Going in I had heard very good things from friends. I had what I at least knew was a transmission issue, I didnt know what was wrong i just knew it wouldnt go into gear = transmission. This not being the first car I had it happen to, I thought head gasket or just blown tranny. Both really bad. I set up an appointment with Jose because of the recommendation i had recieved from a friend that he was mobile and does good work.
Now really i was just looking for a diagnostic test to confirm my scary suspision. When he got to work about 10 mins in he said he could fix it on the spot. Gave me my price which was INCREDIBLY reasonable and fair. Had my car fixed and me super happy in less than 45 mins. Ive never been one to recommend mechanics but i will now. Everyone i know will know about Jose and SouthBay Tuning.

This is a great place for any automobile work. It’s awesome that they come to you. Super convenient! I needed an alternator replacement for my wife’s 2006 Mazda Tribute and out of 5 shops, they were the best price. I new it was going to be a pain the remove and replace. The mechanic had no issues. He was also very polite. Which is something that is rare here in San Diego. Thank you!!!

Great customer service, best pricing for parts and labor and the convenience that Jose will come to you! My car had already been towed to my house over the Holiday weekend and I would have had to pay to get it towed again to a mechanic shop. Thank goodness I was referred to Jose and his mobile auto repair service. Saved me money not only on an additional tow but on parts, labor and diagnostic. Best price I found for my type of vehicle in San Diego. Got a new alternator and now my car runs great. I will definitely be calling Jose and his staff for future work on all my family’s vehicles. Jose is the man! Called Southbay Tuning after my car completely shut off while driving. Jose came to do a diagnostic test the following day and provided an estimate for the repairs that needed to be done (new battery and alternator). Jose has exceptional customer service and is very honest with his work. Sometimes working on my car can be a difficult task because my dad likes to have his say in the repairs. Jose did an excellent job communicating with not only myself but keeping my dad updated throughout the process. Following my original repairs, it came up that my car needed a new starter. Without any pressure, Jose provided us with an estimate and when I was ready to move forward, he made it happen in less than 24 hours! I will never go anywhere else when it comes to my auto repairs. Jose provides quality work with exceptional service and he’s an all around great guy! Happy to finally have a mechanic I can depend and trust! Thanks Jose!!!

This was the first person I tried because of the good reviews. Turns out the mechanic is a total D. He promised like 100 times he’d call me back for pricing, he never did. I called him back to check up to see if he was going to be able to do the job or not, all he did was scream on the phone. I couldn’t understand a word he was saying so I hung up on him.

This operation is professional, timely, and honest. They took a look at an admittedly vague problem, test drove the car, had me drive along a second time to make sure we were talking about the same problem, and gave their professional opinion. They printed out actual part costs on the spot to show what their reasonable labor markup would be, and also provided a temporary fix that would confirm or deny the appropriate next step. And they come to you, you can’t beat that.

José and his helper just checked an oil leaking problem from my car and thoroughly explained the issue with detail. He recently changed my oil pan gasket and I thought it was due to recent work however this was not the case. The leaking oil was a result of the head gasket. He concluded by advising that it is not needing service immediately but if the leaking oil was an inconvenience he would have to remove a few vital parts and suggested to have reconditioning maintenance done in that area while he was at it. Basically knocking out a few birds with one stone. He left the decision up to me and did not push anything as most mechanics tend too. I owe him and his helper one for coming through at no charge thinking the leak was due to the oil gasket being replaced. Sucks that I only had plastic and no cash to atleast tip them, I’ll get em next time Forsure! Thanks again Jose.

5 stars to JOSE. my best friends mom referred me to Jose when my car wouldn’t start. He fixed my oil pan and an oil change, and also replaced my transmission used and runs like new. I will definitely be coming to him with minor to big problems with my car. I’ve had other mechanics before, and always had a problem. BUT with my services here. so far so good it’s been 4 months and I’m very pleased. Also, I’m always on the go jose was quick, sufficient, and very professional and the best part he gets back you quickly. If your looking for the right mechanic your in the best hands here!!!
