They get one star knocked off because I still can’t wrap my head around putting fish inside a taco. They are not meant to be. I always order chicken tacos or anything but a fish taco. The food is very good. The atmosphere is kinda loud and seating is not that great. But they are quick and to have a fast lunch for under $ 10 is a great deal. Try them out.

I stopped in this Rubio’s to try their new Chimichurri Salmon in the form of a burrito made from wild Alaska Coho Salmon that is responsibly fished. The burrito was $ 9 and some change and came with a health portion of corn tortilla chips and of course endless trips to their salsa bar. They salmon burrito came very well and tightly wrapped on a warm toasted flour tortilla, they way if should. They salmon was accompanied by Mexican rice, black beans, salsa fresca, fresno chiles, fire roasted corn, and a white sauce and the chimichurri sauce. I liked all the ingredients that came in the burrito with the salmon. They all had good flavor and were seasoned well. However, although I thought it tasted good, the Coho salmon was a little over cooked. It was definitely well done, and I am not certain whether it was purpose done given industry standards for a chain such as Rubios or it was simply overdone. I on the other hand, prefer my salmon at a good medium temp with it slightly underdone. The side of sea salted tortilla chips were great and were good eating with the fresh salsas from the S. bar. All the salsas were filled to the rim and had a fresh quality taste to them. I especially liked the green salsa because it was vibrant in color and tasted great. I added it to the burrito too because I thought it actually had a stronger flavor than the chimichurri that came with the burrito. Service was very good at the counter, but I did not receive that traditional, «hi! welcome to Rubios» welcome. At any rate, the I was pleased with the friendliness of the staff and they way they kept the place clean.

I had a bad service customer from the person who took my order name Isamar that she should not be manager. I wanted to change my order and she answered me with a bad attitude. I have been working in restaurants industry for more than 15 years. She did not know how to do a good customer service. I spoke with Beto to let me changed my order becuase isamar gave me a not good welcome feeling. I did pay the difference of pricing items because it is that way we support our community. I never had had this kind of experience before. If i will back i will request some else to take care of my order.

No healthmex burrito anymore & skimpy on the chicken now… RUBIOSISSKIMPING!!! This used to be my go to healthy fast food. Now I’ll have to find another or plan more… You’re losing me Rubios! On the plus side, the workers were nice. It’s the company that’s now sucking.

Okay, so Rubio’s totally made San Diego for me when I first got here. I went there one night cause I had just moved here from Hawaii and I wanted a Burrito, which you don’t really have access to genuine burritos in the Aloha State, and I found the shrimp and bacon burrito here of my dreams. I have eaten probably at least 8 to 10 of these in the 3 months I have lived here, yes, I know, it’s a touch sad. Now, this burrito normally comes with jalapenos, but since I do not like jalapenos I always get it sans jalapenos, but I usually get their pinto beans which are decent and the chips and drink deal. The employees are invariably pleasant and pretty efficient. I like the space, and this is a good location.

I love this rubios location — this review may be a little biased because I live across the street: p But for real, it’s spacious and always clean– line can run long during rush hour but the customer service is great and they are quick to bring out the food. I’ve done take out a couple of times as well as sat in and had great experience each time. I love the salsa bar and the habanero sauce bottle on the side definitely does the job.

Not the swankiest of places, but the food is decent and convenient. I tend to get the Grilled Grande Bowl(no longer on the menu, but still available), Burrito Especial, or Original Fish Tacos(deep fried is not my norm). Rubio’s has a good beer selection and staff is usually pretty friendly. Food doesn’t take long to prepare either, so you can be in/out pretty quickly if you wish.

Excellent customer service here. The staff is super professional and friendly. They brought the wrong bowl the first time and immediately corrected it and brought me a free bag of chips. I came around noon when they were very busy for lunch and even with the mistake my food came very fast. Fair warning the mild salsa is veryy mild so get something else if you want more flavor. I love this place. Doesn’t feel like fast food.

You know, for a «fast food» type place, Rubio’s is actually really good. I always get the chicken bowl or their new mahi mahi bowl. It’s a hefty portion of rice, black beans, tomato, guac, lettuce, and sauce. The sauce is so delicious and perfectly compliments the other fresh-seeming ingredients. The employees are always really nice, too. Sign up for their club/email list and you get a coupon for a free entrée on your birthday!

Whenever Chipotle is too busy, I always stop in here instead. Its a bummer that they changed the recipe for the burrito especial, but if you ask them to make it the«classic» way, they will, which is awesome. I never have to wait very long for my food here and the salsa bar is amazing!

My favorite Rubio’s!!! Always friendly, gets the order right about 99% of the time. Remodel looks great! Everyone greets you when you walk in. They service tables. The sauce section is almost always well kept and I’ve never seen them out of any type of drink. Soda or beer.

Jess & I both worked hard today, & were craving the same thing lol. We had a credit for some food and decided to use it tonight at Rubio’s. Manuel is the nicest, most perfect person to be the Manager of this store. He should be for the great customer service ever, so hugs to Manuel. It had been some time since we’d spoken about the mishap, so I wasn’t sure if he’d remember me. He did. That is excellent customer service. The other thing I really love about Rubios is that they offer a more healthier option than other Mexican places. For example they use pinto beans for their re-fried beans, not black beans, only Rubio’s doesn’t fry their pinto beans. Noep. So they taste less heavy on the calories(and they are). I also love how there is a combination of a light and a dark cheese on my chicken nachos along with the pinto beans, and then complemented with fresh cilantro and pico de gallo. I ask for the sour cream on the side so I don’t overeat. Did you know running ages you faster than anything else? It does. Well that –and stress. I digress. Sorry. Back to Rubio’s. Rubios I’m going to have some of your yummy shrimp next time. Be ready for me. I’d like to have the Shrimp Especial Nachos or maybe a Shrimp Especial Quesadilla. Doesn’t that just send you into a frenzy? Lol… I also can’t wait for the seasonal langoustines. Wow! And what WAS that salad that guy was eating? It looked delicious, was in a huge bowl, and all I noticed was it was overflowing with shrimp. Omg, can’t wait to come back! 5 Stars! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ When we walked in here tonight, we pretty much knew what we wanted. A yummy serving of chicken nachos. But we noticed some new items on the menu. But it was funny. The people behind us also were trying to decide what they wanted, so I turned around and asked if anyone wanted to go ahead of us, and a man said, «Oh yeah, I do! It’s Taco Tuesday!» We all laughed and motioned for him to go ahead of us. So we continued to study the tacos, and saw they had 2 different types, 1 in beer batter. We had our minds made up and instead, ordered chicken nachos, as we had planned!!! Hahaha! I love the simplicity and ease of eating nachos, with its ooey gooey cheese, re fried beans, pico de gallo, sour cream(hold the quac)…and crunchy crispy chips all underneath. I love pulling out a piece, it’s finger food after all, and the trick is each element must be on each bite ;) yummy! It was crowded for a Tuesday, but our order came out pretty fast. Nice large pieces of white meat chicken with a great char on them were the star for me. Wait staff were efficient, the kitchen was cookin’, patrons were jovial, and the food was great. Great location. The staff has everything down pat and delivers hot and delicious meals fast. Going to have to return for Taco Tuesday’s! They looked delicious!

It was my first time at Rubio’s, so I didn’t know what to expect. The design looked like a Taco Bell and Pollo Tropical combined. I was expecting mediocre fast Mexican food, but I was wrong. I ordered the Fish Taco and Fish Taco Especial plate and was blown away. First thing I noticed were the corn tortilla instead of flour, which was already a plus. Tacos should not be on a flour tortilla in my opinion. The fish was nice and juicy and the salsa selection was pretty tasty. Some of the salsas were bland, but I tried them all so I could stick to the one I liked. Their hot sauce though … I could put that on anything. It was that good. Makes me rethink fast food quality. Much different from Florida fast foods

Went by for first time after living in the area for seven years. Must say it was pretty kept up an service was good. The manager was pretty active in keeping things in order(live mgrs that work). However, you knew that was coming. The Tuesday fish tacos … Fresh BUT Fish was over cooked, they were mushy. I will try it again. 9÷20÷15. Tried again. Awesome! Please let me know if this review was useful, funny or cool. Thank You so much

Regular spot on taco Tuesday here with 1.50 fish taco’s. Even though they miss out something on my order sometimes, they always make it up by adding the sides on for free whenever they forget due to the madness of taco Tuesday. Beer battered taco’s are amazing though.

So yumm! Best part, the calories are listed on the menu! I think this has become our new Friday dinner on the go spot! I’m hooked on the salads and my girlfriend is hooked on the unbreaded fish tacos and street tacos! Service, fantastic! Bathroom, single person, eh.

Spotless dining area and very delish /super fresh fish tacos — not bad for a place that started as a Taco love Shack in Mission Bay and now is a big arse company with about 200 restaurants and over 150 million Tacos fed to folks in the USA and then some. It’s good stuff — the two gentlemen that took me there are from Mexico City & Tijuana and they definitely are rated as Taco subject-matter-experts. We got a big bunch of «Original Fish Tacos» — yum Alaskan whitefish made with great beer batter, in a tasty tortilla with the A-Z of other ingredients. Good and Plenty and not at all expensive. If in Mission Valley on a lazy weekend errand day, this is a good place for a quick and very satisfying bite.
