I love this Postal Annex! Every time I walk in they say hello to me and my children and remembered our names from the first time we walked in. They are always helpful and kind. Always.

I live very close, and convenience is the main reason I’ve come here several times. I don’t think I will return, for several reasons:
Employees and/​or managers always seem to be gossiping openly in spanish even though they both speak fine English. If I was the owner, I would not allow this. It’s unprofessional to pretend like customers can’t overhear your gossip, and it’s needlessly polarizing. Aaaand it’s happened every single time I’m there.
The employees are rather slow sometimes, almost apathetically slow. If more than 3 or 4 customers show up, it can take an hour to get anything accomplished, even with 2 of them there. Ridiculous.
Their prices are absurd, especially on the cheap, chinese-​made junk they try to tempt you with. The final straw for me was when I brought a flash disc and simply wanted a few copies of my resume. They apparently still operate off of 1990s technology, because I was told I would have to email them my resume and it would cost $ 3.00 just for them to take 2 seconds to pull it up, PLUS the cost of the prints. Of course, doing that changed the format of my resume, and the girl refused to allow me to correct it. All it takes is 1 minute of hitting a few backspaces to correct the issue. Even staples lets you come behind the desk to fix something real quick. This girl denied assisting me because she didn’t want to take an extra 1 minute of her time, or let me behind the counter at the far end of the store. Because of this, they lost me as a customer for good.
The reviews for this place are consistently terrible. Wise up and make some changes, before you close just like Radioshack did, right next door. You can’t rest on your location, Postal Annex. Train your employees to provide better customer service. Going just a little out of your way to assist customers goes a long way, trust me. And girls, it’s better to work a little harder now to improve the place, rather than be out of a job later. That’s common sense, no? I have a hunch this place won’t last much longer.

I went to this place during my lunch break to make sure notary services would be available when I got off work. The clerk told me that as long as I should up before 4pm I could get my documents notarized. I returned at 3:30pm on to be told that the person who does the notary had left. I reminded the clerk that what she had told me earlier, she rolled her eyes and sarcastically said, «she left @ 2:00pm» soon rude! I won’t ever return or recommend their services!!!

The other reviewers are right. This place will rip you off without giving a hoot about it. Stamps are $ 5 more than at the Vons next door. Just go there! I’ve come here out of convenience (I live nearby) but never again. I’d sooner drive the extra few minutes to the post office in Santee than mail anything else out here. I tried to return my book of stamps after stopping by Vons and realizing how much cheaper they were there. I was curtly told all sales are final. A couple was in there at the same time as me, and they were complaining because of the outrageous fees (it cost them nearly $ 90 to ship a laptop to a manufacturer, I believe). Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. It’s a rip-​off!

Do NOT go here. I understand that this is a convience type post office so prices should be higher but they charge At Least triple what you will pay at usps and it takes packages twice as long to get to your destinaation. it took two weeks and 56 dollars to send a pound and a half tiny box to san fran… horrible service as well I waited for at least twenty min and I was the only one there

Having lived in 5 different cities in the past 10 years, this Postal Annex location, is without a doubt, the best private mailing facility around.
I established a mailing address at this location to receive my business overnight deliveries. The staff has been the friendliness and most helpful clerks ever. Two of the nicest and most conscientious clerks I have met.
This location is always open on time, which means FedEx is able to deliver packages early in the day. Other private mail facilities are not open early enough, or the clerks do not keep regular hours, and then FedEx is turned away by a locked door.
Whenever I needed to ship boxes they made it so easy. They have access to all necessary packing materials, and will pack and ship everything in one stop. No more hunting around for a proper box or packing supplies before standing around at the USPS. Why pack and seal a box only to have the USPS complain that you used the wrong tape, or didn’t seal it correctly.
Believe me, if you find yourself in the Allied Garden neighborhood of San Diego, and need packing or shipping, it will be a great relief to use their services. Granted, you don’t get packing service for free, but even the USPS will charge you for a roll of tape.

Horrible attitude from the public notary. She was very misleading with the price. When I questioned her, she grabbed the document back and said she could just rip it up if I didn’t want to pay TWICE what she led me to believe it would cost. I was in a rush, so just accepted it, but felt completely taken advantage of.
I got ripped off by this place and encourage Unilocalers to go somewhere else!

I wish I could give this place no stars. Please save yourself the hassle and headache and go somewhere else. I mailed 6 packages from here since waiting the 45 minutes at the post office is not an option with a 4, 2 and 1 year old. The woman working told me they did not ship USPS when I questioned why a box that is normally $ 16 at the post office was shipping through them for $ 29 with FedEx. $ 76 later I walked outta there feeling pretty taken advantage of.
Fast forward to dinner that night when I get a phone call from the postal annex. The manager tells me the woman working moscharged me. And the manager would like to know whether I want to come in or pay over the phone for the additional amount taking my total to $ 96 and some change. $ 96 for three small boxes and three small bubble mailers?! I let her know I would be coming to collect my packages and she could refund me the full price. Her reply? «it’s too late, we mailed them out already.» Well then, it’s too late for my payment. I wouldn’t have mailed it in the first place if I had known they were going to charge just south of $ 100. Now I’m playing the waiting game to see if they illegally charge my credit card anyways. Good thing I have an awesome bank.

These people are LIARS! They not only overcharged us but then smirked with the information that all purchases are non-​refundable. Well if I knew what you would charge me until after you printed out the receipt, I would have not paid it. And where does it say no refunds? On the receipt after you paid.
And Elizabeth B, wow, you really think everyone is stupid and not knowing that this is not the post office? You are alone in liking them here, maybe it indeed is because everyone else brings out the worst in them. Or maybe it’s because they really are a bad business. Look up Occam’s razor. You can buy stamps at Vons next door without being massively overcharged, or worse lied to.
Avoid these people. They were nasty to me too. And smelled bad in there.
Complain to the BBB! They already had a bad rating from the BBB.

I suppose many people don’t know the difference between a Postal Office and a Postal Annex. The annex is going to have a surcharge because they are a convenience stop. Think convenience store compared to the grocery store. So if you don’t want to pay a little extra, be sure to go the the USPS when they are open and stand in the long lines.
For me I like shopping here because the staff is always helpful and nice to me. Maybe I just bring out the good in people, who knows. Plus, I like the cute gifts they have at this location. I have purchased many stocking stuffers and quick gifts for my friends here that they have all loved.

This is a «wish I could give 0 stars» review… They deserve these reviews and worse.
My husband posted a package there for me and bought stamps. I noticed the postage rate was way higher than I expected. Then I noticed the stamps alone were $ 5 more than face value! I had no idea that you were allowed to do mark them up so dramatically. It’s not like they’re providing some kind of service — it’s stamps! You can get them at Vons next door. I knew these places ripped you off with their boxes and stuff but stamps…
And get this, when we went back there to get a refund on at least the stamp part of the ripoff, they told us they have a no refunds policy. How convenient. Of course they did not tell us this, until afterward. What so they can charge you $ 1000 for stamps and then oops, final sale! That’s seriously the case here.
They were also incredibly rude to us.
Don’t even go in there. They might take your shirt off your back.

I would not give this overpriced place my $$ if my life depended on it.
I got my gifts for the holidays wrapped and decided to try and get them sent out after the Post Office was closed. They were open a little bit later so I went in thinking I had scored… not so fast.
I carried the first two boxes in from my car, struggling to get through the door while the chubby little saleslady ignored me and chatted with her manager about some BS that had nothing to do with customer service or the job that she was being paid to do.
After bringing in the second load, I hear a voice at the last counter yelling at me to come down there… um yeah, I’m trying my best… keep snacking of whatever that smelly thing is that you are eating in the store and watch me struggle. I’ll get there when I get there!
So I have all of the packages labled and she starts telling me the address doesn’t look right on the package going overseas. I said It’s the right address, I have sent stuff there before. My family lives there and they get my stuff. She insists its wrong. I ask why? Has she ever been there? No… she just thinks it looks weird. Alrightie then.
Moving right along… She weighs the 1^st little package and tells me its going to be $ 38 to ship. WHA?# !
Seeing as the value of the gift is $ 50 I had to catch my breath. I asked her. What’s your markup on shipping? She refused to tell me and said she didn’t even know. It was then that I noticed her nametag: Alejandra Abra, MANAGER. Don’t know or won’t tell? Hmmmm… I smell a rat.
She became very rude when I explained to her that the price seemed a bit high. She actually had the nerve to tell me that if I couldn’t afford the price maybe I shouldn’t be sending gifts. Wow. I expect that kind of rhetoric back east but in Mission Gorge?
I brought in a $ 100 bill to ship 4 packages, which normally would have been enough if the markup at your rip-​off-​of-​a-​place weren’t so exhorbitant.
She then tried to stick it to me with a «$ 2.00 Labor fee» Sorry, lady you are outta your mind, I think you owe me for wasting precious minutes of my life with your BS and insulting attitude.
Finally I had had enough of all of these shenanigans. I decided to take my packages back and send them from the good olé fashioned post office the next morning.
Fast forward to the Grantville Station post office in the AM…
Line, short. Postal employees, polite. The package that I tried to send the night before that she was going to charge me $ 38 for… only cost me $ 11.52 for the exact same thing. Priority Mail.
Postal Annex Mission Gorge you are on crack.
Oh, and PS the markup on their 1^st class postage stamps is .18 on a .42 cent stamp… EACH STAMP!
Do yourself a favor, if you really want to waste money in this economy, go home and flush some cash down the toilet.
