History

Established in 1995.

Balloon Utopia started in Los Angeles, Ca under another name. Sandi, our head designer, then travelled all over the world delighting audiences, teaching other balloon artists and perfecting her trade. In the year 2000, after a year in Japan, and two years in Israel, Sandi returned to her hometown of San Diego where she and her husband opened the company under it’s new name of Balloon Utopia.

Balloon Utopia, from the very beginning, focused on taking balloon art to levels that people didn’t expect. We strive to match the décor to our clients’ vision and budget by staying on top of new trends in the industry, challenging ourselves, and maintaining a leadership role in the balloon and special events industries.

Sandi M.

Business Owner

Sandi Masori has been a balloon artist, designer, decorator, entertainer and industry educator for over 15 years. She has traveled all over the world delighting audiences and training balloon professionals. She was the first female balloon artist to put out an instructional video for the industry. Her instructional videos have all reached the «best seller» level.

Sandi was one of the pioneers of the «deco-​twisting» movement. A movement within the balloon industry to encourage balloon entertainers to use more decorating techniques and decorators to use more entertainment or «twisting» techniques. This provides more detail and greater versatility of design.

Sandi is currently head designer of Balloon Utopia. A San Diego based balloon décor and entertainment company that serves the Southern California area. Balloon Utopia is one of a small (but growing) number of balloon companies who proudly can offer both décor and entertainment with equal fluency and expertise.

I met Sandi Masori, the owner of Balloon Utopia, at a marketing conference in San Diego and was sufficiently impressed to commission her aid in computer and other technical issues I was dealing with in her capacity as an Internet Marketing Coach. Unfortunately, I was soon disappointed. Based on having only a verbal agreement with Sandi, I paid upfront for 10 hours’ worth of her services, but ended up using only two hours out of the ten hours within a 12 month time frame. I politely requested a reimbursement of the remainder of my original fee, which had been substantial, but Sandi was not forthcoming. Despite repeated pleas for a refund, and at the very least, a response of any sort from Sandi, who had been resolutely silent on the matter, I received neither.
If I want my money, I suspect I will now have to pursue her through the Small Claims Court. I realize now that I should have insisted on a written contract, but still feel that this is a duty that should be carried out by the provider of a service, rather than the client. After all, it is their business, not mine. This experience has certainly taught me a lesson for the future — always get a written and signed contract to protect yourself against untrustworthy providers.
I cannot therefore, recommend Sandi Masori of Balloon Utopia. I sought an amicable solution to our situation, but Sandi’s actions, or rather lack of action, have made this impossible. I have found her business practices to be less than honorable, primarily for failing to respond to my very reasonable requests for reimbursement.

Sandy is AMAZING! If I could give 10 stars, I would. She did my son’s first birthday party today and all of my guests were very impressed with the quality of her work plus her kindness. She can make anything you can think of and more! I’ve never seen such amazing hats and head pieces that she made for all my guests. if you’re looking for a balloon artist for your next event, look no further, Balloon Utopia is the best of the best. Superb! If you want a wow party Sandi is the girl for you. I have been using her services for at least 4 years now & she never disappoints. I give Sandi general vision. Then she creates & delivers beyond my expectations. Worth every penny! I love how creative she is she amazes me every time. Recently used her for my husbands 40th all white birthday. I was worried all white balloons would be boring but, I forgot who was creating them. 3 months after & people are still talking about the décor.

Sandi was amazing! Because of her, my little boy had a phenomenal eight birthday party!!! Every child present got awesome creation after awesome creation — from a bicycle to a princess to a bouquet of flowers to swords (a lot of little boys were present) to even a hatchet. She was wonderful!

I was really looking forward to having Utopia (Sandi) come and do face painting and Balloons for my sons 1st Bday… I had contacted Sandi over a week ago and she was really pleasant to speak with. She gave me all the details and info on what I needed to do to reserve the date for my party. Super simple and straight forward. She had told me I should receive an email with 2 – 3 days to get my reservation going… I was really bummed that to this day, I still haven’t received anything from their company. For some people, planning your child’s 1st birthday is such a big event that you want to make sure things are done on a timely manner. I hear lots of good things about Utopia, but unfortunately I had to reach out to another company that can give me a set in stone reservations right away to cross off my «to do» list.
Oh well, maybe next time I’ll contact her 3 – 6 months in advance :/​bummer

We used Sandi and her fantastic team for one of our Corporate events. They did exactly what the client had asked, however, the clients vision was not what she had verbalized. Sandi and her team did not miss a beat and went out to get supplies for a whole new and completely different type of arch.
Sandi and her team made this all happen while being extremely profesional eventhough they literally were racing againt the clock to get this done in time for the event. The client came in and was blown away by how Sandi had brought her vision to life and was smiling from ear to ear.
I can not say how happy I was to be working with such a reliable, professional, and creative company.
You cant go wrong with Balloon Utopia, they simply are the BEST!!!

Ditto what everyone else said! We called the week before my daughter’s party and they were able to accommodate us with the late notice. They were professional and punctual. They created an arch, a few standing balloon pieces, and some table centerpieces. Our guests ooh-​ed and ahh-​ed over the décor. (Come on, throw a ton of balloons in, and you can’t go wrong!) It was creative and more than we could have imagined. I would call Sandi again and recommend them to everyone!

If you use Balloon Utopia you get excellent service and great balloons.
I loved working with Sandi. I needed balloons for my son’s bar mitzvah, and was on a strict budget, but had little idea of what exactly it was I wanted. Sandi helped me come up with a simple, but very attractive and festive design, and did it all within my budget. No weird hidden fees or last minutes changes either which I am grateful for.
Sandi met me at my temple to check out the place and made sure she set up according to the temple’s restrictions (they are very picky about when the balloons can be set up). She also managed to set up two extra centerpieces at the last minute when I realized I needed extra tables to accommodate my guests. She didn’t even charge me for those as she knew my budget was all used up!
Anyway, I really liked working with Sandi and I think she was the easiest person I dealt with of all the party planning. I definitely recommend her and her business.

Sandi is awesome! This clearly isn’t a hobby of hers and she knows what she’s doing. A true professional balloon artist! She is lovely with kids AND adults. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about her from out child’s 1st birthday party. We just gave birth to a second child and are highly considering contacting Sandi and Balloon Utopia again.

I have used Sandi and the team at Balloon Utopia several times over the past few years for corporate events. They are always so willing to work with me on my budget (which has been getting smaller and smaller over the years because of the economy). Sandi always gives great advice and we save some money by helping her assemble the balloon center pieces for our event. Everyone is always so impressed with the decorations and the balloons make us feel like we have spent way more money than we did. I strongly recommend Sandi and Balloon Utopia to anyone… even if you aren’t a corporate event. She is great to work with.

Incredible! I have seen many different events that Balloon Utopia has done, and every single time I am extremely impressed. She has such a talent and such an eye for these things.
