After my last Unilocal review I was contacted by David and promised a new charger… Still waiting for a call back. This place not only lacks in costumer satisfaction but David Pence has no integrity. He tells you what you wanna hear. Great way to remedy your mistake David.

Doesn’t return calls. I have called multiple times and left a message on their voicemail about my issue, and no one will call me back. If you can’t help me (which your websites states that it can) than at least call me back and tell me.

I cracked the screen on my cell phone and the touch screen went out, I had no way of getting my pictures or any of my data. I tried calling everywhere and San Diego PC Help was the only one that could help. I just picked up my phone and USB flash drive with all my pictures, so happy. Thank You

Three words: DON’T GO THERE. They charged me $ 109.00 for no productive work done and lost my power supply without giving me an excuse.
I sent out my PC (which failed to start properly due to an improper USB removal) to their place on June 22, and they told me it took at least one week for the start-​up and data recovery. I told them I will be out of SD until July 5^th and they promised it would be okay then. I checked in my laptop, a Dell XPS 13′ together with the power supply, and paid $ 109 for the «diagnosis.» They promised that they will call me when I’m back.
So, that’s what happened afterwards:
1. When I was back in town no one gave me a message. I called them several times and the signal was extremely weak, so I decided to visit their office in person last week (it’s 7.6 already). The receptionist said that they haven’t heard from the technician who worked at home — and it seemed i. He called the technician in the office and let me know that the work would be done over the weekend.
2. I called them again on Monday and Tuesday. The technician replied that they need to do a data backup and asked me to bring an extra hard drive to store the files. I said I could only come after work and he agreed. When I arrived with the hard drive in the office that evening, however, the technician was not here, neither was my laptop. The guy at the office again told me to go over the technician’s home and get the job done there the next day.
3. Today I went to the technician’s house with my hard drive. SURPRISINGLY, He told me the laptop was okay — and NO DATA BACKUP IS NEEDED AT THE MOMENT — AND I ONLY NEED TO GET MY LAPTOP BACK IN THE OFFICE ON MIRAMAR. I was totally confused because the message was completely different as what I heard last night. No one told me that the job is already done!
4. Finally, exhausted and with a head of noises, I got my PC back at 8pm. But there was NO POWER SUPPLY. They explained that it did not check in with the CHARGER. I REMEMBERED EXTREMELY CLEAR THAT I CHECKED IN WITH THE POWER SUPPLY BECAUSE IT WAS ASSUMED TO BE TIME-CONSUMING…how could they even get the job done without a charger? Well, the (other) receptionist refused that they ever received one. There was no crheck-​boxes on my receipt, so of course, I have no proof. But the fact is they lost my charger and when they give my PC back, I cannot ever start it to check if it is really fine.
5. The technician promised me to call me back if he found the charger. I don’t expect such miracles, nevertheless. Already ordered a new one on Amazon.
6. Today, I received my power from Amazon and started my PC. Finally I found they didn’t do anything with my PC — except for taking my money away.
In total, this place was a huge disappointment. I went there for the high scores on Unilocal,but the service is totally worthless — I could buy a new laptop if saved the money, time and oil spent on the road. In fact, I have never been to such a place where its reputation and actual quality of service differs so much. What’s wrong with you Unilocal?Or am I the only one treated like shit here?

I brought in a laptop that was 15 years old in which I had family photos on that we could no longer retrieve. John did a data recovery for me and recovered 95% of the photos for me. I’m so excited to take a trip down memory lane tonight with my family. Thank you John. You have no idea how much those photos mean to me.
I also have a desktop there to be repaired and they are waiting on a part in order to get that up and running. My older son is so anxious about the desktop that he asks me every day if the desktop is ready. I hope to have that back soon so my family can use the desktop and my son can stop inquiring about it.

I was desperate to recover data from a crashed hard drive. The guys at San Diego PC Help saw how concerned I was and agreed to look at it right away. After the first scan, my data was still not there, so I had to escalate to the next level of recovery. That one worked and, much to my relief, I’m back in business. This experience was my third one with them over a several year period — all positive. These guys are awesome and fair. I recommend them without reservation.

After bringing my desktop to the Geek squad 3 times and forking up hundreds of dollars like an idiot for the past 2 – 3 years and still not having my problem resolved, I decided to take it to PC help on a whim. It was around the new year so I don’t know how fast they usually are but it took about a week for them to resolve my issue and they finally found out that I had a bad memory chip. Something the geek squad could never figure out.
These guys were ½ the price and 10x better, desktop is working perfectly for the first time in years and I’m loving it. Next time go to a place where they aren’t paid to look like geeks. The geek squad look more like Jehovah’s witness anyway. These guys on the other hand are what you want in your technician. Their lives are gaming and PCs, why pay more and give your stuff to some imposter who just LOOKS the part?
I will be taking all my tech here if I have any issues from here on out. Geek squad can stick it.

I should have paid attention to the other Unilocalers who gave this place 1 – 2 stars. I brought in a laptop that was over heating and powering off on its own. They had the laptop for almost 3 weeks. After 2 weeks I called for an update and was told they’re still working on it and will call back with an update. They did call back a few days later saying the laptop was not displaying the the issues for which I brought it in for.
I picked up the laptop and several days later the laptop just died. Since it was still under their warranty repair I brought it back. This time they had the laptop for 26 days during which I had called twice and was told both times «it’s still on the workbench being worked on, I’ll call you tomorrow with an update.» They never called back. This was my fathers laptop and he had lost patience waiting so he went out and bought a new laptop. Can you blame him? How many of you can go with out your computer for 44 days?! So I called for the 3^rd time on day 26 and was told they diagnosed the issues. Final analysis, the cost of the repairs would amount to the cost of a new laptop. During the whole time I was never updated on the status of the laptop. I had to be the one calling them. I wonder if I had not called on day 26 when would they have called me to let me know that they were done with the laptop?
Avoid this place unless you don’t mind doing without your computer for more than a month and being kept out of the loop as to what’s going on with the repair.

My custom PC wouldn’t boot up to WIndows, a recovery disk or Ubuntu CD. I looked around and found SD PC Help and decided to come here because of all the raving reviews and their prices are way cheaper than Fry’s or Best Buy.
So I dropped off my PC and paid the $ 89 diagnostic fee. Fine. Johnathan said it would take 5 – 10 days. I was like 5 – 10 days to just take a look at it? and he assured me that it would probably be a lot quicker.
2 weeks passed… I’m assuming they meant 5 – 10 business days but anyways, it felt like a long time. FInally I called them, was put on hold for 20 minutes and finally was told that my computer was being looked at and they’d call back tomorrow.
So they did call back the next day saying that they couldn’t get it to boot into Windows either, saying my Windows files were corrupted. They offered to recover the data from my hard drive for $ 150 and re-​install Windows for $ 100. Since I do know my way around a computer, I said I would just do it myself.
So the next day I went to pick it up. They said they tested all of my hardware and everything was working great. They said they were able to boot into it using HIRENS boot CD and had success and would be the way for me to recover my data before reinstalling Windows. Awesome.
Just as I’m about to leave, I notice a bunch of marks on my PC (I have a white case)…I try to wipe it off and most of it comes off but it looked a little scratched… Later when I was setting up my PC back at home, I kept finding more and more scratches… nothing huge, but still I couldn’t believe it.
Anyways, I was able to backup my data and get Windows working again thanks to Hirens.
tl;dr
All in all, the guys that work there are great. Even though I had a not so great experience, I would recommend these guys as opposed to Geek Squad or Fry’s. For me, I had already spent weeks trying to fix my computer by myself, and bringing it here just delayed me. I spent $ 89 and lost 2 weeks and computer was returned to me exactly the way it was.
Most people don’t know anything about computers or how to fix them when they have problems, and this is exactly what/​who SD PC Help is for.

I’ve gone to SD PC Help twice within the past 8 months for data recovery.
Back in September I had a compact flash card fail while I was taking photographs on a trip. I found SD PC Help and mailed in the CF card, hoping for the best. Unfortunately no data could be recovered from the card, but John was able to explain to me what exactly had failed and why no data could be retrieved. I was sad to lose 16GB of photos, but I was impressed with how thorough John had been in trying to save my data.
When my Western Digital external hard drive started making the clicking noise of death a few months later, I knew exactly where to go. Not only were the guys able to recover my data, they conveniently had an external hard drive available on site so I didn’t have to buy a new one elsewhere and drop it off. My data was backed up to the new drive, and when it was ready I picked it up from a real person at their repair facility. Added brownie points for being a local small business with actual people I can talk to.

Had a thumb drive with a lot of important emails that broke. SD PC Help was able to recover all of the data from the drive for me. While I was picking up the drive with the recovered data I asked about other services they provide, and will definitely go back if I need anything else!

My computer was locking up left and right with blue screens turning my face red. Chris and Eric took a look at the machine and figured out quite quickly that it was simply overheating and just needed adjustments to the cooling fans. Very honest of them; they could have told me anything with such severe processor behavior. I was fearing the worse, but now I am happily humming along once again.
I have used San Diego PC help many times over the years and have found their services and knowledge very honest, sharp, clear and efficient. Very reassuring to have them available when in need!

Late last night my computer would suddenly not load windows. It kept showing me a message about loading UEFI or Legacy and I have no idea what that means. I needed to access my computer fast because I am working on my dissertation. Losing date would cost me to lose MONTHS of work. After calling the manufacturer and being told that they need a few days to send out the part and technician I got really anxious and decided to try somewhere else. I went over to Best Buy and they quoted me $$$$ and said it would take them up to 5 days to even look at it. Anyways, I called over San Diego PC Help and they told they could look at it right away while I wait in their really comfortable game/​internet room. They were amazingly helpful, I was in and out within a half an hour with a solution to my problem and they charged me less than a $ 100.
Cannot recommend them highly enough!

Mebbe if i had a better experience i would rate higher just based on knowledge. But their customer service is just a nice veneer to take your money.
Charged me $ 200 for a job that should have been $ 160 at most. Refused to give me a quote even though i knew exactly what was wrong with my computer and charged me $ 90 for that service.
Forgot to do a software check even though i explicitly asked them too and told me it would take another day AFTER i had driven 20 minutes to get there.
Yea they got the skills. But they are way overpriced and use unbelievable excuses to take your money.

I brought my Samsung Galaxy S 4g here awhile ago and it was absolutely the worst experience I have EVER dealt with in my experience with sales.
I needed a replacement digitizer and they charged me $ 200 for it — which I guess is the norm now a days.
They quoted me that it was going to take 2 weeks to do, which ended up taking OVER 3 MONTHS.
I am not exaggerating here.
I had returned once because the front camera failed to work. — turns out they ordered the wrong part…
Two weeks later I don’t get any call from them. I call them to see when my phone is going to be done. They told me that they ordered the wrong part AGAIN. How is this even possible? How do you call yourselves professionals for ordering the part wrong twice?..
FINALLY after months of waiting, I pick up my phone. I realized during the install job, they misplaced and lost the speaker head on my phone… …
I call them and they tell me to come back in and they will get it fixed for me.
A simple fix, one might say — minutes to complete. They keep telling me they will need the phone for 2 – 3 days, which is ridiculous. I have spent hours waiting, had multiple trips to this store. A simple fix like this obviously does not take this long.
Got fed up, never returned to the store. They can keep their ratty speaker piece.
Stay far, far away from this place.

Thank you Todd for reaching out and apologizing for insinuating my review to be false. I appreciate the attempt at also repairing our business relationship. Personally I will not do any further business with this company, but acknowledge an attempt was made.

These guys are not the closest to me, but it was their 100% Unilocal rating that led me to them. I had a laptop crash (tried to install a too-​old version of Quickbooks and it just crushed the OS).
Fast, friendly, and most importantly, effective. Reasonably priced as well.
I hope that I don’t need to use these guys again, but if I run into issues, I’m there.

Having been to the bestbuy geek squad before and gotten crap service that took 2 weeks to repair at the cost of almost a new PC, I refused to take my PC back to Bestbuy. Found the Unilocal reviews and it was all true about SD PC help– superior PC diagnostics, quick turnaround and cheap!
If you get the BSOC and no amount of driver updating on your own worked, this place is the best. I walked out for under $ 180 w diagnostic, PC tuneup & driver updates, & a replacement DVD drive and my PC is running better than it ever did before, all performed in under 2 days!!. Am going back for any other computer probs I have in the future

My dad, being the ultra thrifty, old school non-​techie that he is, asked me to help him with his dying E-​Machines computer (which he purchased from Best Buy).
He gave me a budget of only $ 250 to get it fixed (which I felt was unrealistic) and decided to roll with SDPC Help again. My dad’s machine was hosed but the HD could be saved. Since my dad only wanted to use internet and email, the guys at SDPC Help suggested we moved the HD to an older «used but working» no-​frills PC in a smaller case (with a bonus DVD drive). We managed to have it all done quickly and well within budget. My dad lost no data, still had his internet bookmarks saved but (as a bonus) got AVG Anti Virus added to keep him safe while surfing.
My dad was very happy… and that made me happy too.
