The first time I’ve ate sushi was from here and the Eastlake location. The Teriyaki Chicken is definitely addicting, just can’t pull myself away to try anything else at this point. Food always tastes great and fresh. Staff is also warm and inviting.

Worst sushi spot in San Diego, definitely don’t recommend this place to anyone they take no pride in making sushi rolls… It’s embarrassing what I got when I order my tuna roll…

This is a great place if you are looking for a cheap, fast, and affordable option for sushi, udon, or rice bowls. It is my repeat place when it comes to their Udon and sushi roll maki takeout. If you are looking for fresh sashimi and nigiri however, you should go to a higher quality place. They have alternating daily deals, and their maki combos come with a small salad and dumpling. I go to this place pretty often for takeout, but opt for a different option if I am looking for a dine-in experience.

My sushi & sashimi are sublime, just yummy. Added on miso for just a quarter. I got the combo lunch bento box. The New tables, basket lamp shades and subtle Asian décor make this place a winner EXCEPT… the bathroom is ATROCIOUS. STINKY, OLD. Get some glade plug ins & a $ 35 dollar bucket of paint… come on, get with it. Would you let a guest that was visiting your home use facilities that look like that INYOURHOME? Make us, your loyal customers, on the same level as a guest. Thanks

Cheap, good sushi. This place is best for take out. I came in thinking it was a restaurant where you get served. Great portions too.

This food is good. Decent sushi prices. Nice sit down place for sushi instead of going to an actual sushi bar

SushiMan is my name and Inari is my game! Best Inarizushi rolls in town! Inarizushi is a kind of sushi or rice ball. Sushi rice is stuffed in seasoned Aburaage tofu pouches. Inarizushi is technically sushi, but it is not something you order at nice sushi restaurants. It is easily found at supermarket delis, but, as you know, home made is the best. SushiMan is a very casual dinning experience and a perfect lunch spot.

Now, I understand that this place is cheap, but I didn’t go in with high expectations. Let’s just say that whatever they gave me was NOT sushi. Maybe call it sushi-ish? Save yourself the stomach ache.

I’m normally in the shopping complex for my weekly Target trips or weekend Jamba. I’ve seen this place a handful of times but finally stopped by this afternoon for a late lunch. They have their daily specials and menu posted right on the Windows(hence luring me in for a crunch maki!) I was surprised by how much food was included in the special for just a little over $ 7 and I scored a side of miso soup for a quarter! There wasn’t enough dressing for how much salad I got but that wasn’t a problem since I ate this bad boy in the convenience of my own home. Overall, my belly and wallet are extremely pleased. I plan on stopping by again to fulfill my next sushi craving.

Disclaimer: I’m a huge sushi fan, so it’s hard to go wrong with me. If you’re looking for a fine cuisine review, this isn’t it. That being said, I love this little place! Their prices are great, and they have awesome daily specials on top of that. I’ll have to remember to take a picture next time. No matter what the day of the week, they have a bento box option and a sushi option. I’ve gotten out of here for about $ 5 feeling stuffed. If you ask, they’re generous with the ginger/toppings. My new favorite spot!

After driving there from lakeside, the open sign is on, the door is open and the sign says they are open till 8pm. but at 7:41pm they aren’t making any rolls. The girl at the register tells me the kitchen is closed and I said but you are open till 8? She turns around and yells to the kitchen that I said its open till 8. Uh, no your sign does. Maybe they should say they close at 7:30? So I won’t be back. We had just started to really like it here, but horrible customer service ruined that. ***we actually walked back to my car, googled to find another sushi place, drive to another place a few blocks away, looked over the menu, ordered are to go rolls. They were in my hand at 7:59pm sooooo that shows that there was no reason they couldn’t make them and still be closed at 8pm**

Food is ok, customer service is very sub par or non– existent. Only one girl at the register. Dont ask for an extra bow, they wont give it to you. Im baffled why they’re still business…24 hr fitness is next door… people would eat anything after a long workout, no restaurants nearby to choose from. By the way– there’s a bucket in the middle of the restaurant for leakage.

I’ve tried quite an array of items here. I usually always get the California roll or crunch maki with shrimp. OMG. Never disappoints. The best part is I can get a roll that’ll fill me up for 5 – 7 $ add a drink and you’re still paying less than 10 $ for lunch. Try the : California maki(crab and avocado) Crunch maki(sweet sauce on top, crab inside, two of the sushi will have shrimp on top) Philly maki(pretty good, has cream cheese) There’s a spicy maki here that’s pretty good(forgot the name) And there teriyaki maki is really good to.(Forgot the name) This will more than likely always be my sushi go to!

This place was surprisingly really good. A little more expensive that I would have imagined for a place that really is just fast food sushi. The parking usually is not that great just because it’s right in between the Sams Club and 24 Hour Fitness. However, there hasn’t been a time that i have come here and it’s packed. We were on a Wednesday afternoon, it was empty. We took forever looking at the menu, the girl behind the register was very nice. We ended up ordering a crunchy maki roll, I think a california roll and a shrimp bento box. The crunchy was soooo good. I’m allergic to all fish, but when it comes to sushi I have to have it. The maki roll was on point. The california roll was as good as any other that I’ve tried. We also each got a miso soup for .25, I had no idea what it was and figured I’d try it. Everything in the bento box was delicious. The miso soup was weird, but that makes sense to me since I’ve never had it before and really had no idea what it was, but it was a weird kind of tasty.

Stopped here for lunch and the restaurant has changed some. They have expanded the dining area by adding tables and chairs before they only had booths, it looks good. But when you first walk in the door there is still a slight odor, not like food cooking but a musty stale odor. The longer you stay in the restaurant the less you smell that odor. I ordered the Chicken Maki Roll and the Beef Maki Roll to go. The Chicken Maki was tender and had a nice flavor but the Beef Maki was chewy and not tender. The hostess/waitress/register girl was very nice and pleasant. This restaurant has many sushi items and they are all posted on the outside front windows of the restaurant. I don’t like it. But I guess it serves a purpose if you want an idea of the sushi they have to offer before you come in. The restaurant was not busy but it took over 10 minutes before I got my order. Overall, the food was okay, the service was decent.

The prices have increased since my last review and miso soup is no longer free. Bummer. I don’t come here for their rolls. Although they are big and filling, they’re just average and overpriced. I come here for only a few things: my combo bento, spicy ahi poke bento, and spicy salmon bento box. The my combo bento has two pieces of fried fish and tempura shrimp. I actually like the fried fish with the sauce they give you. It’s crunchy. It comes with two pieces of California roll. On Tuesdays, they’re $ 1 off so that’s when I’d get this bento. I’ve been in the search for some spicy ahi poke or spicy salmon. The closest one I’ve found that I really liked is Yoshino’s Deli in Carlsbad, which is pretty far from where I live. SushiMan is closer. Their spicy ahi poke($ 10) and spicy salmon($ 9) is actually not bad, at least to me. They come with rice, some edamame, gyoza, and a small salad. I actually like the spicy mayo sauce they use. It’d be nicer if they added more fish but with everything else on the bento, I’m okay with it.

Being in the neighborhood, I decided to take my best friend here for lunch. I used to come here a couple of years ago, and I remembered the local music they played, and ahi poke they had on the menu. [The music selection earned SushiMan the second star. Reggae, local Hawaiian music etc… Makes me nostalgic while reminiscing of home!] Okay, now back to the restaurant. We approached the counter to order, one cashier was very friendly and the other one — NNNOT so much. lol(in Hawai’i it’s called«stink eye» lmfaoooo) I ordered Inari and the Poke Donburi. Raw fish and rice is probably my favorite meal of all time… and rightfully so — being Japanese it’s in my blood! [ I’m «supposed» to eat that. lol ] Inari… Meh. It was very plain, under seasoned and just boooooring. Boo. Poke Donburi… Absolutely horrendous. Seriously. lol The fish was not fresh and tasted merely of sesame seed oil. What happened to the shoyu? Or the red chili flakes? Or even a touch of sea salt? Wow. Such an easy thing to prepare, yet it was not executed properly at all. Second boo. But wait!!! The absolute shocker of the meal was the rice in the Donburi!!! It tasted burnt… I’m assuming it was the remains of an old pot of rice that has been on «keep warm» for the last 48 hours. there’s no other explanation. W E I R D! How else do you f-up steamed rice in an automatic rice cooker. lol Donburi bowl layers: Steamed rice Furikake Cabbage(raw) Poke Tobiko garnish Cabbage is frequently used in plate lunches etc under the entrée… What I can’t figure out is why it’s used in their Donburi? The restroom is absolutely disgusting. Public potty’s are always sketch, but this one lives up to that stereotype. :/While flushing the toilet, a drop of water dripped on my freshly pedicured toes from the tank and I almost had a heart attack. Gross. At least there was soap, water and paper towels to clean my toilet water toes.(In consideration of the restaurant and patrons, I did NOT wash my foot in the sink. lol!!) With a little TLC from the staff, management and owners — this place could be awesome. Could. ???
