San Diego Gas and Carwash – Carmel Valley Shell

I will not returning for sure. I was hoping to get a quick car wash. Just paid for the basics. It was not busy at all, but it still took 30 minutes. The guy working on my car was moving like a snail. As if he were working on his own car on a Sunday afternoon with nothing else to do. Many other people were complaining as well. If you go here, expect to wait a long time, even for a regular car wash.

The water they use here permeates your car with a foul odor… lasted several days. I cannot recommend even though they have a nice store… but avoid the «wash»!

Waste of money! I was heading home from visiting family and thought I’d get my car washed before I hit the road on a beautiful day, well this place was expensive, didnt clean my wheels and basically let my car air dry, leaving spots all over it. Door jambs were still full of dirt and water. They stood around waiting for a tip as I came up to my car and all I did was look at all the dirt still in the kick panel and got in and left. Do your job and I am more than happy to tip you. Stand around and do nothing gets you the same thing outta me.

The café inside has great sandwiches and salads!

Decent and convenient place to oil change and car wash. Can get propane tank filed here for your barbecue. Nail salon close by along with Starbucks.

Whoever the lady with glasses was who was working right now at 11:12 pm… Just cause you work at a gas station doesn’t mean you have to be evil and all customer service goes out the window. Seriously needs an attitude check

The car smells so bad after washing that I will not use them anymore, even though the Shell station is most convenient.

Went with a full detail for $ 200. Car was clean and looked nice, but no where near worth $ 200. I had to point out smudges they didn’t get out that they promised they would when they sold me. There was armoral/​product left in cracks of the car. There was dirt still in some corners. All in all, worth $ 75, no where near worth $ 200.
On top of that, I went late in the day so the job was rushed and the manager had already left so I could complain. I wish they would have told me to come back at a better time.
Go to a more reputable car wash, this one is sub par.

Swiss Army Knife of Gas Stations.
There’s a lot going on here at this gas center besides the TVs on top of the fuel pumps.
If you work in the area you’ve been this shell probably more than once. You’ll also know that this Shell’s pump stations are not very efficient for a quick in-​n-​out fill up. Their gas stalls are only two pumps deep and often people fuel up, then order food inside while still parked in the station. I’d never do that, but it seems to be done here.
— The Cheapest Shell in the area.
— I believe this is the official gas station for the local postal office. You’ll see their trucks here during lunchtime.
— A Nail Salon? Really?

Brought my brand new car for hand washing and it was decent although they immediately try to upsell. Also completely skipped my trunk which was full of sand.
Just went back the other day and once I got home I noticed what a horrible job they did. I paid $ 30 and came home with a dirty car. Called to speak to manager who was busy. I left word that before I went to Unilocal I would give them the opportunity to remedy. No one called me back after I left 2 messages. So here are the pictures of my newly washed car…

Correction: It wasn’t Mo, but another employee who told me this. I did speak to the manager Mo and he profusely apologized and offered me a discount on my oil service for this mistake. I’ll give them a try now and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Rip off. They told me I needed $ 80 synthetic oil on my car and my dealership said that is bogus.

I’ve lived in this area for over 20 years and although I’ve gotten gas here countless times, I’ve never used the car wash. Today as I was using my card to pay at the pump, it asked if I wanted a car wash. It just so happened that my car was in dire need of a cleaning so I decided to use the convenience of paying at the pump and add the car wash to my fill-​up. A mistake I won’t repeat!
After I paid at the pump and took my car up to the car wash entrance, a man greeted me and asked why kind of car wash I wanted. I showed him my receipt that I had paid for the wash and he took my keys but told me I had to go inside. I thought this was odd since I’ve already paid for the wash but the person inside the store said he had to give me a claim ticket. I explained that I had already paid for the wash at the pump when I purchased my gas but he said that didn’t matter, that I needed to show it to him first and then he would give me the claim ticket.
I waited about 15 minutes and someone called out my car was ready. However, as I approached my car, it was clear there were large spots of road grime still on the bumper that hadn’t been cleaned. I pointed it out to the person who had done the cleaning and he looked at me with a look as if to say «what do you want me to do about it?» He made a simple attempt to clean off the area I pointed out to him and some of it was coming off but he stopped. I realized this was a waste of time and just took my keys and reluctantly gave a tip.
I live no more than half a mile away and when I got home I noticed what a horrible job they had done. The interior of my car had barely been touched. I purchased the «Silver Service» wash which although doesn’t include a detail of the inside of the car, but there were some clear spots on the dash panels that weren’t touched. When I got home it took nothing more than a moist towel to wipe them off. It was obvious they had wiped down the light dust on the top of the dash but couldn’t be bothered with anything that took more effort than a simple wipe. The exterior had quite a bit of water still on it that I had to wipe before they turned into sun spots.
This is probably the worst place I have ever been to for a car wash. I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 star because technically the car was cleaner than when I brought it in. But the fact is they did a far less than average job of cleaning the car. Water drops all over the car, road grime on the bumpers that took nothing more than from me than a little multipurpose cleaner and a paper towel at home to remove. Same with the spots on the inside dash of the car. I’m sure the owner will reply saying I purchased the «Sliver» option which doesn’t include a interior detail and to him I will just say, save the comments. Any other place would have done a minor wipe down and removed those spots on the dash.
Another horribly thing is the fact they force you into their store to try and get you to buy more. I paid for the wash at the pump. There is NO reason for me to go into the store to get some BS claim ticket. As I write this I really feel like dropping the rating to 1 star (or zero if they offered it). What’s the point of paying at the pump if I still have to go inside?!? There is absolutely no convenience by paying at the pump when I still have to go inside. Very sleazy tactic to try and get someone to spend more by forcing them to come inside. I’ve paid for car washes at the pump before and never before had to go into the store to get a claim ticket when it’s all printed right on the receipt. And most places where you pay at the pump offer a discount on your gas fill-​up but not this place.
For those looking for a place to get your car washed properly, there is a good car wash less than a mile away at the Del Mar Highlands center. I’ve been going there for years and I should have gone back there. They always do an exceptional job cleaning your car. If you need your car cleaned, avoid this place and just drive up the road where they do a great job.

I came here to fill up my tank and buy a few red bulls.
The area overall is a little tight since there’s a busy car wash on site.
It’s still a good location just off Carmel Creek Rd and the 56 freeway.

Got a car wash this morning. There was an unpleasant smell coming from the car wash area. I kept saying it smelled like dog urine, and my boyfriend told me it was probably the water. I should have taken that comment into more consideration. There was still dirt all over my car when the wash was finished. What was worse is that my car smelled so foul, I needed to have my car washed again at a different car wash.

I would not trust these people. I pulled up and instead asking me what I wanted done to my car he told me what they were going to do FOR 70 $$$
I said no thank you~! I just wanted the cheapest wash available (according to the signs, and what I expected to pay was 10.99 $)
He said the cheapest was 15 $ so I just said «no thank you I thought it was 10.99 $» and drove away…
Won’t be back no thank you!

This is my go to for car washes, and not only because they are close to my house.
Everytime I go there– no matter what level of wash I choose– my car comes out the cleanest I’ve ever seen it.
I also love how kind they are. If I’m ever unsatisfied with something I feel comfortable telling them and they instantly fix it.
One time I got an oil change with the free wash– and they even let me get the wash at a later date.
I subtracted a star because during the oil change on my truck they forgot to put something back on therefore it dragged and cracked while driving. BUT they did say they will pay for the damages which is truly appreciated. Just a bit of an inconvenience

Paid for the Silver package car wash and had my car retuned to me with a hood grill piece missing. I then had to drive to the nearest Mini dealership, purchase the part and come back to be reimbursed for the purchase. Greg Karam was more than helpful with my situation, he even gave me a card for a free wash. Greg quickly found someone to attach the new part that had been broken off and I was on my way. Total I was dealing with this for about 2 hours and was actually unimpressed by the car wash. My brother had been and spent more for a full wash and detail and had warned me that he wasn’t impressed but due to the convenience of how close the Shell is to my house. I wanted to give it a chance. Needless to say I will not be back for a wash.

Castrol Lube
Great customer service and automotive service from Mo Gidey and His crew of Technicians. Customer service is all of their number 1 priority. Great pricing and quick service (under 20 mins for an oil change and checking all fluids and topping them off) and currently a free car wash is offered with all oil changes (as of this date). I have a very good feeling about Mo’s sense of customer service in making every customer happy is very important to Him. I am a repeat customer and will continue to take my car there for great service.

I’ve been to this car wash several times and have always been pleased with the results. I usually go for the silver or gold wash, which I believe are $ 24 and $ 27 respectively. They clean the outside and the inside and my car is always sparkling, literally, when they’re finished. My dashboard was so clean and shiny that I was almost blinded by the sunlight blazing off of it on the drive home.
I own a pug who is spoiled rotten and constantly going for rides with me. In case you aren’t aware, pugs are notorious for shedding and my car is typically covered in a coat of pug hair. The car wash includes a vacuuming but I’d have to pay for a detailing to get all the pug hair out (which would cost about twice as much) and I don’t see the point in that considering that she’ll just add more pug hair to car within a couple of days. I can’t fault the car wash for that, however, as I know how difficult it can be to remove the hair and I’m happy to at least have some of it vacuumed and the rest of my car to be spotless.
The car wash only takes about 30 minutes and there’s a seating area outside to enjoy the beautiful San Diego weather. There’s also a restaurant indoors that I’ve never tried but have heard good things about.

I’m not sure about this car wash. I always seem to leave with the impression their operation is a little on the sketchy side.
My wife tells me not to go here, but it is really convenient and I like the proximity to Starbucks, Chipotle and Cedar Grill. Plus the receipt gives $ 5 off the next detail or $ 3 off the next wash.
This time I went in for a regular Silver Wash, but I let the supervisor with the clipboard upsell me to the hand wax & detail. He started at $ 70 (nobody pays that) and went down to $ 49.99. Fine, I’ll take it. When I go to pay I try to use my coupon for $ 5 off my next detail, but they call the clipboard boss over and he tells me I can’t combine promotional offers. I didn’t realize our negotiation was a promotional offer — it wasn’t a coupon, it wasn’t advertised and he never made such an exclusion at the time. Dude also swore up and down it would only take 30 minutes. It took 55 minutes. I feel like he would have told me whatever he thought I wanted to hear to get me to bite. I’m also unsure whether I really got my money’s worth — I kept tabs on my car and didn’t actually see any wax being applied.
The kids play area isn’t bad and my daughter enjoys it, but it has seen finer days. The bright colors aren’t so bright anymore, the «ball pit» area is blocked off by a crappy looking cardboard cap, and the balls have long since been removed. If you’re going to have a kid play structure, it needs to be kept in better repair. I’m just sayin.
