Salvage salon is a vintage inspired Davines hair salon located in the heart of North Park, San Diego. We are a group of artists who specialize in staying up to date on the latest hair trends and needs of our clients. Every stylist we have hired onto our staff is passionate and fired up about making clients happy and giving them the exact service that is right for their lifestyle.

History

Established in 2009.

In 2009, Salvage started as a personal studio near downtown Phoenix for us to service our clients at. Shortly after, we decided to bring along some of our favorite stylists to come join us in our space and officially make it a salon. Those who know the space know how special it was. It was private, it was hidden, it was cozy, it was exclusive, but above all else it was full of love. There will always be a special place in the heart for those who were a part of it. It is because of the love and passion we have for people and their hair that we wanted to bring Salvage here to San Diego, the city we are so humbled to be a part of. Fast forward to November 2014… We decided that after five great years in Phoenix it was time to make this dream a reality. Though bittersweet, we closed our doors in Phoenix to open them in lovely North Park, San Diego. Here we are now, and we can’t wait to write the rest of the story with you.

Hello. We are Mike and Jessica Anderson, the proud owners of Salvage Salon. We met in hair school thirteen years ago, fell in love, have made three daughters ages six and under (with a fourth on her way), and have been in the industry together ever since! We opened Salvage Salon in Phoenix, AZ five years ago, but after personally moving here to North Park two years ago, we decided that 2014 was the right time to relocate Salvage here as well. With a loyal clientele in AZ, we do travel back to service our clients on a monthly basis. That said, we are absolutely at home here in San Diego, and couldn’t dream of a better city to be a part of! We are passionate about creating a space for our clients that feels less like a typical salon, and more like a home. We love people, we love making you look beautiful, and most of all we care that you feel beautiful. Guys, you too. Hair is the accessory that you wear everyday, and we are committed to making you look your best.

This place is amazing! I just got my hair done again by Ashley Atkinson. I have been a loyal client of hers for over a year and she kills it every time. I decided to finally leave a review because I’m past due, she deserves it and you are crazy if you don’t go to her.
In the past I was always worried about getting my hair done, never sure how it would turn out. Even when I found a great stylist, I wasn’t always happy with the outcome. Either they didn’t listen to what I want, got too comfortable or just wanted to do what they though was right– but it got to the point where I was scared to get my hair done instead of excited. And I’m not picky, I just want to like the outcome and have it the way I want.
Well with Ashley, I can relax, and I am soooo confident in her skills. She makes me and my hair beautiful Every. Single. Time. Sometimes I just leave it up to her, or sometimes I go in with a Pinterest inspo board of what I want, but she always nails it.
If you want to try someone new, or stop worrying if you will like your hair, see Ashley and hang out at the cutest salon in town! Did I mention I drive from Oceanside just to see her? She’s that good! Five stars all day every day!

Had a wonderful experience at Salvage Salon with Priscilla! The price for color was very reasonable.
The salon itself is clean and well maintained.
I was a bit disappointed at how expensive haircuts cost ($ 50) and that there’s no reduction in price if you’re getting a color too. My only suggestion would be to discount haircuts if a customer is getting color treatment.
Would return here in the future!

Nikki is the best thing that has happened to me in quite some time. She’s quick yet thorough. I will be going back to her regularly. I’m apprehensive on recommending het, because I don’t need her booked up and to busy for me :-)

Made an appointment last minute on a Saturday morning, and luckily, Nikki, answered! She was able to squeeze me in for a haircut and color. Such a cute little shop on a cute little street in North Park. It was a pleasant experience from start to finish. Nikki new exactly how I expected my hair to be and the end result was exactly what I wanted! Oh, and they offer up beer or wine!

My first time at Salvage Salon. I highly recommend Priscilla. She totally nailed it! I never left a salon so happy. Actually everyone leaving the salon had great style. You will not regret going here. Everybody is nice and the salon is super cute! Definitely coming back.

I called on a Friday morning to ask about immediately available appointments/​walk-​ins. They texted me back in less than 10 minutes with an appointment within the hour for a simple hair-​cut.
Location has street parking. I didn’t want to deal with the busy parking so I parked in the residential neighborhood that was marked 2 hour parking and walked a block over to the salon.
Upon arrival, the salon is absolutely charming and the staff was friendly and offered refreshments.
I got my hair cut by Jessica, the owner of Salvage Salon. She was great with listening to my wants and offered suggestions. Perfectly executed the layers I wanted to add for volume and shape for my wavy hair. Overall it took about an hour in and out the door.
Price was $ 65(not including tip) for haircut with shampoo and styling air-​dried with curling product (she offered a blow-​dry but I wanted my natural curls to show with the cut). Kind of pricey but you definitely get what you pay for! This is my new splurge salon so I will just be back periodically when I need a cut for a special occasion or want to spoil myself.

Kristina has been doing my hair for years and has always been amazing. She makes suggestions when I want to try something new and her cut and color are always on point. It’s very easy to schedule with her online and when I need to reschedule she has always been accommodating. The salon is super cute and cozy… It’s like going to your girlfriends place to hangout. I highly recommend Kristina! She’s professional, courteous and great at her craft!

Loved this place! I’m always scared to go short because I have a round head and have had some disastrous short cuts. But, with a new baby, I just couldn’t keep up with the long hair.
A few of my friends highly recommended Shvonne, and I’m so glad I listened! She took the time to listen to my concerns and made sure I was comfortable with what we were doing, and I LOVE my new cut! I’m so glad to have finally found a stylist I can trust with my hair.
On another note, the salon itself is adorable. I love the upcycling idea and the other stylists that were there were all super nice. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for a new salon!

I realize now that I’ve never REALLY loved my hair. And I’ve never looked forward to getting my hair done… until now! Shvonne Austin changed my entire perspective on my hair. On my first visit, she did an analysis of my haircut and explained to me what would make my hair better. She’s honest, which is refreshing, but also wouldn’t mean much if she didn’t deliver amazing results, which she 100% did. I left loving my haircut and fully understanding why she suggested wanting to cut off 4 inches.
Since my initial visit, she’s fixed my color. She made it look so natural and she made it look expensive. A month later, I knew I wanted to go even shorter. I wanted a fresh, new style and she gave me a stunning long bob.
What else is there to say? Shvonne is just a serious joy to be around, and she’s ridiculously talented. What a relief to know that I’ll never again have an awkward, nervous feeling walking into and leaving a salon. Salvage is welcoming and adorable, and most importantly, cares to hire welcoming and adorable stylists.

Let me start by saying I am a broke-​ass graduate student (am I allowed to curse on here?), so getting GOOD hair care is always a bit of struggle for me. I also don’t have the easiest hair to work with… super coarse, thick and curly. I found SHVONNE through her EPIC deal on Groupon and was able to make an appointment via e-​mail for the following week!
The Salon — Shut the front door. It’s freaking adorable.
The Artist — What a breath of fresh air! A lovely soul, she not only kills it with her obvious confidence in her abilities, but can majorly deliver! Weeks later and I am still in love with my hair and genuinely look forward to my next cut!
Also — Hope you killed it on that test!

Super friendly, beautiful salon with great stylists and fair prices. Owner Jessica cut my son, daughter and mom’s hair all within one month and everyone was delighted with their different cuts and color!
I’ve sent 3 friends there since. It’s a fun place to enjoy a cut (and color) and you can tell everyone really enjoys working there. It took me 3 years to find a place I love since moving here from Phoenix. Great to have such an awesome salon in my neighborhood!

I am so happy I found Shvonne through Groupon!!! Finally found my hairdresser I am sticking with! She does an amazing job on my blonde hair! It’s hard to find someone that can please you with blonde highlights and touch ups. Her hair cuts rock too. You can’t go wrong with Shvonne. ANDDD her prices are extremely affordable, making it easy to come back when ever you want. LOVE this salon! I always see Priscilla, who does an amazing job at hair painting, balyage highlights and haircuts. With hair painting, I can wait so much longer in between appointments and it looks so natural!
The salon is really cute and they serve wine, coffee and water while you get your hair down. Priscilla is so friendly and she always steers me in the right direction for my color and what will look best for my skin tone.
I love the location of the salon since it is within walking distance of all the shops and restaurants/​bars in North Park. The only downside is the street parking!

Came here because I found a groupon with Shvonne. I must say… Wow! She did a great job at listening and suggesting what she thought we should do with my hair.
I have baby fine hair and she made me feel like a brand new woman after my haircut! Talk about volume! She’s got a great personality and definitely listens to your needs. She took the time to style it how I wanted (big and beach wavey) and even taught me some great techniques that I should be using. Great experience!
Great location in north park, the products they use are also awesome and smell soooooooo yummy. I had to buy some (or a bunch). Do it. You won’t regret! I know I’ll definitely be back.

Upon walking in I was greeted with a smile and felt like I had walked into the Anthrpologie of salons, super cute and kitchy feel. Lots of drinks for you to enjoy as well. I also had the chance to speak with the owner of the salon at the end of my cut, she’s this badass, beautiful lady that rocks a shaved head. She is very kind, and seems she has customer service at her forefront.
Let’s talk about Shvonne, and her wonder women skills with hair. I got my hair chopped by her and If I could rate 10 stars I would. Initially I had found her through Groupon, did a little research on the salon and checked out her work. I thought I’d give it a go and oh my god, I was and am blown away. When it came to vocalizing what I had in mind for my haircut, she executed exactly what I wanted, without any difficulty. She is able to communicate very well, and always asks if she should cut off less or more so you won’t be shocked because we’ve all been there. You will get what you want with your hair if book this gal.
And not only that, she has a beautiful and genuine personality. She is so easy to warm up to and made me feel right at home. I feel, it’s not always that you’re able to sit in a chair with someone for a hour and feel comfortable. Our conversation was just a wonderful as the haircut.
You would be doing yourself a favor booking an appointment with her. Expect the best!

Salvage Salon is the place to get your hair needs. The place gives you a nice vintage vibe with their lovely décor. The staff is friendly and they offer you a drink right when you walk in for your appointment.
SERVICE: I wanted my roots to blend with the ombré I have going on with my hair at the time and Sila did a phenomenal job blending the colors together. She took the time to look at the pictures I have provided for reference to determine a good color. She’s an amazing color expert and I felt like I could really trust her. I was informed about their olapex service for bleaching hair and I’m glad I went with it because it made my blonde a lot healthier and fuller looking. She is also fun to talk to and very sweet. This will be my go to salon for now on.
PARKING: There are no private lot parking for Salvage Salon but you can park on the street. It’s really not that bad depending on the time you schedule your hair appointment.
Overall, I love this salon and would recommend Sila for anyone who wants their hair colored and need expert advice. Not only is their salon very elegant and trendy, but their staff is very professional and great!
