There are so many rules/​laws when it comes to building in San Diego County. The city is starting to crack down on code violations from big to small, existing structures, illegal room additions, retaining walls, patios, etc., and owners can be fined steeply if not done correctly and do not have permitted plans submitted to the city of San Diego. Usually, you will be fined by the city over time, and if the structure has not complied with the city within their time table, they will force you to tear down, which can be very expensive.

Remove the hassle and worry of being fined by the city and have correct, professional and legal plans drawn up. In the end it costs less to do it this way than it does to be in code violation/​continuously fined by the city.

In 2010 Kris took over as lead designer, to continue to provide well designed and reasonably priced building plans.

Established in 1974, «Sarkela & Associates» was started in by Jon Sarkela, a graduate of San Diego State University.

Now called Sarkela Building Design, Jon’s son Kristofer Sarkela now works as a principle designer/​Owner and has over 19 years of architectural building design experience in both commercial and residential.

With a fresh eye, intuitive design skills, and extensive knowledge of building code ordinance within city and county of San Diego, Kris can help shape any building design dreams into reality.
