The Pizza Wagon specializes in wood fired pizza catering. We bring our oven to your event and cook up delicious pizzas on the spot for you and your guests. The pizzas are made on a hand kneaded sourdough crust and topped with fresh and local toppings.

Pizza Wagon was started and still owned by husband and wife team David and Sharlene Klussman.

Pizza has been a part of my life since I was a child and the passion only got stronger as I got older. I came to San Diego with the military as I served for 7 years as a Navy Diver. Upon being honorably discharged I immediately built myself a wood fired oven in my back yard and learned how to make sourdough. This was my first experience cooking pizza in a real pizza oven and I was hooked! I had tons of pizza parties at my house just to have an excuse to cook pizza. Finally after I got enough encouragement from my friends and family I decided to start the Pizza Wagon. It has been over a year since I have been in business and I can truly say that I LOVE my job (if you can call it that). I feel so blessed to be able to do what I love and have people pay me for it :)

I recently hired the Pizza Wagon to cater a graduation party. We had over 100 people at our party and David (the owner) and his crew did an awesome job making wood fired pizzas for everybody.
I was looking to do something different for our party. When we found out about the Pizza Wagon we decided to give them a try. They bring out a brick oven to your site, fire it up, and by the time the guests arrive, they are making custom and unique pizzas. We received so many comments from our guests about what a great idea it was and how much they liked the pizzas. They were impressed that this was something they haven’t experienced at a party.
The Pizza Wagon will make whatever type of pizza you want but I recommend letting them create custom combinations. They made so many varieties at the party, so there was something for everyone. The pizzas are delicious.
I highly recommend the PIzza Wagon and would hire them in a heartbeat if/​when we have another catered party. Thanks David and crew!!!

I gotta the pizza for you!
I’ve seen this wood fire pizza establishment several times at the Rancho San Diego Farmer’s Market. Today, I gave in, and decide to try one of their personal size pizza for $ 6.
I ordered the pepperoni, mushroom, and roasted garlic on sourdough crust. (
) The pizza was baked to perfection. The crust was slightly crunchy and the dough inside moist and slightly chewing. The sauce was light, just the way I like it, and the mozzi, peperoni’s and mushrooms fresh. The crust was moderately thin and held up nicely to all the ingredients. (

They make a variety of pizzas (
) and they also cater. The people who work there are very friendly and informative. I learned that they use avocado and eucalyptus wood and they heat the oven to over 900 degrees. My pizza was done in a matter of minutes.

I can’t believe I am the second person reviewing them. Holly molly! Best pizza in town, hands down. Even better than Cuccina Urbana. Can’t recommend them enough. You have to get a bite to believe. I loved the smell of the wood smoke in the my pizza. Portions are good, service is best and the price is super reasonable considering the quality. From now on, Thursday evening are pizza evenings from Pizza wagon..
