I wish I would’ve known about Ron sooner. To say he and his team are efficient is an understatement. I got my Jeep Compass ’09’s alternator replaced as my car sounded like a diesel car. Ron immediately pin pointed the problem and fixed it very quickly. His guys are professionals to say the least. Thank you!!!

What a great find! Really nice group of staff who are very clear about the services they provide, the pricing they’ll charge, and they even will call me in a few weeks after my car’s maintenance to make sure it’s all is running smoothly. Reasonable pricing for getting new headlights and harnesses with the total coming to about $ 175 for some new bulbs, harnesses, and labor for a Volkswagen Passat which you pretty much have to take apart in order to get into those headlights haha

After reading the many positive reviews about Ron and his team I say I concur whole heartily. I spoke one of the guys who answered the phone, then spoke with Ron setting expectations and reviewing my problem with my car. They were very complete yet fast. Ron’s advice actually saved me quite of bit of money when others could have easily up-​charged me on a lot of other services that would have cost much more. Ron met me with my car and gave me a plan on how to best care for it with the least amount of money and even gave me smog check plan and place etc. The office staff were fast and friendly as well. I wish all businesses were run like this.

Finding a good auto mechanic you trust, for me, is one of those things in life I dread the most. Once you find one, you hope they stay in business forever! Thankfully, I had a word-​of-​mouth recommendation for Ron’s Auto when I moved to North Park. I’ve taken my car in several times. They always clearly explain what needs to be done, and I never feel like I’m being sold something I don’t need. I trust these people. I hesitate to put in a good review, because I don’t want them to get so busy that I can’t make an appointment to bring in my car :)

Took my car to Ron’s for first time this month after reading reviews here on Unilocal.It was as I expected based on the reviews, the team was awesome including the communication before and during the repairs. Price was good and they were very efficient, done quickly. This will be my go to place in the future.

So it seems like auto shop Unilocal ratings generally skew to the five star end… way more than other types of establishments. Ron’s 5 star rating is not inflated. I have a mechanic that I’ve trusted for ages in Los Angeles, and when I moved down here I put him on the phone with Ron. After getting off the phone with Ron, my mechanic gave him a glowing recommendation based on what he perceived Ron’s ethics to be. On that I took the plunge. Ron has worked on my thermostat, as well as a few other minor issues. When his first stab at the thermostat issue didn’t hit the mark, he told me to bring it back in and he’d get to the bottom of it free of charge. He did just that. He also did a really in-​depth, comprehensive inspection of another car for me before I bought it. I couldn’t be happier with the service here.

What a fantastic group of people! I have had nothing but exceptional service from everyone at the front desk, Alexis and Danny to the owner himself, Ron. I usually avoid getting work done on my car at all because prices are outrageous, but Ron’s Auto is more than reasonable and affordable. I’ve had almost same day turn around with my issues and they explore all other concerns without pressuring me into unnecessary repairs, but provide knowledge and education with guidelines on what to look out for. I’m so happy I found this place and feel ensured that my car is being cared for by a team of experts. Thank you. You’re all a wonderful group of folks and I’m now nearly unphased when I have an auto issue, because I know they’ll take great care of me and my car.

Top of the line service and customer service. Ron has a deep knowledge of cars and is a pleasure to work with. They are cramped for space but make it work very well. I had an old 89 GMC van that needed service, they knew all about the model and had me ready by the end of the day. Highly recommend this spot.

Quick service, accurate diagnosis, and good prices! They fixed the stuff I asked them to (AC, trans gasket), and didn’t give me any grief or horror stories when I said I’d do some stuff myself (valve cover gasket).

I’ve been taking my car here for years, as has boyfriend and now our roommate. Ron’s auto clinic is a hidden gem! Ron is extremely knowledgeable, personable, and explains everything going on with your car in detail (what’s wrong, how to fix it, when it has to be done by, what happens if you don’t, etc). The staff, Danny and Alexis are friendly and welcoming, and you receive a call 1 – 2 weeks after your service to make sure your car is running smoothly.
Truly a San Diego establishment at its core, check it out!

I took my Honda in for a 100K service & felt I received excellent, honest service.
Oil change, new rear brakes, tire rotation, new cabin air filter, decarbon engine & fuel injector service, new serpentine drive belt and engine cooling system flush + new coolant. All for around $ 800. Brought her in at 8, picked her up at 430.
My engine has been purring ever since, & I appreciated the follow-​up call 1 week later.
Servicing your vehicle is NEVER going to be cheap, but it’s certainly less costly than the alternative…

Ron is an amazingly trustworthy, honest, and affordable mechanic. When I move back to San Diego this will be the only place I take my car for service.
Make sure you make an appointment as Ron has limited lot space so just dropping off is not typically an option.

I have lived within 2 blocks of Ron’s for over 10 years. I can’t believe it has taken me this long to take in my car. Granted I went only for an oil change, but they were super fast and wonderful to deal with. It’s kind of a strange location at the bottom of this little gully and seems a bit odd when you pull in this super steep driveway but they took care of it for me. I’ll be back when my 11 year old car inevitably needs engine work. Note my car was back into and needs body work, Ron’s does not do body work.
