Ranch Events

Great service. Plenty of good food. Some marginal complaints. I’d give it 4.5 stars if I could.
This year we decided to have Ranch Events cater our annual company holiday party. Leading up to the event, Bernardo the coordinator was very clear about what Ranch was providing, could provide, and couldn’t provide according to our needs. Being able to see the proposed charges line by line allowed us to make budget-​conscious decisions for this year’s event.
Last year, with another caterer, we ran out of food, which was a huge disappointment (especially considered that it was a buffet). That was hardly the problem with Ranch Events this year. We had a buffet with beef and turkey, and even though we all came hungry on purpose, and most everyone really liked the food, there was plenty left after everyone was satisfied.
We had a handful of vegans at the event this year. We asked for special vegan plates for them. With many places, that means «salad,» or if you’re lucky, «salad with soy cubes.» But per our vegans, the plates Ranch provided (some portabella mushroom deal) were delicious. One of our vegan guests even arrived late (at least 90 minutes after the buffet was set), and they still were able to serve her a warm vegan plate. Whether or not that would have been true if our event wasn’t at Marina Village, right next to Ranch Events, I don’t know.
Ranch does a lot of work with Marina Village, and it shows. They laid out the tables and made the best use out of our odd-​shaped room, and had the correct size linens for every table. It was the easiest set-​up I’ve ever «planned.» Ranch also cleaned up our trash after the event. When we tried to clean up after ourselves, the captain and his servers insisted that they would take care of it. But maybe they didn’t want our drunken asses making a bigger mess for him to deal with. Overall, their staff was professional, friendly, and accommodating.
Cons: My biggest complaint about Ranch is that while it would have been ideal to get appetizers, dinner, and dessert from the same vendor, what Ranch was charging for all three didn’t fit within our budget. We ended up getting lumpia from a Filipino restaurant and dessert from Costco. Another small problem is that while Ranch was able to serve vegan plates, they didn’t have any gluten-​free options for our single GFer. However, they were willing to reheat a GF meal we purchased from somewhere else earlier that day, and I think they even plated it. A third complaint is that we were served a winter white salad, which comes with shaved white chocolate. There wasn’t a note identifying the shaved white chocolate, so everyone thought it was cheese, and acted accordingly.
With that said, there were a lot of details to this year’s event, and Ranch Events got most of them right, especially the most important ones.

We have used Ranch Events several times for different occasions. From birthday parties to retirement parties to corporate events. Every time they are the best to work with, have great prices and everyone raves about the food! Their staff is professional, friendly and always a step ahead of your needs. I will use them forever!

I worked with Kathy Mansour for our Holiday Party in December I like her style! short sweet and to the point. My office manager was one of those overly frantic type but Kathy just gave this vibe that everything was going to be handled and all would be well. When we walked into our Holiday Event i was blown away. She ensured everything looked beautiful. I really enjoyed the venue from the décor and the food. We rented casino tables that we used in the seaside room as well as a photo booth and it was roomy!!! I defiantly recommend the venue for any party you are planning. Keep doing your thing Kathy your killing it!

I attended a wedding here on 12−12−15. The set up and food was good but I noticed that the banquet captain Bernardo, was particularly rude and/​or was unhelpful with his staff and the other vendors in front of the guests! Very unprofessional and if Ranch Catering wants to continue having successful events there, they need to train him on hospitality, manners and communication.
He yelled at his servers while guests were waiting for the ceremony to start inside the lobby area. He had to be reminded by the bride on special meals for some guests as well as her daughter. He neglected to mention any rules or regulations on their procedures there with the DJ or photography team thus making it awkward to deal with him the entire event. Luckily, they were very professional and the rest of the wedding was great. Whoever handles P & R for Ranch Catering should really replace Bernardo with someone who actually enjoys their job and has the proper temperament.

These guys catered an event that I attended at Casa Alexia in Little Italy called «Art for Heart» and the food and great service they provided were outstanding! They catered Mexican food and the presentation was beautiful. I’ve recommended them to several clients as well. I’d highly recommend this company.

My now-​Husband and I used Ranch Events to cater our wedding at the Spanish Village Art Center in Balboa Park. As two out-​of-​towners, we were searching for a venue and a caterer that could give our East Coast traveling guests a unique experience, which is when we found Ranch and their all-​star Event Coordinator, Ramon. When we first visited Ranch’s site, Ramon immediately made us feel comfortable about the process. We had sampled a few other foods and had settled in on Tacos, but no other vendor really made us feel confident they could deliver the food and the tables/​chairs as a one-​stop-​shop until we got to Ranch. Not only have we heard from our guests how fun and delicious the tacos were, the team at Ranch was able to set up our whole wedding and reception on a very quick timeline. Things could not have gone better with them.
When selecting vendors for your wedding, it can be super stressful and often you feel like you’re being looked at as a dollar sign, but we never did with Ranch and Ramon. We gave him what we were looking for, told him what we hoped our budget would be, and he shot us straight with how we could make it work. Not only that, when we ran into a jam for our rehearsal dinner and didn’t have linens, he was there for us, even though Ranch wasn’t catering our event. Really a stand up guy and someone we’ll always associate positively with when we think about our wedding.
If you’re looking for a low-​stress wedding, go with Ranch. They have everything you could need, tons of food options, and will help you from start to finish at a reasonable price. Couldn’t have been happier with how our wedding worked out, and have Ramon and Ranch to thank for it.

I hired Ranch Events to do the catering for my mother’s memorial service. Yvonne sent me food options, which we discussed along with a color scheme and I pretty much left it up to her. She went out to the venue, measured tables, counted chairs and came up with a diagram. The day of the event, she arrived early as did her servers. They put linens on the tables and set up everything beautifully. There were MANY more people that came than I had anticipated. I panicked a little telling my family not to eat at first. It then became apparent that there was plenty of food, even enough for the church to hold onto for after services the next day! The trays were never empty, they were refilled immediately and the food was really good. Especially the brownies on which several people commented!
Thank you Yvonne and servers for making this one thing I didn’t need to worry about on such a stressful day. Just wish I had done the flowers through you also.

Once again Ranch Events provided an outstanding evening for our 40^th wedding anniversary
The dinner was held at their Marina Village location and it could not have been a better night.
Our family & friends of 35 was treated royally with a wonderful meal, gorgeous table decorations and outstanding service.
The Best!

We had the Mexican menu (enchiladas and chicken fajitas with rice, beans, chips, salsa, and salad) for our wedding. Everyone was complimenting on how good it was. The set up and service was great, the staff we had stayed an hour later than expected because we were running a bit behind. They allowed us to pick up the linens the day before so we could set up centerpieces and during table set up we noticed one thing… several stains on the linens. They were small but on almost every one, on both sides so hard to hide. Overall not a big deal, I don’t think most guests noticed. I would still recommend Ranch for any wedding or event!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Rhonda, Scott and the Ranch Events crew for catering our wedding this past weekend! Everything was perfect. From the moment Scott arrived at the venue (earlier than expected, ready to go!) I relaxed because I knew he had everything well in hand. The food was AMAZING — many of our guests commented that it was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding. I highly recommend the braised short ribs as well as the watermelon feta salad. YUM! The Ranch Events crew used our centerpieces and floral arrangements along with their linens to create a magical décor. I can’t recommend them enough — this is the second event I have done with them and I wouldn’t hesitate to contact them again tomorrow if another event comes up!

Ranch catering catered my brothers wedding last night, 9÷25÷15 at Marina Village. Our banquet captain was Gio, he went above and beyond! He introduced himself right away to the bridal party, got us water while we were standing out in the sun before we were introduced by DJ, made sure he offered us the tray passed apps (which were phenomenal!). He made sure everyone was taken care of, always had a great attitude and kept checking on us.
His staff was Ernesto? And sal? I don’t remember their names, but 3 of them were rock stars! 3 people to an almost 100 person wedding and everything was flawless! They packed up all the left over food and brought it out to our car. Got the bride and groom a plate full of food before anyone else, kept refilling everyone’s water, no one had an empty glass. I am speechless the way everything was ran… working in the food and beverage/​catering industry, and I have never seen or experienced service like Gio and his staff. Thank you to them for making such a perfect night more perfect!
My mom worked with Rhonda for the planning and only had positive things to say about her too. For any catering needs I need in the future will be through ranch catering!

I recently got married at the seaside room. Ramon was amazing he was honest and helped me get the wedding of my dreams. If there was anything that didn’t go as planned he found a way to make it right and ensure our satisfaction. I would recommend his services.

Bernardo and the Ranch Events staff were great! From every step of the wedding planning and reception process they did an amazing job. The wedding setup, all aspects of the reception, food & the beautiful wedding cake that my wife loved from the moment she saw it.
More than a few of our guests were so impressed that they asked contact information which we gladly gave them.

Ranch events catered for my wedding at marina village on 08/​02/​2015 and it was fantastic.
Our main contact was Bernardo, he was very helpful. He got us a workable price when we explained our budget limitations, the whole time he was willing to work with us to give us what we wanted in our budget.
Everything was executed exactly as it should be, table and linen was set up well before the reception and the food was ready to go right on time.
We had the Mexican menu and the guests couldn’t stop talking about the enchiladas. We also ordered our cake and 4 kinds of cupcakes through them and many people told me they were the best cupcakes they’ve ever had.
I would certainly recommend ranch events! Ask for Bernardo!

I’ve been ordering cakes through the bakery at Ranch Events for about 6 years now… all my previous reviews are under «renaissance bakery».
My contact person is always Sindy and she’s prompt to reply and a pleasure to work with. I usually order about 3 birthday cakes from them a year. I’ve tried other cakes from people’s parties… that look just as good from the outside, but nothing compares to what it tastes like on the inside. I don’t think their pricing is over the top or anything either, especially for the quality taste of the cake and design work. Its definitely reasonable and well worth it.
Hands down… marble cake with bavarian cream and fresh strawberries is my favorite. This is still my favorite flavor, 6 years and running…

Catered for US NAVY Friends and Family Day onboard USS CARL VINSON CVN70. This event had MANY Logistical challenges.
Imagine trying to prepare food for over 4,600 sailors and their friends and families, getting access to the Naval Base, getting access to the Pier where the Ship is, getting all the food and equipment craned onto the Ship, using the Ship’s galley to cook the food and bringing up all the food to the Hanger Bay, then feeding all those people for over 8 hours at sea…
Ranch Events team was outstanding. I have to give them credit, watching them work was very impressive. What seemed to be a cluster, was a very organized and procient operation at work. Most of all, I appreciated their patience… patience in getting all of their stuff onboard and getting it all off, which took several days.
Ranch Events was recommended to me, and I Highly recommend them. It was a pleasure working with them and look forward to future events.

I had the pleasure of working with Ranch Events in a wedding that I coordinated this weekend. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and event etiquette of the Banquet Captain, Giovanni. He and the servers, Antoinio, Herbert, Chrissy and Bob were pleasant, attentive and allowed for a seamless event. I will not only recommend this crew to my clients, I will certainly call for them at my next event.

I would like to give Ranch Catering 5 Stars! We hired Ranch Catering for our daughters wedding on 4−25−15.
Our main contact person was Bernardo, he was Wonderful to work with. He listened to everything we wanted and didn’t want. He made this planning process a piece of cake! Bernardo was very thorough on everything, very organized, very professional, very fun to work with, and he had the Best Ideas and Suggestions to help our daughters Wedding be Perfect!
The day of the wedding, the weather changed on us, I sent Bernardo an email the morning of the wedding telling him of my concerns with the rain, he promptly emailed me back and said,“don’t worry, it will be taken care of!” I was so thankful for that!
During our reception our head Captain was Giovanni. This man was Awesome! Everything ran extremely smooth. The servers were incredible, and everyone on Giovanni’s team were such hard workers! All through the night Giovanni would ask my husband and I if he could get us anything. He was very attentive to everyone. My daughter said that Giovanni and his staff made their night one to remember ! Our guest kept telling us how wonderful and friendly and helpful the severs were.
Now for the food. The cocktail hour and dinner served were absolutely Perfect and Delicious! Everything that’s was served was incredible. Our friends and family raved over it. The displays and presentations were incredible! The attention to detail was unbelievable!
Bernardo and Giovanni with Ranch Events made this Wedding Reception Perfect, a night we will never forget! We will continue to use this company!

Amazing food! The food was way better then our initial tasting! And the cake was so delicious! Bernardo was great to work with, and made everything easy for us.
The only reason it’s not a full 5 star review is because the bartender didn’t really know how to make our signature drink, which was an old fashion. Otherwise everything was great!
