History

Established in 2009.

Opened in 2009 and In Nov 2011, we became the 1rst in Southern CA to give customers the choice of starting washer dryers with Cash, Coin, Credit or Debit Cards. Rob had a 20 year dream to create a laundry that would offer premium services to customers in an environment that would be relaxing, welcoming and friendly. After spending 25 years in the service industry he brings a welcoming spirit, pride in keeping well funcitioning laundry machines, delivery of esthetic surroundings, and excellent customer service. When the opportunity arose to make over a space with «good bones» he jumped on it and after a non-​stop one month rennovation opened Spin Spa, a laundry retreat in beautiful Pacific Beach, just south of La Jolla. How cool is it to be able to take a 3 block walk to the ocean and have the breezes cool our laundry.

So I tried Spin Spa wash and fold again after many years… in fact, I tried them twice. The first time I could have sworn my clothes were soaked overnight in fabric softener. The smell was so strong that I broke out in hives. It took 4 washes at another laundry mat to get out the smell, and some clothes had to be thrown away. I tried one more time. They used two different soaps on my clothes even though I specifically asked for specific soap. I know this because there were two distinct smells to my clothing: strong powder and strong fabric softener. My clothes were dry so they got that right, but my socks were still dirty and I broke out in hives.

Not a huge fan. I specifically drive here because of the pay by card option and also the pay from a phone app. But the pay from a phone feature doesn’t work to actually turn on the machines after you pay — last time I was here the guy told me that they should put up a sign up because it doesn’t work for anyone. And the touch screen that you use to pay with your card takes 5+ button pushes per try to actually get the computer to register — the screen and/​or program is totally shot. This will be my last time here — I would rather get quarters and stick closer to home and not mess with technology that doesn’t work. There is nothing else special about this place.

If you don’t use the wash and fold service you are mission out. It is the best service out there and Spin Spa does a phenomenal job washing my clothes and folding it. They even separate my socks and underwear in separate bags. I love Patty, she knows how I like my clothes to be washed and always goes above and beyond making sure I am a happy customer.

The people are nice, but they shrunk my pants even after I gave special instructions to use low heat. They seemed to be very concerned with high turnover and getting your cloths dried quickly and on to the next one rather than concerned with the care of your clothes. I understand that they would like to maximize output, however when paying $ 25 for someone to wash your clothes, I would hope for a little more care and attention to detail. It’s always a little risky letting someone else do your laundry and unfortunately my fears were realized. I would only bring crappy clothes here you don’t care about.

This facility is not clean. About a month ago a dead cockroach was chilling right by the washers. It was about 3 inches. Not going back after that encounter. Also, their washers and dryers are always out of order. This facility is always crowded! The dryers are also horrible. Now we go to a nice little spot across the street. Cheaper, dryers are awesome, and it’s so quiet.
Only plus side was that you can pay with a card, however, they hold $ 20 increments. My account was on hold for $ 60 when I had only spent about $ 5 and only made one transaction, cleared but it was nerve wrecking.

Wow I was really hoping to write a different review after my experience here. I have been getting my laundry serviced here for only about 2 months now since I recently opened a business nearby. Everything was fine (except the 24 hour turnaround time) but I could deal with that until recently. On October 4th I purchased a new shirt from Bebe for $ 54.00 for a vacation I went on in October. On October 23rd I brought my shirt in (it is not one that is supposed to be dry cleaned mind you) and put it in a lingerie bag and told them to be careful with this shirt. When I went to pick it up I saw it was hanging and not in the bag which is fine as long as it was washed in the bag, so I decided to check it since I had been specific with them. Sure enough, I find a one inch rip on the side of it. I tell the attendant immediately and took a picture with him holding up my shirt so they could not say that this happened after I left. He told me he would contact the manager to see what they could do and for me to bring the receipt.
I came back a few days later and brought a copy of the receipt and the manager (who spoke almost no English) was very rude and told me she needed the actual receipt not the copy and was acting like this was my fault and I was being an inconvenience to her so much so that I had to remind her that I was the one that has been inconvenienced and started to get upset. She then told me she had to keep my shirt for the owner to look at and couldn’t give me a day as to when he would be in. Reluctantly I left my shirt and never got a call back about what was going on. I came in a week later to check and they just handed me my shirt and said they couldn’t give me a credit for the cost of the shirt (even a laundry credit) basically because they didn’t want to take responsibility for ruining it. So I took all of my laundry and went elsewhere.
It’s too bad because my whole salon is no longer using this facility two blocks away. Wow, if I ran my business like that I wouldn’t be in business! Amazing!

This place is very clean and not too busy. There’s plenty of seating and they take credit and debit cards. I saw the mployees constantly cleaning the laundry machines after each use and it makes me feel good knowing that they actually clean them.

Very poor service here! It was my first time using the machines and when I asked for help the girl working there was extremely reluctant. When I went back to her a second time she referred me to another guy who was supposed to be on the floor. Well he wasn’t! After waiting a few minutes some guy walked in an I approached him and asked if he was the guy in charge. I felt like he almost didn’t want to admit it. Very reluctant poor service from both of the employees there. I will never go back again. It was a bad experience because both of them were on the verge of being rude!

After selling my house & recently moving to San Diego, I find myself back to using laundromats. After reading the great reviews about Spin Spa Laundry I decided to try it myself. I’m very happy I did. Very clean, spacious and many washers & dryers for use. It was fairly busy but I never had to wait for a machine. I will definitely be coming back to this facility for all my washing needs (& possibly try the fluff & fold, too).

This place was very clean and quiet. Two pros while doing laundry I’d say. FYI, it’s 2 hour parking spots and not many spots available in the small parking lot. I went early on a Sunday morning, so it wasn’t a problem. The thing I like best is the ability to pay with cc/​debit.

When it comes to a laundry mat in Pacific Beach or San Diego for that matter, this place trumps all. The experience, if you can call laundry an experience, starts with the location. Spin Spa Laundry is just 2 blocks from the beach, sits catty cornered from a 7 – 11, and most importantly is located next door to a family owned taco shop which has an open salsa bar. Huge bonus points for a free salsa bar since every other taco shop in San Diego has become so damn cheap they only give you two tiny salsa containers for the two pound cali burrito you ordered.
Besides an unbeatable location this place has friendly staff, affordable fluff n fold, normally keeps ESPN or the news running on multiple flat screens, accepts credit and debit cards for all machines, has super fast FREE wifi, has a coffee dispenser, provides comfortable tables and chairs to do work from, is kept clean, has a bathroom, and stays open until 9pm most nights. Even better it is rarely crowded, there are no bums posted up nearby, and the crowd seems to be older in case you leave your clothes for a moment to retrieve some eats. Definitely try this place out.

No complaints, I hate that I don’t have laundry at my place but spin spa makes it easy and painless. Sometimes I drop off and have them do it, they do a phenomenal job by the way. If I’m feeling like saving some cash ill do it myself, which is easy because they machines actually take cards and I do t need 20 bucks worth of quarters!!! Super clean, nice staff, tvs, wifi, clean bathroom… the kicker no tweekers, bums or dirtbags anywhere near the place!

Not sure what to say other than the fact that they provide one of the most excellent fluff-​and-​fold services at a reasonable rate. There are cheaper options, but I find their pricing to be reasonable enough because the turn around time is so fast, and they have always done an excellent job on my clothes.
If you go frequently enough, they’ll give you a couple drop-​off bags with name tags that include your specific washing instructions. It’s so easy to just drop off your bag, walk out, and come back the next day with everything done and either folded perfectly or hung and ready to go in the closet.

After being denied a drop off at a «shall remain nameless» less than Joyful, Maximumly annoying place on the corner of Ingraham and Garnet because it was 5:30pm (with no signage for drop off times and me saying it was okay if I didn’t pick up for a day or two… I came to Spin Spa. According to their signage, they accept drop-​offs until 9:30pm! And it is ready to pick up at the same time the following day. SCORE!
The following day, pick up my expertly folded/​hung up clothes from a very sweet guy. Pay my incredibly reasonable bill, and get home to find all of my clothes smelling fresh, unwrinkled, unshrunk, and not damaged in any way.
Spin spa is my new best friend and savior from the anguish that is laundry day!
