I’ve been meaning to leave this review for a long time. We had precision general come to our home for a roof estimate last September. Our salesman Thomas Cook explained that we could do what they call a lift & relay on our tile roof, for about 25% of the cost of the new roof we thought we needed. This process includes new underlayment with a 50 year warranty against leaks. Once Thomas found out our electric bill was $ 350 a month, he showed us how he could save us even more money with solar and a huge tax credit. Now to the installation process… the roof was done in one day, the solar was done in two. The crews were professional, polite, and the job turned out great! Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the entire process. Thank you Thomas & the precision team!

Precision General is the real deal! I have to be honest with everyone out there in the Unilocal world, I am the most difficult customer you could have. I needed the consultant to come out 4 separate times to answer all of my questions, which he did. I was crystal clear with what I wanted done, when I wanted it to start, and the timeline I wanted it finished in. Everything went exactly as I was told! Thomas told me it would take 2 days for the install, so I expected to see 2 guys on the roof. I was pleasantly surprised to see 8 guys installing my solar system and they finished my install in 5 hours flat! VERY impressed — thanks, you guys!

All I can say is wow! We bought solar from Precision on ²⁄₂₀ & the panels were on our roof 28 days later. The entire process was seamless, from the office staff to the installation crew. The salesman who initially came to see us, Thomas Cook, was amazing. He explained the entire process, and gave us a great low interest alternative to the pace program all the other companies were pushing on us. We really appreciated his thoroughness, and we’ve already referred 2 of our friends to him. Thanks Precision for a job well done!

We entered into an agreement with Precision General Contracting to provide HVAC, tankless water heater, upgraded electrical panel and solar. This was agreed to in September. They installed the HVAC real fast. The HVAC installer took a few short cuts. He left with the job unfinished and not working properly. When he left he said he would come back and do some minor wood work to the inside cabinet where the furnace was placed. When I got home the furnace did not work at all and had some blinking red lights that were some sort of error message. The AC unit outside was left loose and not secured to anything. We called our sales guy Thomas Cook and he got the HVAC installer out to our house the next day to fix the furnace issue. I asked the HVAC installer for a business card and he said he didn’t have any. I thought this was weird and now I know why. He never showed up to finish the wood work. He also left scrap pieces of wood and electrical parts (nails and screws) in the front and back yards. We then didn’t hear anything for the next few weeks. We had to call the office to check on when they were going to do the other stuff on the list. The girl that answered the phone was not nice and flighty. She didn’t seem to know or want to do anything. We then called Thomas again and let him know. He said he would have the tankless water heater guy come out. This guy was great. We had no issues with his work. Everything is working great and he cleaned up after himself. We then asked Thomas about the status of our solar and electrical panel install. He had the office call us to set up a «fake» appointment for the solar install. Three days before the appointment date, the office called to cancel. She did not give a reason why and said she had no idea when they would be calling us to reschedule. This company will tell you things to pacify your concerns. We did figure out that they flat out lied to us more than once.
Update: Our solar install finally took place on the 19^th of January. We started the process on September 17, 2014. At that time we were told That the work would diffidently would be done by the end of the year. «No worries» Well that didn’t happen. A few days after the install we got a call from Scott asking why we didn’t sign the final paper work. I told him they were not done. He had no idea what still needed to be completed. He is the general contractor. Shouldn’t he know we are not done! I had to tell him what work we still needed.
When we entered into this agreement we used a «general contractor» because we didn’t want to deal with making appoints and making sure the work was done properly. Both my wife and I work full time and have 2 small kids. We wanted someone to coordinate the entire project. Precision general contracting did not do that. I will post again when the process is finished.
Update: The work has finished. It took about 6 months to get done. Twice as long as the projected when selling us the system. We had to start the hero process from scratch because Precision twice failed to file an extension on time. The overall quality of the work was not good. Overall we would never recommend Precision General Contracting to anyone.
update to the update: The last thing I want to say about Precision General Contracting is that the sales guy mis-​represented the total price when he sold us the system.
5−15−16 Another update… This last week AJ called to ask me how the Solar system is working. The actual reason he called was to try and get me to delete this review. I always wondered why they didn’t have more negative reviews. It kind of troubled me and in the back of my mind I thought it was me. Now I know it is not me. AJ offered me 300 dollars to delete this review. I could not believe it. I told him that wouldn’t be fair to Unilocal and its users.

We had our solar installation done by Precision General and were very happy with the whole process. They treated us very kindly and were extremely professional and not pushy. We had many other companies come through for quotes but Precision General had the best prices, best solar panels, and explained things the best. When the installers came to install the solar panels I was amazed how super, super thoughtful and professionally they performed. Honestly, I was really wowed. I love the way that they arranged the panels on our roof because it looks nicer than some other houses that I see. We started saving money on our electricity bills right away. I highly recommend them.

I am very pleased with my new roofs served by Precision General Contracting. The contractors showed up on time everyday, they were courteous, knowledgeable and paid great attention to details. They worked diligently and cleaned up after work, leaving no mess. When I requested part of the job redone, they sent the field manager and set things right immediately. The overall quality of the work was good and the price was very fair. Follow up calls were made to ensure the satisfaction.

We can’t say enough good things about Precision General’s solar operation. The sales rep was knowledgeable and straightforward. We had seen several other bids, he recognized that and cut straight to the chase with a more than competitive bid. The only cheesy part of the pitch was the «can we put a sign in your yard» — what the hey, go ahead if you’re saving me a couple grand! Signed the contract, a small down payment, and he was on his way.
Now, other than a couple of phone calls regarding scheduling, Precision handled permits, etc. seamlessly. A few weeks later and we got a call with in install date that worked for us.
Thursday morning (the agreed date) at 7:50 I noticed their trucks parked down the street (I had requested no earlier than 8:00), at 8 sharp the foreman rings the bell and they set up the jobsite. 4:00 he rings the bell and says they’ll be back to finish in the morning. Same thing the next day — 8 on the nose and they finished the job, cleaned up, and gave me a primer on the few things I needed to know about the system.
Now comes the good part. We’ve heard horror stories about actually getting the city (Carlsbad, notoriously difficult to deal with) and SDGE to sign off on the permit and officially allow us to flip the switch on the system. Somehow, Precision arranged the Carlsbad inspector to be at our house at — you guessed it — 8:00 A.M. that Monday! He quickly signed off on the system. Amazingly, later that day I got an email from SDGE telling us we’re ready to go, I turn the switch and goodbye $ 300/​month electric bill.
Since the installation we’ve had several followup calls to ensure our satisfaction. Shortly after the install we had a huge windstorm and one of the panels was loose enough to flutter a little. I called the next morning and — yeah, 8:00 the next morning a 2 man crew arrived to tighten the whole system, just in case. Other than that, no issues whatsoever. I finally took down the sign, though…
Overall amazing experience — as «hands off» as dealing with contractors can be!

Representatives claiming to be from Precision General Contracting call me SEVERAL TIMES EACH WEEK from a number which I’ve been able to trace back to Precision General Contracting in San Diego. If you call the 760 number you get a recording that says the number is out of service. There are many complaints on «800-​notes» about this company. Half the time when they call they just hang up when they hear my voice — guess they’re hoping for a male voice. The other times I get the pitch for solar or contracting services. I’ve told them to remove me from their call list, I’ve told them we will be putting our house on the market soon and are not interested in upgrades. I told them we don’t do business with companies that «cold-​call» us, and certainly don’t do business with companies that call from numbers that are «phony» or «out of service». Doesn’t matter… within two days I’ll get another call. I normally don’t answer when I see their number come up, but today I picked up the phone by accident, and there was «Steve» with the usual sales pitch…
Does a reputable company do business like this? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! Note to Precision General Contracting: since you won’t listen to me when you call me (several times each week), maybe you’ll take notice when your annoying sales tactics are layed out on Unilocal. Stop hanging up on people… stop calling after you’ve been asked to not call again… stop calling people who are on the National Do Not Call List… stop calling from «spammed» numbers. JUST STOP CALLING! You can be fined for each call made after being told to stop — so keep it up, and I’ll be able to pay for solar power for my NEW house with the fines collected from your business!!!

We were getting 3 calls a day from Precision using some robot spam dialer. I called the # Precision General Contracting at (858)384−6464 and asked to be removed. We’ll see if they comply. Terrible business practice. I will not do business with this company.

Yet again we went with Precision and we are happy yet again. I’m not going to lie, there were some minor and expected hiccups like finding the right color to coat the outside of my house. But that’s my hiccup, not theirs.(#womenproblems)The mixing process to find the right color of coating slowed the process down slightly but in the end we had a terrific crew of happy, friendly people who answered every question I had and patiently awaited me picking out colors!!! They diligently worked on all the blemishes on our house and cleaned up after themselves when done. Our home looks awesome! Thanks again Precision.

The Field Manager came to our house to give an estimate on repairing the roof. He was very professional and courteous. I was surprised at such a high estimate because he never set foot on the roof. Fortunately, I had more bids and was able to have the necessary work done professionally for 33% of Precision’s bid. I imagine that Precision does great work but did not want to pay the extra to confirm this.

Great company, they were on time, they got the job done in the expected time frame.
I had 2 other bids that were higher.
I recommend these guys to anyone!

Precision came in at the same price as the two other estimates for solar, with more power generation. While I was not a very big fan of the company they contracted the work through, Precision went above and beyond in trying to make amends for the multiple issues that came up. Honestly, I was little upset a few times, but Precision understood and went about correcting the issues professionally and with haste. While most of the issues were out of their control they never made it seem like it was my fault, they corrected all the issues and also went above and beyond adding things not originally in the bid at no extra cost. Heck, they even refunded me a whole months electricity bill because their vendor had caused so many delays. While people may expect that, they didn’t have to do it. The process was a little stressful, but the end result was worth it. I will ask them to come back to bid on any more work I may have done to my home in the future.
I would have given 5 stars, but I was not a fan of the Vendor. Precision themselves were great to deal with, but the vendor put a bad mark on the situation. Mostly just delays for one reason or another never anything threatening or damaging. The workmanship looks great and the system is producing as advertised by the their representative.
