The ROK song list includes an eclectic mix of more than 200 tunes: classic rock, 80’s rock and pop, 90’s rock, country and more.

ROK has played over 500 live performances dating back to 2006 at San Diego venues such as House of Blues, Hard Rock Hotel, Viejas Dreamcatcher, RT’s Longboard Grill, JT’s Pub, 710 Beach Club, Tin Roof Bar, and scores of parties, weddings & corporate events.

History

Established in 2006.

Rock Out Karaōke was born out of necessity. After hearing too many bad versions of Frank Sinatra’s «New York, New York» at local karaōke nights, this group of talented, experienced musicians decided that they could provide a live band karaōke show with a vibrant song list full of rock & pop favorites; and that’s just what we’ve done.

Formed of members from local cover and original projects, ROK has refined the live band karaōke show over the years to provide the best entertainment money can buy.

When I first moved to San Diego in 2012, I used to love this band. The host was personable. Not to mention sober enough to run the show. I pretty much became a regular at 710 Beach Club because of them.
Fast forward 3 years, and I got service that was like Jekyll and Hyde. Apparently, tipping them at least a 10 spot will bump your song requests up. When I asked when my song will come up, the host said incoherently, complete with a drunken stupor «sooohhhnnn.»
I’m almost tempted to start my own rock band karaōke so customers will have other options to choose from besides this washed out wannabe joke of a karaōke band.

We used Rock Out Karaōke for our work holiday party at Parq Nightclub and they were amazing! The songs they played were fun and high energy. We had 250 guests attend and everyone had a blast! We definitely recommend Rock Out Karaōke as party entertainment!

Get in, feel like a Rockstar and scratch it off ur bucket list! These guys are true professionals and really make you feel like you have been singing with them forever. Amateur or professional singer, these guys know how to show you a good time and their regular crowd followers are legit to boot!!! Everyone should experience this at least once or even 10 plus times!;)

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for ROK until now. I’m a «regular» who has been following these guys for years. Once you do live band karaōke, you can’t go back to regular karaōke! ROK gives you the opportunity to live out your rock star dreams without committing to starting your own band or quitting your day job. All of the band members are so friendly, energetic, professional, and fun, and I just want to hug them all! They bring me joy and happiness :)

You guys ROCK! Not only are you talented, but also the energy you guys have on stage is beyond incredible. I was at the Tin Roof 10/​29/​2014 for the Unilocal Halloween Prom, and my hubby and I sang Love Shack and we loved being able to experience that with you and our Unilocal friends. It was another highlight of the party. Props to the guy who sang Possum Kingdom, I know he was on your team and emanated lots of stage presence. I promise you this… that if I ever have to throw an event, you will be the first on my call list. Our ten year anniversary is in a couple of years. be expecting our call, until then we will see you at the Tin Roof real soon.
Also Rock Out Karaōke has a large assortment from Rock to Pop. Also many choices for both sexes.

Time sure flies. Four years ago I originally posted a review when I saw these guys at 710 Club in Pacific Beach. This time it was the post-​party following the Elite Event: Halloween Prom at Tin Roof in downtown San Diego. Rock Out Karaōke takes the stage and continues to provide the perfect atmosphere for fun audience-​fueled performances.
My gamer past thinks back to the video game Rockband, where we took turns singing karaōke and playing toy instruments in front of the living room TV to a playlist with decades of pop hits. The game now sits in storage, but aspiring vocalists can continue their craft of singing with a live band, playing and providing backup vocals to your lead.
I am not a singer, even as a hobby. I am still recovering from a cough & cold where I lost my voice, but after several rounds of liquid courage, I kinda wanted to give it a go. After listening to a few performances and doling out well deserved high-​fives, a gal mentioned that the live band performance aspect was a completely different experience to the typical lounge scene. She really enjoyed it and would definitely do it again.
I think it would be helpful to the fans and groupies if their schedule was easily found on their main website page. If it’s there, I missed the link. My bad. I don’t FaceBook, so I’m not looking there either. Just sayin’.
I read someone else’s review about ROK’s limited playlist. While I am easily impressed with the band’s repertoire, I could see how discouraged a potential singer would be if a favorite karaōke song is not available. Maybe expanding the library to include more classic and current songs wouldn’t hurt.
Ready for the main stage? If you enjoy karaōke and energetic music performances, then consider Rock Out Karaōke. There’s nothing else quite like it in town. Doing it ROK style might leave you breathless, but you’ll love the unique experience.

Best money we spent for our wedding! My friends and family were (understandably) leery when I told them that there would be karaōke at the wedding, but then when they experienced Rock Out Karaōke, they were converts. There was not a single lull in getting people on stage to rock out, and everyone enjoyed singing or dancing along.
My only complaint was that one of the songs listed on their online playlist (the song my husband and I planned to sing) was no longer a song option. But we improvised and it worked out. But I easily can overlook that since their performance was what made our reception fun and unique. Plus, John was great to work with. Highly recommend them!

Had my first experience with ROK (and live band karaōke nonetheless) last night at JT’s Pub in Mission Valley. I love karaōke, and this takes it to a whole other level. I used to sing in a band and I definitely sing better with instruments around me than with a cheesy track by myself.
I had an amazing time. They started at 9:30 and finished close to 1:30. I stayed the entire time and was able to sing 3 songs. I got there early enough (8:30) to avoid anything at the door and first dibs on songs. Once a song is sung, they won’t repeat it, which is great.
The band seemed to love what they do and were energetic and fun the entire time. It does get loud as it’s a smaller space in the back and it can be hard to hear yourself sing, but I didn’t mind.
Once you ROK, you won’t go back to remedial karaōke. Hooked now and will become a regular.

Not the perfect end to a night in La Jolla but when you’ve had to many vodka’s things like this happen. We were ready for a night of karaōke when we pulled up to Rock Out. It’s a small bar with a large stage unfortunately it was open mic night not karaōke night. So what were we to do but have a few more drinks. We decided to come back on a Thursday for karaōke night or find another karaōke bar near by

An absolute blast! Not sure if they changed their format of signing up for songs or something but it was very fair, it didn’t seem that there was ever any favoritism. I sang twice and wanted to sing again but alas the 12:30 time limit was reached.
I would recommend this to anyone. The people who also sang we’re no superstars and it wasn’t as intimidating as I thought. They have a great song list and the venue was perfect for this event.
Get there early to be able to sing early or get there to start on the great drink specials of liquid courage.
5 star event, 5 star band, 5 star time.

Wow what a FUN place to spend a Thursday evening. Check the website for the shows schedule (tab at top) to be sure there will be (good) performers. We were fortunate to witness an miniature Idol Competition in which 5 performers were very, very good. After that, the band kept at it for like 10 more songs before taking a quick break.
The cover was a cheap $ 3 but the prices of the on-​tap beers were higher than I expected, so I practically feel like it evened out. This venue is great for groups or even just for one as it was so busy that there was plenty of hook up potential.
I was also impressed that the band was so charismatic while performing– this place overall knows how to have a good time. We will certainly go here again.

for serious y’all how can you hate on Rock out… I want them in my living room every Mon night for a ego boosting jam sesh– yea that’s the lingo for «session» look it up its science.
Anyways…don’t be mad at the bar people literally go every week… I mean I almost cried at one guys performance it moved me so. We all know the 710 club so what do you think it’s going to change one night a week? so here’s what you do…
Step 1 — Drive to 710 with your friends
Step 2 — Remove GIANT pole from your ass
Step 3 — Sing the most funnest song you can think of… like the Lazy Song or some thing
Step 4 — hang out and get drunk so your stupid ass lets go
Pretty much a recipe for a good time.
(Plus the bass player had a super rad fiancée– shout out to Kate!!!)

Let me just say first, the band is very good! They are very tight with playing as a group and pick up your selection of songs quite quickly.
I’m rating it a 2 because of my overall experience and that’s really what will define you as a business, or a band, or anything.
#1 Complaint — the way they select the people. I saw people going up there multiple times throughout the night and they didn’t even sign up again after their first one. Knowing that, you can figure they went there early and just signed their name three times. Really Rock Out? Really? My advice: that’s not how you’re going to get new people. It just wasn’t fun for a new group of people (i.e. — MY group of people) just sitting there watching people who probably attend this thing every single Thursday night singing their multiple songs.
I ended up signing up at 9pm and FINALLY got my name called, oh, around 12:10pm. Mind you, this was after their two sets and their so-​called «Bingo Round» where they pull your number so anyone can have a chance. That’s a horrible method. I know what they’re trying to do — get people to stay there the longest — but in the end, those people will never go back. And their «manager» will mention three times that they want $ 5 from you (after paying $ 2 to get in) to get a chance, yes, that’s right, get a chance to cut the line and sing your song before everyone else.
I left before they called my name. Once again, it’s just my experience with this band, but in the end, that’s what matters. Change your selection process! You’re not going to get new people.

Hand down the best karaōke experience in all of Southern California. The band puts a great deal of work into this and it shows. You sing with a great band with custom programmed karaōke lyrics to assist you. Nothing compares!
Their show at the 710 Beach Club comes with a pro sound guy (John) to get the mix just right! If you enjoy singing you wont be disapointed!

My Thursday nights will never be the same! I can’t really remember how I came across Rock Out Karaōke but I’m so glad I did. I followed them on Facebook for a while and the first time I saw them was at the Del Mar Fair, I dragged my sister around the fair searching for their stage. I had the opportunity to sign up but being up on that stage at the fair was waaay too much pressure. So I sat back and enjoyed everyone else singing.
The band seems like a great group of guys. They always look like they’re having fun and really enjoying their crowds. I go to 710 Beach Club almost every Thursday to see them. I stay until closing and I’m always shocked that they’re playing the last song of the night (time flies when you’re having fun!) The cover is $ 2 which is a small price to pay to see the band.
There are a lot of regulars and it’s entertaining to seem them every week. Again, I have never signed up although I wish I had the guts to… but my friends and I belt out the songs along with the band and the performers every time.
The song list is awesome, lots of old songs and new songs as well (Rolling in the Deep anyone?)…
All in all, a good time. I definitely recommend checking them out at their locations.

Rock Out Karaōke puts on one fantastic party for nerds like myself (and others I’m sure.)!
I went to the Unilocal happy hour and after Comic Con karaōke event that was put on last night (7⁄23), and I have to say. it was fabulous.
I’ve always liked karaōke. It’s a great outlet for people like me who sing in the car, in the shower, and in inappropriate situations. but have a terrible voice and want to sing in more places. So this was an appropriate place for me to belt out a fantastic tune! Their song list has literally a little bit of everything. I mean. they had a few Beatles songs, «Sexual Healing», and of course. Pour Some Sugar on Me aka «omg this is my song!».
I had a lot of fun. The band was great, talented, and friendly. If I see another event that these guys are at in the area, I may just have to go!

i was lucky to experience the awesome that is Rock Our Karaōke at the Unilocal Unleashed party. These guys seriously know how to energize a crowd and play some great hits while drunken Unilocalers sing their hearts out! I was fortunate to be able to finish up the set with Santeria with some friends and end the evening right.
If I were having a wedding or some other party, I would definitely hire these guys to entertain my guests. This concept beats the boring old karaōke that most of us are used to. There really is nothing like rocking out to live music! The guys are talented beyond belief and I only wish that my singing could match their playing.
I think we can all agree that the party was absolutely off the chain and that Rock Out Karaōke had a big hand in making it so. There’s nothing like gathering 700 drunken and stuffed people and giving them a microphone! Who ever thought it could be so fun?! Best party EVER!
