SD Wax Queen

No idea how this place has four stars. Most unprofessional experience I’ve ever had. I would never come back.
The girls only prove my point further by replying to bad reviews with rude comments. If someone has a bad experience you should do everything you can to get them back in and make it right.
I was obviously very upset with my service and was still asked to pay more than I ever have for a lash tint let alone one that didn’t even take to my eyelashes.
One bad experience is worth thousands in advertising.

Getting waxed is pure torture in my book, however Jennifer is awesome! She can always get me in and it is quick. She is personable and easy to talk to. The conversation really helps pass the torture time. :) Also, the wax itself it always on point. No patchy areas and always clean.

I came in for my first bikini wax and took advantage of the $ 50 for $ 75 Unilocal deal. Jennifer was very nice and very quick, made my first bikini wax not nearly as painful as I was expecting! I am looking forward to using the $ 45 of my voucher for either another wax down the line or for another service they offer.

Super friendly. Worked with two of us to get our greatest value and took our Groupon. Very quick and thorough. «I’m done already?» is a great feeling when it comes to waxing services!

Very good place. Jennifer is very experienced and skilled. Waxing is good, facials are awesome.

I got a wax and spray tan today. These ladies are amazing. The tan is even and the wax was not even painful.

My first wax ever was an easy and almost pain free process. She talked to me the whole time to keep my mind off it and i came to her with a groupon. Great deal, will be returning next time

Awesome! Pulled over when I saw this place for an «emergency» eye brow wax and results look great! It looks like she does everything from eyebrows to men’s Brazilian. The area looks questionable but the office was clean and owner friendly.

I am not sure why there are negative reviews for this place. I tried it out today and my experience was quite pleasant. I received a Brazilian wax which was as comfortable as a Brazilian wax can be. The lady was quite friendly and made the experience less uncomfortable.

This place looked a little intimidating at first, but don’t let that stop you from coming here.
First, let me start out by saying I had my two kiddos with me (gotta get things done when you can!) and not once did Jen mind that they were there. She even brought out a basket of toys for the oldest who wasn’t in the stroller. When I called to make the appt she put my anxiety at ease when I told her I would have children with me and she quickly replied «It’s no problem, were kid friendly here!»
I got my wax and spray tan here today and it was amazing. The wax was efficient, quick, and looks incredibly neat and pretty. She talked to me the whole time to keep my mind off the minor sting, and was friendly and comfortable. She even offered to do my backside at no additional cost, and made me feel at ease although I had never had it done before! ;)
Professionalism is always my top priority, because stripping down in front of a complete stranger is always a little nerve wracking, no matter what!
Next we did my custom airbrush spray tan and she had me get in the nude, step into the tent, place my hair in a hair tie she provided, and had little things to step my feet on so the bottoms of my feet wouldn’t get orange. She was incredibly thorough with each area she tanned, and then manually blew me dry so she could move on to the next body part. She took her time, had me move in different ways based on my body type and then let me dry in front of a fan until I felt ready to get dressed.
I highly recommend this place, and I will be going back for sure! I’m looking forward to showing off my beautiful glowing tan and perfectly waxed bikini line this weekend by the pool in Las Vegas!

Jen is amazing!!! I have come here twice in the past week and will continue coming here for facials, waxes etc. she is professional, very funny and most importantly, makes her clients feel comfortable instantly. Thanks and I’ll be back soon!

I will never go anywhere else for any kind of waxing other than SD Wax Queen. Jennifer is phenomenal at what she does. She is incredibly detailed, careful and professional. I’ve had numerous different areas waxed and always had the best experience and results. I trust her completely and always feel very comfortable. Sometimes we talk a lot, sometimes not as much but it’s never awkward or uncomfortable. She is such a nice person and has a ton of experience. I think the prices are very reasonable for what you get and they run specials often.
No matter where I live in San Diego, this is the only place I will go!!!

I don’t know what the hell you people giving low reviews are thinking. this place is AMAZING.
I have been going to the Wax Queen for Brazilians since I can remember. She is damn good at what she does… and I have been around. Trust.
I have lived in San Diego on and off for about 10 years. Every time I move and get a wax in a new place. I always hate it. and think. ugh– I wish I went to Jen. She is just that good.
The place is always clean and welcoming. She is quick and thorough at what she does. I have never experienced any rash, ingrown hair or burns (from hot wax) when I see Jen… and at other places I have. so I can appreciate what a great swift job she does!
The thing is, getting a Brazilian is quite an intimate experience and she makes you feel totally comfortable and makes it no big deal, which I have always appreciated. She is down to earth and super friendly.
Crystal, the receptionist is amazing also. Friendly and so great at following up with you for appointments and any pending details.
I have recommended many of my friends to the Queen and ALL love her like I do.
Give her a shot and you will not be disappointed.

This place is great. Yes, it is on Midway. Yes, I have always found a parking space here. The appointment lasts less than 30 minutes, even on the busiest of days. Only your first visit takes more time due to the professional manner with which you will be treated.
Fast. Professional. Comfortable. Parking.

So I have been getting Brazilian waxes for about 6 years now. I wax everything else myself, but cannot muster up the nerve to torture myself in that region!
I’ve found a lot of Groupons for discount brazilians and have tried a couple since moving to SD. All of my experiences have been different.
Jennifer was the one who waxed me this time. True, she is not chatty, but that’s just the way some people are! So I chatted her up! Yes, she has you undress with her in the room, but I’m not shy at all (how shy can you be when the chick is gonna wax your nether regions?! Lol) so I stripped down and she started waxing away! It was the LEAST PAINFUL wax I have EVER had!!! She used soft wax, my personal fav, and did small areas at a time! I never flinched! She got all hairs and I was very pleased with the results! The only complaint I have is that I experienced more ingrown than other places. I don’t know if this is due to the technique, or what?
As long as you don’t mind being the chatty Kathy during your session, you’ll be über pleased with your results!
This just might be my regular spot!

Horrible experience! Went here because its near where I live but the lady did the worse job ever. I always go to different places to see how they wax. I don’t recommend coming here. The lady left me sticky and bleeding afterwards with hairs still. They say they specialize in Brazilian waxes. don’t believe them! They had bad wax and she put it on too hot. The after result was so bad. Worse wax Ive ever gotten.

First of all, I have been going to Jen for 6 years, since I moved to SD. I love her and won’t ever go anywhere else! (I have actually tried a couple other places, instantly regretting it.) Even moving a couple of times in between the years, I come back to her when I am in town to get my brazilians and eyebrow tint/​wax.
My eyebrow hair is naturally extremely blonde, and she waxes and dyes them the perfect shape/​color for my face. Several of my friends now go to her to get their eyebrows done because of how great they look. It is always a great experience; her salon is very clean, prices very reasonable, and I enjoy chatting with her!
She makes the process as painless as possible. Also, because I have been going to her for so long, my hair is thinner, it doesn’t hurt as much, and I can go 6 – 8 weeks without a brazilian. I really would never go anywhere else. Def recommend :)

I am fighting between a 2 – 3, so I’ll just say this review is a 2.5. Did a pretty good job with the Brazilian although I had to ask her to do the «back». A little irritation around the area came about a day after. For me, this isn’t normal. She seemed pretty clean so it was probably the wax that she used. The interaction was a bit awkward, she stayed pretty silent and seemed distant and not at all social. Probably won’t go back, got a $ 10 deal on groupon.

So here are the good points…

as one reviewer mentioned, I was a little uncomfortable with the fact that she basically just told me to take off my pants and get on the table. Every other place gives you some privacy to undress and then usually put a towel over you before the waxer comes into the room. So that felt a little odd to me.

I asked for a brazillian and, how do I put this delicately, she did none of the ‘behind’ area that a brazilian usually includes. And I wasnt about to ‘request’ this out loud after she told me I was done. She also had me stand up and look into the mirror naked and tell me if it looked ok. again, I felt a little awkward doing so and then getting re-​dressed in front of her.
If you’re a little more comfortable about this stuff, then you will probably have a good experience.

I really wanted to like this place. I live so close to it and thought how great would it be to have a waxer next door. It ended up being a bad first date complete with awkward silences. The conversation just kept dying. At one point it got really awkward when she started talking about how she just broke up with her boyfriend. What was I suppose to say to that? I really felt uncomfortable, which is not a good feeling when you have your pants off.
On the plus side, she was super quick and the price was pretty cheap. But on the con side, I found some patches of missed areas once I got home. Plus whatever wax she was using had me bruising significantly more than in other waxes. When it came down to it I just didn’t feel welcome there. Hard to really put my finger on it, but I got a bad vibe from the place. Once again I really wanted to like this place, but it is not meant to be.
