Pitstop Autoglass + Windshield Repair Service Center

The bad news:
I was driving north on I-​5 in San Diego with my new RAV4 when the car in front of me threw up a rock that put a chip/​crack in my windshield.
The good news:
I remembered the Pitstop Autoglass kiosk in the shopping center near my home and drove straight there. Within 20 minutes Gil had performed an almost invisible repair and prevented further damage to my windshield.
He completely exceeded my expectations for service, quality and value.

Great little spot! Gil was very busy today, but he got my windshield chip taken care of as soon as he could. It was a reasonable price, and the Unilocal deal helped as well. I learned a few things for future chips while I was there. I can now barely see what I thought was a *big* chip now that he fixed it up. I was on my way in a reasonable amount of time considering the people ahead of me, and I will definitely go back when I need to. Thanks, Gil!

I had a great experience getting my windshield repaired. We had a nasty crack which was literally growing larger by the minute. I called around, and with the impending New Year holiday coming, was having a tough time getting anyone to respond. Thankfully, I called Pitstop Autoglass. He told me if I could get the car there, he would take care of it. I drove there immediately, and he got right to work. Less than 30 minutes later, I was on my way!

Gil is the man! $ 60 fixed my rental car’s huge cracked windshield from driving up to the Grand Canyon. It was more like $ 60 for a 30 minute magic trick! No joke, he seriously made this ginormous crack disappear, while I got coffee from Starbucks next door. Thanks!

I rarely post reviews online, but I felt compelled to write one after receiving great service from Gil at Pitstop Autoglass. I recently bought a new truck (’16 F150 in case you were curious) and just one week after getting it I got a stone chip in my windshield while driving up to LA. cry, cry. The stone chip was about the size of a quarter with small ½″ cracks radiating from the center. The chip was not in my direct field of view but I definitely didnt want to see the cracks spread, so I decided to look into getting the chip repaired. I attempted to schedule an appointment online on Monday (day after I got the chip), and called the location and left a message when no one called/​wrote me back. On Tuesday after no one called me back yet I called again. This time Gil answered the phone and told me to just bring the car in (no appointment necessary).
On my lunch break I drove over and with no wait Gil immediately began work on the chip. The chip, with its radiating cracks, made Gil work a bit harder on it, but I was out of there in about 30 mins. All that was left of the ugly mark are two small large pinholes where the chip used to be… you can barely see it and probably wont notice it unless I pointed it out. The price of the repair was what I expected and is what is stated online ($ 40 for a small stone chip) and Gil accepted the Unilocal 10% discount if I checked in. Overall very pleased with the service, the cost and the speed of the repair. A few things to note and keep in mind if you find yourself in the same situation as me:
1) According to Gil, if you get a stone chip, get your car in to be repaired asap and dont use your windshield wiper fluid and dont take your car through a car wash. The reason being is that modern windshield cleaning fluid has hydrophobic chemicals that repel water, which is normally a good thing, but it works against the chemicals that Gil uses to repair the windshields resulting in a more difficult and sometimes less than ideal repair. He said that if you must wash your windshield that you can put some tape over the crack/​chip so that the fluid doesnt touch the chip/​crack. It was a bit scary, but Gil had to use a small Dremel tool to drill holes in my windshield presumably in order to allow his bonding chemicals to absorb into the glass. Honestly this freaked me out and I found myself turning away when he did this seeing him taking a drill to my brand new truck!
2) For future reference Gil recommended a simple DIY windshield cleaner fluid that works just as well as the blue stuff you get in the store… a gallon of distilled water, mixed with a «few drops» of dishwashing soap. And if you expect to encounter freezing temps, then you can add a ¼ cup of rubbing alcohol (isopropyl). If you use tap water instead of distilled, he suggested adding a cup of vinegar to dissolve the mineral solids in the tap water (so as to not clog up your tubes.
3) Dont expect a perfect fix. In my case you still see a few small pinholes where he had to drill in the windshield, but it is so much better than before and I can rest a bit easier knowing that the cracks arent going to spread… and I dont even see the cracks any more.
4) I came to find out after the fact that my insurance will cover the cost of the repair, so it was a $ 0 cost fix.
5) Gil was very attentive to the fix and really paid attention to the details… he looked at his repair from all different angles to make sure he got it as good as he could get it. I didnt feel that he was rushing at all, and I was still done within 30 mins. He utilized a number of secret sauces in his tool box to make the repair.
6) His shop is closed Sunday and Monday, so dont bother trying to reach him on those days… I guess I should have seen that on his webpage, so no demerits for him not calling me back on his days off.
Overall, very happy with everything. Thanks Gil for getting my new truck back into tip top shape.

I’ve had recently repaired my windshield. I have not to say but to speak highly of the Older gentleman that was working there. He was so kind & welcoming towards me. He was done with my car less than an hour and the job he did was excellent. I would definitely go there again and would recommend him to others as well.

I scheduled an appointment a couple nights ago due to a large crack that was on my windshield and received an email back of when I could stop by. I met with Gil the next morning and was told the because the the crack was in contact with my mirror that I would need to replace my windshield. I decided to go through with the replacement through Pitstop and am extremely satisfied with how things went.
After being told that I would be contacted by their dispatcher later that day to schedule a time when I could get the repair done, I was en route back home and immediately received the call. I set my appointment for the same afternoon and the repairman arrived promptly within the given time-​frame. My windshield was replaced successfully.
I highly recommend coming to Pitstop for any concerns involving your windshield. The prices are very reasonable and the service is ideal. I was even offered the chance to come back if I experience any new chips on my new windshield to get repaired for free for the next year.

Gil did a great job repairing my windshield. Yesterday a rock came flying at my windshield on my way home from work. Called my insurance and they sent my claim through to Pitstop. I called in the morning to set up an appointment and Gil was so kind saying stop by anytime. I came during my lunch, no wait, no hassle. He was already expecting me, and worked on my windshield right away. Within 20 minutes he was done, he even put extra repair on my old nicks from years ago. Great customer service!

I used their service 2 years ago. I noticed that the cracks are going further recently. I contacted Gil since on their invoice said that they guarantee that you will repair the area again at no additional cost. My windshield’s crack is longer then 1 foot, it is not safe to repair again, it need to be replaced. I asked them credit me some money back for the whole windshield replacement and didn’t hear anything back. Should never trust them For the guarantee.

My windshield got chipped from a rock on the way to work, so I wanted to get it taken care of before it got any bigger. Thankfully, this place was down the street from work. I came here on my lunch the same day it got chipped. I don’t think it took more than half an hour for the fix. I ate at El Pollo Loco while waiting. After eating, I went over to take a peek at my windshield and noticed just a little bit of the chip still showing. Upon payment — before I could even ask about it — Gil read my mind completely, explaining that the windshield would never be as perfect as it was originally, but at least it would not get any worse. I applied the discount from Unilocal which made this even more affordable than expected The service was quick! If I ever get another chip in my windshield, I’ll be coming back here for sure.

I hand pick who touches my H2 SUT and I wish GIl serviced more than auto glass because I would come back to him for not just windshield chip repair but for other auto other service, any time!

Gil was great. I took my new car there thinking I had a new rock chip, which turned out to be old rock chip that was already repaired. Instead of taking advantage of my ignorance, gil explained it was already repaired and even put an additional cover over the repair to reinforce it at no charge. Great people and if I do get a rock chip pitstop will be the first place I go. Thank you Gil.

Some kids where throwing rocks from a bridge, and they got me. Argh! I told my wife to drive directly to Pitstop, but she didn’t, and that cost me $ 400.
Gil tried to fix it, but told me the washer fluid contaminated the crack. So even though he couldn’t fix it, he tried without charging me anything. What I appreciate most is that he gave me an education so I know what to do if this happens again.
Gil also made an appointment for me to get a new windshield, which was installed the next day. The work was excellent and fast.

Best deal in town. He did a great job on a pretty big chip. He was fast and friendly. There is a great warranty that comes with your repair! I highly recommend this place. He was finished by the time I walked around Trader Joe’s and did some grocery shopping.

2 weeks ago I had to replace the front glass of my car… I have been around this place so many times (when I go to Macdonald’s) and actually never thought a little rock will ever hit my car. Well, looks like happens to everybody, it was just my first time and I did not know that in order to repair it, you have to act quickly or the crack spreads like crazy. And that was happened to me, I didn’t act fast and when I tried to come here and do a fix, my crack was bigger than the proverbial ‘1 dollar bill’, so I ended up replacing it. But I kept this name in my head for the next time. And that next time happened today, in this case fortunately not in my car, but in my colleague’s car.
We were going to go for lunch when I saw a crack in the passenger part of the glass, so I told him to go to fix it immediately. My friend was giving it up already, thinking that would not be possible to fix. But the onwer of this handy kiosk did his wonders and in half an hour (less than took our Pollo Loco lunch) the deal was done. The damage costed $ 60 and he applied the Unilocal discount and was super helpful and informed us that has lifetime warrantee. Wow, that is a great business customer care! Also, if the glass need to be changed, then he will refund the $. We hope no, but this is very reassuring.

I got a decent sized nick on the windshield, which turned into a nice crack. I went to the dealership, thinking they wouldn’t charge more than $ 600 to replace… Boy was I wrong! They quoted me $ 1300! I immediately took to Unilocal hoping to find something. I found this place less than a mile from where I live, full of five star reviews.
I called and he said that I didn’t need an appointment at all, just come by before 5. So, I drove up and Gil said that it would only take twenty minutes. When I came back, it didn’t even look like anything had ever damaged the windshield! He told me that if I needed to replace the windshield later on it would be roughly $ 300 but that he’d put the total charge of this service towards that.
Really nice, HONEST guy, and I won’t go anywhere else anymore.
