El Sol Mexican

So first of all, this place is now called Mexico Lindo, not El Sol. I was really confused trying to find it when I was looking g for the El Sol restaurant name.
I ordered the enchiladas with rice and beans. Pretty good, decent mex food. Their salsa was to die for! I’ve had some weak salsa in SD that’s not all the way down to Chula Vista, but this one had actual spice and flavor to it! Loved it.
The service was okay, I felt like it was a very cold interaction until the end when we were paying and I tried to make small talk with him. The man is just shy and once we started talking about what region in Mexico their food was inspired from (Nayarit/​Sinaloa) he started chatting up.

By far our favorite Mexican restaurant in San Diego. Other than the tortillas everything is made from scratch! Down home family style service. Their home– made enchilada sauce is outrageous!

Wow. So delicious. I love supporting mom & pop shops, so if you want an authentic hole in the wall place, you have arrived! Their mole was marvelous, and so were their tacos!!! Loved their sopes as well!!! Didn’t care too much for their flan. Texture was weird, and it was DROWNING in syrup.

This quaint lil hole in the wall serves up some pretty good eats. Staff was accommodating as my friend and I moved from inside to outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. I ordered an huarache and rolled tacos. The huarache was pretty tasty. It had carnitas on top which I have to say was juicy and seasoned fairly well. I’d probably want a slight more crisp on it since there were lots of wet ingredients on it. The rolled tacos were a bit average for me. I had potato ones but the potato itself didn’t seem to be seasoned. Overall the portion size was big and the service was nice. I’d come back to try something else.

A small family run restaurant. Good food, good service. I love their Quesadilla with Asada, but really anything you order will be good. Because there is only 1 cook, be patient when you order because it will take some time for your food to be ready. I’ll definitely be back here though.

Finally a good Mexican restaurant ! The salsa is amazing. The food is better than any Mexican food place is SD. ONLY draw back is their hours. It seems they close too early. They would make bank if they stayed open when the bar (PEC’s) across the street closes every night. Too bad:(

Love the food and service here! Best posole! I now live in LA and look forward to when I visit SD just for this place.

The chimichanga I had was terrible. It was just chicken inside, no cheese or rice or salsa or anything! Just chicken, in a fried tortilla, with a side of sour cream.
The shrimp enchiladas had no cheese inside and had a pepper filling I’ve never encountered in enchiladas.
I only gave this place 2 stars because they have good chips and salsa. Seemingly the best thing there :/

Some of the best menudo i ever had the burritos great taste highly recommend small place a little long on the wait but very worth the wait!

9:30am and I was craving Ceviche. Was greeted and seated promptly, I ordered a freshly made Horchata and waited for my Ceviche as it was being freshly prepared. Great taste (not fishy) and was served in a bowl with the Tostadas on the side so they wouldn’t get soggy. Great service and great tasting Ceviche.

the El Sol burrito is amazing. It’s all I get. My favorite wet burrito in SD.

First of all, the name has changed to Mexico Lindo. This place is a tiny hole in the wall and the quality of food and service were great. They serve breakfast all day, so both of my kids ordered breakfast plates. The pancakes were delicious! I had a chile relleno burrito and my husband had the mega burrito with carnitas. Both were awesome and prepared with love! Mexican home style cooking at its best. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

Do not go here! Food took 30 minutes to come out. After the server reconfirmed the order with us 3 times and it was still wrong. Food is mediocre, no flavor, no heat from the salsa. Horrible!

This is the spot where my mom wanted to come for her birthday lunch. Okay sure mom… you’re the birthday girl. Whatever you want.
1^st off this place is now called Mexico Lindo. Miguel the owner is the real deal from Nayarit Mexico and is a an all around attentive and humble gentleman. He took very good care of our party of 8 and spared no detail on making us feel like we were in his home.
Food: Just like home… a Mexican home. Kids had the sopes (chicken or beef), wife had the chile rellenos and I had the menudo. OMFG! the menudo had me close to tears it was so good. He only had the menudo in red (there’s white too) but thats alright. I don’t discriminate (see my pic).
Price: The price of food is fair for the quality and service.
Other: The place is on the small side. Id say cozy. Our table still managed to have plenty of elbow room. Its probably better for parties of 4 – 6. For couples no problem. Parking is on the street.
Overall: I would absolutely come back for more menudo or even some pozole. If Mexican food is not what you want… from this Mexican restaurant, you can order a cheese burger and fries. Its also on the menu.

This restaurant is now called Mexico Lindo. This place sucks!!! Worse customer service ever! Crappy décor, hot and humid, and the food tastes gross. Stay away! I had an overall mistrust for this place, I’m surprised I ate the food and the only reason I did is because I had already sat down and ordered. But never again would I go here, not even if the food was free.

Was deeelish! Not from around here and saw on Unilocal how good it was… and it was! The beer was perfect. The burritos were huge and delish!

Out of all the gourmet hamburger joints popping up around San Diego, none even come close to achieving the greatness of the El Sol Presidential Burger. If you are a fan of the big three (beef patty, bun, and cheese) you need to march yourself down to this modest little joint to achieve hamburger bliss. The key with the El Sol burger is to enjoy it as you would a cheesesteak. Keep it simple. Even though lettuce, tomato and condiments are offered separately, enjoy a double cheeseburger with nothing but the meat, beef and cheeses for maximum bliss. There are little tweaks that make this burger the best (including some sort of special seasoning added to the ground beef patty) but boy do they work. This place should have a line all the way up University Avenue back to Hillcrest daily, but thankfully it doesn’t so I can get the best burger in San Diego on the pronto.

It was a good little place but a very odd location. Is there a reason all the restaurants I have eaten at in San Diego have little or no seating and several businesses tend to share restrooms? I’m used to my wide open spaces of Texas.
Two people with our party ordered the El Sol burrito, a couple ordered burgers, one vegetarian option, & a salmon burger… Pretty good food.

Order the Presidential burger.
No tacos, no fajitas, … the burger. At a mexican restaurant? Yes. Its what they’re famous for. And it’s legit.

This is a typical small mom and pops… the moment we walked in we were greeted by a nice lady who asked if it was to go or to eat it in… we told her it was to go and she offered us a seat while we looked at the menu. The place is pretty small with about 5 tables inside and maybe 3 or 4 outside. you park on the sreet which may be a little inconvenient since there’s almost never any parking around here.
So the menu was big. It had a lot of options with some great dishes.
I went for the adobada carne combo plate (I believe it was either $ 7.95 or $ 8.95) which came with 3 tortillas, rice, beans, and guacamole.
My bf ordered a fish burrito and together it was a little more than $ 15.
We took it home and saw she had also given us a few chips for free :)
My food was really good… it wasn’t the adobada I was used to, but the seasoning was still good. The chips were good as well, I ate them with the guacamole.
This is a pretty decent spot and I will definitey be goin back to taste some of their other dishes :)
