchen most of the time. She never came to check on us if we needed anything else after our ordered arrived. The location was in the heart of Hillcrest, so it could be nice if you wanted to hang out in the area, but it could work against you if you only wanted to go there for dinner and call it a night because parking is never easy in this area. I don’t think I will come back because the food was not particularly good that I would spend so much time finding parking just to eat a plate of noodles. If I happen to hang out in the area, I don’t think I’ll choose this restaurant over the many other choices that I have either. So nope, probably will never be back.

Maybe this will be my ritual… get my hair cut and follow up with a trip to Pink Noodle. Hot day in San Diego, so I sat near the patio, taking in the breeze and the passersby without needing sunglasses. Service was slow this time and provided by a young woman(girl?) and I didn’t catch her name(and Troy’s name was on the check). No matter because I was in no rush. I ordered satay at my waitress’s suggestion, the Thai iced coffee, and asked for mangoes and sticky rice for dessert. The chicken satay was a serving of at least four(i honestly can’t remember now) large strips of chicken, slathered in a delicious, sticky sauce and topped with shredded carrots and seasoning on a small bed of spring greens. The chicken was easy to pull off the skewers and enjoy with knife and fork(instead of like corn on the cob at the fair). The iced coffee seemed a little watery, but maybe I just needed a stronger cup that day. Perhaps I’m just a purist, but I felt the mangoes and sticky rice were a bit adulterated. What I mean is, I just want sticky rice soaked in coconut milk(preferably warm) with fresh mango and maybe a sprinkling of sesame seeds. What I got was sticky rice pressed in the shape of a heart, covered in crushed peanuts with a mini scoop of ice cream, garnished with a mint sprig. The mango was incredible and the sticky rice was perfect, but it was overwhelmed by the peanuts(be warned if you have an allergy!) and the ice cream(could not tell you what the flavor was, maybe coconut?). I’d rather have more rice and mango for the money(but less expensive without the frills is probably the best). I didn’t let this visit sway my opinion of Pink Noodle, even though I left with a heavy check and disappointed with their version of mangoes and sticky rice(literally one of my top 5 favorite things to eat). I am ready to try more of their offerings(maybe at happy hour this time).

It was 4:15 in the afternoon and my daughter wanted sushi but all the places we went to around there didn’t open until 5:00. I am so glad we ventured in to the Pink Noodle and talked to Troy who welcomed us immediately. He was very helpful in telling me what items on the menu were gluten free. I ordered the Drunken Noodles and it was delicious. My daughter ordered the Pink Lady and gave me a bite. This entrée has a great flavor and I love the bright pink colored noodles! We ordered the Blue Lagoon after Troy’s recommendation and were very pleased with how yummy it was. A very nice lady took over for Troy and always made sure our water glasses were full and made sure we were doing OK. We made a comment to her about how tasty the tofu was in the Pink Lady and she told us that it is soaked in Coconut Milk before cooking it up. We loved how she continued to give us more cooking tips on how to make tofu taste better. This would have gotten 5 stars if we were charged the lunch price but we were charged the dinner price of $ 9.95 for our entrees. The martini was a happy hour price of $ 5.00 so that was cool. We may have stayed longer to order dessert but our parking meter was about to run out of time. I think we were there for about 30 – 40 minutes but we walked a few blocks to get there. We will definitely come back now that we know of a good Thai place to dine at in Hillcrest.

I really wanted to dig on this place… I tend to go with a coupon, but I also tend to go at off hours to compensate. We walked in @ 1:30ish, and the folks who worked there were congregating in the corner, and the first thing I noticed were dirty tables, first thing I vibed on. was that we were interrupting. Ordered ice tea, it came with no sweet stuff, nor lemon. I asked for both, I got one. The whole time, I felt like I wasn’t welcomed. :( Ordered Drunken Noodles for me, and Orange Peel Chicken for mini-me. Both came out small and lonely. this I expect at lunchtime and with a coupon. My noodles were so-so. Rice with Orange Chicken was a little crunchy-old. Was over charged for both dishes and had to do the whole song and dance with fixing my bill, and voiding credit card charges. :((makes me nervous) We were charged dinner prices, not lunch prices. They also didn’t have the sticker, advertised in the coupon book we need to win a trip to Maui :) We probably will not return. Server lady should probably find job that better suits her dull personality. ~Late!

Really yummy food. My hubby and I were pleasantly surprised last weekend when we went to Pink Noodle for the first time. Nice serve, easy atmosphere, and delicious food. The pink noodle dish was incredible. But beware: when they say the spice level is a «4»(out of 10), it’s a seasoned Thai connoisseur’s 4, not an ordinary American white girl’s 4. The wine list was nice, but I found the single glass servings a bit on the chintzy. The mango sticky rice dessert is FABULOUS. The rice comes out in the shape of a heart. Fancy, eh?! Apparently they get super busy with the after-hours crowd, so go early and enjoy yourself!

I enjoy Thai food as much as the next person, but I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to come here unless a friend asked me. The place is cute, but it also looks like it was built by hand. Does that make sense? Definitely not part of a chain that would have made sure each detail was meticulous and perfect. So you’ll notice the pant job, and a few nails hanging out of the wall. But that gives it character. Food is great. There’s enough for a little leftovers too, but a homeless crew practically pounced on me for the remainder of my meal so I gave it up. But I bet it would have tasted good leftover. And I enjoyed our server, he was really nice and speedy. Always kept my water glass nice and full, and with spicy food that’s a must.

I was starving after the Unilocal Elite event at the Range because all they had was fried food and ran out of it by the time I got there… and our other friend had enjoyed much of the free alcohol so she needed time before driving :) PLUS we were in a good mood and wanted to stay in a good moos, so my friends and I were wondering where to go. We decided on Pink noodle, thanks to Natalya, and although it was fairly empty when we got there(a little worrisome when it’s empty) it was a great choice! Troy, the owner gave us first class service and the food was delicious at a great price. We had the PINKLADY — pink noodles– coconut, curry, rice noodles dyed with beets to give them the pink color. A tad spicey but DELICIOUS! $ 9 We also had SHRIMPPADTHAI — did not disappoint! Great pad thai! $ 9 Us gals ate and had leftovers! Great! The ambiance is fun ~ loved all the hand painted touches! Charming~ And this place is open til 3am!!! If you’re out late an need a place in Hillcrest find this next tot he burger lounge on University!

The outside looks more cute than the inside, that’s for sure. Honestly I probably wouldn’t think it’s has thai cuisine. The inside looked like they had little kids draw on all the tables. It looked like a cheap coffee shop –not appealing at all. But put that aside, the workers were really nice. Especially the chef. He came out a couple of times to check up on my friend and I which was pretty nice. My friend ordered Pink Lady, and I ordered pad-woon sen. My dish was alright. It consists of clear noodles and veggies with some sort of spices. The chef forgot my broccoli, but he kindly came outside and apologized. Honestly I didn’t even know, so I didn’t mind. My friend liked her dish though, I got a taste of it. It was actually pretty good. It was basically like noodles in a curry base. The dish was a little heavy though so she wasn’t able to finish it. Oh btw, the noodles are pink for her dish. Which I thought was interesting.

Admittedly, the glaringly pink signage and décor led me to quickly walk or drive pass this place many a time. I don’t know, the store front simply didn’t inspire great cuisine. First impressions and all that. However, after an evening(and early morning) of enjoying a few too many glasses of champagne, Thai comfort food sounded perfect, and we thought we’d give this place a shot. Thought — YES! Adam — owner, we learned — was our greeter and server, and was superbly attentive. Both recommendations he offered, we took, and were pleased on all accounts. This was the daily duck curry special and the Pink Lady(how could you NOT get this dish?!). Both were excellent, and they didn’t shy away from our request for a «9» on the spiciness scale. On a late Saturday afternoon, there was 1 other group of 5 in the restaurant, and they seemed to be thoroughly enjoying themselves as well. Random — they actually have a great wine list(Opus One, anyone?). We will definitely be back! Oh, and the icing to this cake? They are open until 3am — thank goodness carne asada is not the only choice.

This place was a surprise of delishiousness! The décor is a little strange(you must check out the womens restroom because there are lots of doilies). But the food was sooo good. I got the Pink Lady and it was DIVINE. The perfect combo of sweet and tangy. My mom got a generic orange chicken or something and it was still really good. The desserts were so good too! The deep fried bananas were the best! The mango sticky rice was pretty good too! This place needs more servers and more customers! LOVEDIT

It’s as tasty as it is femininely decorated. The interior looks like Barbie’s dream house with pink and white plastering the walls, but their foods deliciousness knows no specific gender. Don’t let the name or décor fool you dudes. They’re legit in portion size, spice, and overall satisfaction regardless of whether or not you have chest hair. I highly recommended The Pink Lady which is a chicken, tofu and noodle combination kind of similar to Pad Thai, but with a little extra oomph to it. And of course the noodles are pink. Service was friendly and prices are pretty on par with what Thai food usually costs. I can’t wait to give them another try.
