Great shop. Spacious layout. Garry doesn’t really have bikes lined up that are ready to buy (off the shelf), but he does have a lot to look at and is willing to build as you may require (or guide you as much as little as you need). It’s nice that he is flexible on components, wheels etc. — he won’t push you to one supplier or another — he’s more intereseted in finding out what is right for you (budget, riding style etc) so that you get the bike you really want. My first bike was a Trek, then when I really started to ride more I bought a Pinarello from the store’s previous owner Ron Lacey. I’m pleased to see that the new owner Garry is offering the same high level of service and has made many improvements to the store and buying experience. My wife is now buying a bike from Garry — he knows his stuff and is great to work with.

I started with Rose Canyon Cycles when the previous owner Ron Lacey put together a Pinarello Paris for me. It was the first bike of that type I had ever purchased and it was a big leap of faith. Turned out brilliantly. So when Ron retired and Garry purchased the shop there was that initial «will it be the same?» Figured I find out, so I brought the bike in for a tune up and to try a new seat. Well, I have to say Ron did his due diligence and sold to the right guy. Garry did a super job on the tune up and the seat. Great to work with and his prices are fair. Highly recommended.

Great shop with a lot of beautiful bikes to look at. Garry is easy going and loves to talk bikes, I’ve learned a lot just chatting and picking his brain for bike knowledge. He was very patient with me over many visits and test rides, I finally bought a Basso Diamanté which I love. I continue to go to RCC because I trust Garry and like his friendly and professional business approach.

A small shop with great atmosphere and value. Pricing has been very fair. Gary is a straight forward, no nonsense guy that is professional in his approach and a pleasure to deal with. Lots of information, no hype or pressure. Have and will continue to recommend him to all my cycling contacts. If you want something better than Performance or any large scale shop, you should check out Rose Canyon.

I am new to the area and needed an adjustment to my bicycle. I stopped by a couple of shops before I tried Rose Canyon Cycles and while professional they didn’t really talk to me. When I walked in Rose Canyon immediately Garry Jackson was helpful, cheerful and very experienced. He adjusted my bike and it has worked perfectly!!! Thank you Garry. I will definitely be back.

I had been looking for a Basso frame for years, and found it difficult to see them in person anywhere near San Francisco — as no one in the bay area carries them. After much research, I stumbled upon Rose Canyon Cycles in San Diego. I decided to fly to SD to make sure my Basso frame purchase would be worth it. Garry, the shop owner, was very helpful and gave me plenty of time to look around the shop with no sales pressure. There were plenty of Pinarello and Basso frames to entertain me. Garry answered all my technical and sales questions and was extremely patient and polite. After I decided to get the 2015 Basso Astra frame, he also helped me get a matching internet price on a Campy Chorus group (a great surprise). And he completed the great customer service experience by giving me a ride back to the San Diego airport to catch my flight.
I have years of experience with bike shops in the San Francisco bay area, and the level of customer service Garry provides is unique. It was well worth the flight. I would definitely recommend a visit to this bike shop, and do not be surprised if you walk away with one of his beautiful bikes or frames.

I must say, these guys came highly recommended and they didn’t fail to impress. Compared to other bike shops in San Diego and Orange County where I live, these guys go the extra mile to problem solve and fix the first time around, and educate the consumer. I had a shifting problem with my SRAM dérailleur which elicited the consult with Rose Canyon Cycles. They took me as a walk in and resolved my problem in less than 30 minutes. They also spent a lot of time educating me on shifting dynamics and wear and tear on chain with over tension.
They are courteous, very affordable and overall super nice people. In today’s world of big box bike shops who over charge and improperly diagnose, these guys are a rare gem of proper ethics. Go see them and they will treat you well!

I got my cervelo tuned up there before a race! He gave me tips on the bike & we are even going to see if we can fix the horrible cable job on it soon. (Not his cable job)

Ron and Rose Canyon Bikes are an absolute gem off the beaten path in San Diego. This is not a «bike shop» per se as he is mostly doing repairs and custom builds, Ron is a straight shooter and master craftsman who charges a fair price; rare in today’s profit first world.
The only disappointment for me has been that I bought a shiny new Park truing stand that I will probably never get to use because the wheels Ron built me won’t go out of true. Dang it ;)
If you need wheels built or pro level wrenching, Ron is your guy.

Wow– what an amazing shop. Everything about this place was above all expectations. Ron the owner was the most kind person and his knowledge was equal to his passion. I was getting my bike tuned up and replacing my tire, he took the time to show me and my wife all we needed to know about what he was doing and then took the time to just be a friend to us. I witnessed his customer service first hand with others when a man came in to ask a question and Ron helped him out free of charge and sent him on his way with a smile.
I can’t wait to come back and learn even more. I recommend this shop to anyone and suggest taking the time to visit.

Ron is the best! Over the years he has always displayed the great rides and is knowledgeable about all the good stuff. A great place to buy top end gear and get informed.

This is a great shop. The owner really knows his stuff and doesn’t try to sell you stuff you don’t need. Very high end bikes, but a down to earth attitude and fantastic service for a reasonable rate. Wish I could find a car mechanic like him!

I was on a ride recently with a buddy of mine when my buddy’s chain broke. Lucky for us, we were uphill of Ron’s shop and coasted all the way there. The guy that helped us, fixed my buddies chain for free! We were able to complete our ride after this generous act!
This man has excellent karma and I love the little dog in the shop too, who was «supervising»! Thank you Rose Canyon Cycles for your generosity! I will be using them in the future for tune ups and parts and recommending to my friends that like to ride.

Again I cannot recommend Ron enough! His down-​to-​earth attitude, mechanical aptitude and friendly demeanor cannot be beaten. Prices are fair and he doesn’t make you feel like a number like other bike shops.

There are not enough superlatives to describe how much I like Rose Canyon Cycles and its owner, Ron Lacey. I recently returned from a military overseas assignment, was looking for a local shop (I’m a native who’s been riding these roads since the early 70’s) with a long history in the area (boy, does Ron have that), and with a personal approach to selling high end cycling equipment without exuding that «we know more than you do» attitude (which the other «Hi End» has in abundance). Ron worked with me for over three months while I was still overseas to find the exact bike that I wanted at a great price and supports me whenever I have a question or concern (which is sometimes just a quick question to tap into his vast knowledge). He’s always there and no one does it better.

Ron is the man! A knowledgeable wrench and bike junkie that does business with some integrity.
I have a year old road bike and I ride it a bit like a mountain bike in that I come off the curbs sometimes and I dont really consider my weight and the effect it has on my wheels. So I need the rear wheel trued. I also have some substantial miles on it in the year I have had it so I was wondering about having a full dis-​assembly and tune. Ron looked over the bike and actually said to wait until next spring after I have thrashed it some more to have that service done. I am aware that there are still a lot of honest people that run businesses but I appreciate when I get it still. I enjoyed a good chat about the technical details of my frame and talked wheels and so on while he trued up my wheel and gave the steed a good once over before claiming her fit to ride. Just $ 20 for the true. Lovely!
I actually live near Adams Avenue bike shop and while I think they have done a good job the couple of times I have brought my bike in, they are quick to charge for small things and they wanted to give me this service now which would have been money out of the pocket rather than getting a little more out of what I have and getting the business a little later. I’m not picking on them just trying to make the point of the little thing that make customers loyal ones. Give a little now. Get a more later.
I’m going to ride my bike by Rose Canyon again today to try some wheel sets that Ron suggested. I’m a little less sad to turn over $ 1500 to Ron for a good set of wheels he will build and stand by!

As a poor graduate student, it is always refreshing to find someone who understands your situation and does what he can to help you out. Ron has gone above and beyond to get my bike running in top shape at the absolute minimum cost for me over the last two years and I can’t thank him enough. While I was preparing for my half iron man this year I starting having trouble with my bike and Ron was able to keep it running smoothly for me until the race was done.
Ron has many great clients who have wheels built, bikes built, and order high end equipment. I am definitely not one of those people, but Ron still treats me like a top customer.
I would recommend Ron to ANYONE who needs ANYTHING done to their bike.
