Excellent work on my car. Would go there again.

The best mechanic I’ve ever had. He is fair, honest and trustworthy. He does great work at reasonable prices. I’ve never felt taken advantage of or ripped off. He is always friendly and remembers my name every time I go in. This is the only place I trust taking my cars. I definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a great mechanic.

Although I have not been to Quality Automotive in about 5 years, I would have to agree, that HANDS DOWN, Thanh is definitely one of the Best Mechanics in San Diego!!! When my husband and I first moved to San Diego, my car needed some work for what, I can’t even remember, but my sister in law told me to take my car to Thanh, and needless to say we were so pleased that he became our go to mechanic. It was a pleasure meeting Thanh and his family, he is for sure a Stand Up guy!

What can I say when it comes to selecting a good mechanic shop! Thanh and his staff were very helpful and knowledgeable! Thanh explained to me what was wrong with the problem on my car and his services are decently priced. Since we were new to the area, I’m a little skeptical and picky about new places and about the price of services. I was given a way higher quote back where I lived at and I mainly base my choices on tons of reviews and research and the impression I get when I actually seek services. The man at the front desk was also friendly and helpful not only in ordering our car parts but also recommend things to do with my family here in San Diego! Quality automotive is my place to go to maintain my cars and would recommend them to other family and friends! I’ll definitely be back!

I took my car here on a recommendation and was very satisfied with the work done and the price paid. I had a mysterious «knock» which another service center could not find. Tahn found the cause within 5 minutes. Seriously. My car runs solid and knock free now. Highly recommended.

These guys did it again! JC took care of another disaster with our aging car. He was so patient and reasonable with us. I’m so glad QA is here in San Diego. Can’t imagine a place more helpful, fast, and budget friendly than they. Thanh’s work is always 5 stars and they always go the extra mile without charging extra. Thanks again!

Well I went here again can’t explain how happy I feel with these guys. Had my lift kit put on here and they noticed that some of the front end parts were bad. Fixed them and got my truck aligned excellent job again so impressed.

My car had a starter problem. I decided to try Quality Automotive because of the good Unilocal reviews this place has been getting. It’s not the cheapest place I could find, but the person on the phone sounded helpful. I took the car in on Monday. Thanh confirmed that it was indeed a problem with the starter. The starter was replaced and I drove home.
On Tuesday I didn’t use the car.
On Wednesday morning the car wouldn’t start at all. I called Quality Automotive and Thanh picked up the phone. He told me to just get the car towed in and that everything will be free. I called a local towing company to tow my car to Quality Automotive. Thanh told me the my car has a kill switch that was preventing the car from starting. He also ordered another starter. My family bought this car in new condition from a dealer back in 1999. This car is now 16 years old. We never use this so called «kill switch». He convinced me to let him remove the kill switch. I wait in the waiting area for about 15 minutes, but couldn’t stand how grim the place was so went to the car to grab my stuff before I went on a walk. In the driver’s seat was the kill switch with all 4 wires. He had finished removing it already. On the walk I get a call from Thanh saying he has replaced the starter and removed the kill switch and the car is ready to be picked up. When I return I am presented with a bill of $ 89 for removal of the kill switch. If he had told me it would cost money to remove an already disconnected kill switch I would never have allowed him to remove it. He then tells me he won’t pay for towing because it wasn’t a starter problem. Why did he replace the starter if it wasn’t a starter problem?! It only took 15 minutes to take the kill switch out. He could have given me my car back then. So upset. Waste of my time! After missing a day of work and paying another bill this place isn’t even cheap compared to other places.
I am not going back.

These guys were great! I took my car in on a Friday knowing it would probably be held overnight and be able to pick it up on Saturday since I had a small list of things I needed fixed. Not only did they fix it all that same day, but they were able to fix something instead of replace the whole part as I had asked them to! They saved me some good money. I will take my car there from now on!

I had my A/​C repaired here (replaced condenser and condenser grill). The Toyota dealership quoted me $ 1638. Thanh picked up non-​Toyota parts costing me only a little over $ 600 total. Timely, professional job.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING!!! My car had some major problems and took it here to get it fixed up. I had a real bad oil leak, thermostat replacement, water pump, wires and more. JC is the mechanic that ores on my car and his work is AMAZING. He basically fixed up my whole car. He is very upfront, honest, and was more concerned on my car problems than my billing. They worked with me all the way through even as far as letting me split my bill bc all of the work that had to be done in it. These guys are saviors. You definitely won’t be disappointed bring your car here.

Only 1 mechanic I trust my cars to in San Diego… Thanh! A truly honest mechanic with fair pricing for both parts and labor.

I absolutely LOVE Tahn and this shop! Tahn has worked on my cars (both mine and my mother’s car) for the last 6 or 7 years. He is honest, reasonable, family oriented, and one hell of a mechanic! I would never trust my cars to anyone else! If you want a mechanic who does outstanding work, then Quality Automotive is your place! :)

business with. Don’t know how he makes money sometimes… I have had work done here many times and out of curiosity have ask other mechanics for a quote on the same job and it’s sometimes double… If you want good QUALITY work at good prices and most importantly not over sold on stuff you really don’t need this is the place to go. Would NEVER let another person touch either one of my cars… I think Tahn is the owner that’s who I deal with!!! It’s hard to get honest mechanic work done these days seems everyone is chasing a buck and want to over sell you. This guy is opposite even if you want it and it’s not needed he won’t do it… I love this place … Thanks Tahn you got a customer for life and I will ALWAYS recommend family and friends to you…

Honest, reliable and gets the job done fast! My family has been taking our fleet to Than for over 20 years and his knowledge about cars is only superseded by his work ethic. The first time I took my car in he fixed it for half of what another mechanic wanted and did it the same day when the other guy said he would have to keep it overnight. It doesn’t matter what we’ve thrown at him — big or little jobs, foreign and American cars — he just know what to do and he does it right, he does it fast and at a great price. I wouldn’t take my car to anyone else.

I have a Honda Civic 2002 that had oil leaking into the oil pan so I thought MAYBE, I just needed that replaced. Good thing the mechanic here caught on that I wasn’t even sure and told me he’d check what it was first before he replaced and charged me for something that wasn’t even broken. I can’t say specifically what he ended up finding was the problem because I just don’t know what that part was, but whatever he did, worked. The part got replaced, and I waited a few months to make sure it’s working fine and my car has been swell since then! I will come back for whatever needs I have in the future.
BTW, I personally thought this place was sort of hidden because the sign didn’t stand out as much as the other places like «ORW» or whatever. But just an FYI, they’re located behind a veterinary hospital.

I’m a guy, and as a guy, I work on cars in my garage. I have my car jacked up every weekend and I’m either in the hood or you can see my feet sticking out from under the car. Or, at least that’s what I should be doing, right?
Well, seeing as how I don’t know too much about cars beyond the basics, whenever I get a funny noise or a new light on my dash, I take my whip to Tyson at Quality Auto.
My dad found this garage probably close to 20 years ago. Since then, everyone in my family takes their car to him and I recommend this place every time I can. I have many friends that still take their cars to him.
He’s an honest grease monkey and does good work at good prices. I’ve brought my car in a few times for random questions or small things, and never has he charged me for his time or any small adjustments he had to make. Don’t expect the same, cause he and I are bros, but if you keep taking your car to him and build a rapport, maybe in a decade or two you can be as special as me (I’m just kidding, I’m sure he does this for everyone)

I have been taking my 2002 Chevy Avalanche to Quality Automotive for 8 years. I have total trust in the owner, Thanh. He service is fast and efficient, and his prices are incredibly reasonable.
If you need a reliable mechanic with «Quality» service look no further!

I’ve been going to Tahn for over 12 years. He knows cars and knows how to make an honest buck. I have many female friends who know nothing about their cars and they don’t want to be ripped off. Quality is the place I send them.
If there is one thing to say negative, it’s that his shop can get very busy at times. But that just means that everyone else wants a good, honest mechanic working on their cars.

Recommended to me from a coworker (because I’m new in the area) I went to quality automotive because my car was making terrible noises. Than (the owner) is extremely professional and thorough… He fixed the problem pretty fast and I’m extremely happy with the results. His prices are very reasonable — and I know this because I asked my dad who has been a mechanic on the east coast for over 40 years.(so I am very careful about who I go to)
