Romancing The Wind offers private sailing charters for groups of 7 – 27 passengers. Sunset or daytime cruises of 2 – 3 hours or more in San Diego Bay or beyond Point Loma. Our big beautiful boat is a sleek but spacious 55-​foot ketch, stable and comfortable. Enjoy relaxing sailing cruises or hands-​on team-​building adventures! Your personal sailing yacht with captain and crew! Perfect for family or social outings, weddings, or corporate groups. Limited public tours also available.

History

Established in 2014.

Run by the brother/​sister team of Captain Jack and Susan, Romancing The Wind is a gorgeous solid boat that we just had to share with others. She is a custom steel-​hull vessel built in 1985, unique in design and comfort. Purchased in April 2014 from the original owner, Jack has meticulously refurbished the deck areas to include ample cushioned seating and open space to interact with friends and family.

Jack is a licensed 100-​ton captain and yacht broker. Susan has a background in hospitality and events. Together they are the perfect team to share their love of boating and entertaining with San Diego visitors and locals alike.

Captain Jack makes his home aboard Romancing The Wind along with Sailor the Cat! Jack and his sister Susan grew up boating on Lake Mohawk in Sparta, New Jersey, and they now are happily sharing their love of the water with new local friends and visitors to Southern California.

Jack arrived in San Diego over 17 years ago sailing a 41-​foot Irwin from New Jersey, immensely enjoying the 8-​month journey via Newport Rhode Island, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands, Grenada, Venezuela, Aruba, the Panama Canal, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, and up the Baja. A few years in the future, Captain Jack plans to continue the adventure by sailing around the world on the perfect boat for such a voyage, Romancing The Wind.
