Great work on my Toyota Corolla. John always gives honest suggestions. Their knowledge about Toyota cars are awesome. They always tell you all technical details about repair work.
Very professional. I am very happy that I choose them for my car repair.

The only place I will take my Toyota Tacoma! These guys know what their doing when it comes to Toyota and Lexus vehicles. Great service and very knowledgeable, The prices don’t seem more than any other automotive shop. Even if the prices are higher it’s worthy it, I depend on my truck everyday so it only makes sense to have the best Toyota shop in town maintain my vehicle.

These guys are the absolute best. I’ve been going to them for over ten years with three cars. John is the most honest mechanic I’ve ever known. Darrel’s work is flawless. I’ve never had a problem. They use genuine Toyota parts. Which makes their prices a little higher, but if you value your Toyota, it’s worth it. You get what you pay for. These guys have kept my 17-​year-​old 4-​Runner running like its brand new.

Been using SD TRUX since 2011 for our Sienna. Having worked in the automotive industry for 10 years, I’d like to think I know a little bit about vehicles, car service, and customer service. SD TRUX exceeded all expectations. Personnel turnover in the automotive industry is extremely high. Associate with someone who has roots and will be there for you time and time again (and save a little cash too). You’ll find John personable, honest, and a pleasure to work with. His operation is a blessing for San Diego Toyota & Lexus owners.

Can’t be happier! So friendly — and professionalism from the entire team. Was expecting a $ 600+ bill but got out under $ 280. What a delight to deal with such honest and helpful people. You can tell they love their jobs.

I have owned my 80 series LC for over a decade and it’s my baby, I was referred to SD Trux as a dealer alternative, lets face it the dealers don’t get many of these anymore and quite frankly I was getting the impression that they lacked experienced talent to deal with my aging cruiser. Cut to SD Trux, I couldn’t be happier, my vehicle has never been in a better mechanical state. There’s no up sell, no bull$hit and these guys are as genuine as it gets.
I will not go anywhere else, nor should you. They’ve won me over so much that we now take my wife’s ’13 Lexus here for all the same reasons!

John and his team at San Diego Trux are fantastic. They genuinely care about their customers, are honest, and know their stuff. My 4Runner doesn’t go anywhere else for service.

This is the only Toyota specialist in San Diego that I trust with my ’04 4Runner and my wife’s ’08 Camry. It is an absolute pleasure to deal with John on the phone– he actually understands the specifics of each of the vehicles he deals with, as compared with a service writer who may have no experience with mechanical issues.
After absolutely PATHETIC experiences with multiple Toyota dealerships in the region, I needed a trustworthy shop and couldn’t be happier. There is no pressure for unnecessary services at SD Trux — any legitimate issues are well described and, in my experience, repaired to factory or better than factory condition using OEM parts.
My 4Runner has 180k hard pavement/​off-​road miles, and I fully expect it to crack 300k with the assistance of John and his team at SD Trux.

John and Daryl have been taking care of my truck for 7 years now and when it came time for a major repair (Head & Head Gasket) there was no question who was going to save my beloved Toy and I will trust it for another 180,000 miles.

John and team are the best! They never over charge or «recommend» unnecessary repair. While a routine service at a dealership can cost you around $ 150, here you can get the same done for about $ 50. They always get the work done on time and are very friendly and professional.

Took my baby in (98 Cruiser) because it was making a terrible clicking sound. I thought it was cv joints but John wanted to take a look at it before giving me a quote that I may or may not need. It turned out to be a very simple fix that saved me a ton of money. It appeared I needed some other work done though and got my car in on a Friday afternoon. Again this repair ended up requiring a minor fix as opposed to a major repair. I’m very happy that I found this shop they are good people!

John and his team have some of the best customer service I’ve ever seen. You won’t find a more honest and professional place to have your Toyota serviced. They do what needs to be done and don’t try to up-​sell what doesn’t. I’ll keep coming back here and with their help my pickup will run forever.

My wife and I have been taking our Lexus GS300 and RX300 to SD Trux for a few years now so this review is overdue. John is straight forward and honest with the repairs needed. No upselling. The quality of the work is top notch and costs much less than a dealer would charge. If you have a Toyota or Lexus car/​truck repair I highly recommend trusting the service you will get at SD Trux. (cars too!) :)

SD Trux was recommended to me by a work colleague who is an avid Toyota off road vehicle owner and driver. I was looking a repair shop that was good in «all things Toyota». I brought my 2003 Camry into the shop for the first time in Sept 2011 and have been a customer ever since then. SD Trux does all my oil and tire rotations. In addition, they have fixed things as needed.
I recently had them replace the starter motor. In fact, that whole transaction was done over the phone. I had AAA tow my car to the shop. They diagnosed it, called me to inform me of my options, repaired it, and I picked up the car that evening after hours.
I also had them replace the seals on the valve stems and the intake manifold. John, the owner, was even kind enough to see if there were any service bulletins or recalls to help defray the cost.
If you looking for a mechanic for your Toyota that will tell it as it is, I high recommend SD Trux.

I had an excellent experience with John and his staff at SD Trux. Found a vehicle near him online, and had John do a thorough pre-​purchase inspection and some work to the Land Cruiser before driving it across country.
They did an awesome job with the work at a fair price, and I was especially appreciated since I live in PA he knew I wouldn’t be a repeat customer.
Wish we had a Toyota specialty shop near home that was as good as these guys!

I have been coming to San Diego Trux since 2001, and they have always taken care of me and my Toyota vehicles. They are trustworthy, do an amazing job, and charge a very fair price. I trust them with my beloved vehicles, and not only that. They have become friends as well. You will not go wrong bringing your Toyota to these guys!

This is the only shop I trust my car. They do great work, honest and reasonable prices. I’ve referred several of my friends and relatives to this shop and none of them have been disappointed.

The fact that San Diego Trux is successful is by no means a mystery at all.
I mean, seriously, the owner John will literally try to talk you out of work that you might «think» you need, or have been told that you need by someone else.
That type of real-​deal honesty is what keeps me taking my 4Runner and my wife’s Rav4 there and nowhere else. Also, his staff are seasoned pros that have been there quite some time– definitely a family feel to the whole operation.

I am way overdue in updating my review for this shop. John and all the guys at SD Trux are the best! A month or so ago I was up north visiting my parents and my truck broke down. When I called AAA to have me towed, I told them they had to get me to SD Trux. After a 225 mile tow ride, my 4Runner was delivered to their very capable hands. That is how committed I am to this shop! They got my truck back up and running in a short amount of time for a very reasonable price.
Fast forward to today. I went out to start my 4Runner only to discover that my catalytic converter had been stolen overnight. I called John and he said although he loved working on my truck, there was a muffler shop that could replace it for a cheaper price. That’s what I love about this place! They are HONEST and FAIR! They also do amazing work! If you have a Toyota, you definitely need to go here!

My father owns two 4runners and has taken both of them to this shop. So when I ended up getting mine, he told me right away to go see this shop. And they did not disappoint. Honest, dependable, fair, and effective. They were even able to give me a lift to my work (keep in mind my work is 2 miles from their shop). My truck will only be going to this shop.
Keep in mind they are only open weekdays so plan ahead, also drop off your vehicle in the morning in case they back up.
