I have no clue what I’m doing in the garden. I do know I just converted our entire front lawn into a blank canvas of mulch ready for drought tolerant landscaping… What an undertaking…
So I went to Terra Bella nursery because I have no clue what I’m doing. I walked in with my overtired yet extremely rambunctious three year old and told an employee at the counter I needed help – because I have no idea what I’m doing. Randy, another employee, stopped whatever he was doing, grabbed a cart for me and took me and my toddler son on a quick tour of the entire nursery. With his guidance we picked out plants that worked with my vision and that will (hopefully) survive my black thumb. I even picked up a few plants that I know will be a great addition now thanks to Randy! Plus, he was way cool with my toddler and with me trying to corral my son.

Best ever. So much less expensive than the big nurseries closer to town… and excellent quality. Bought several king palms for our yard; their trees and shrubs and large and healthy. Lots of selection, and very helpful. Definite thumbs up.

Don’t go to Home Depot or lowes for your gardening and landscaping stuff. Go here. Amazing quality and selection. Staff was very friendly! Prices are fair. Definitely not cheap but appropriate for the quality.

As a Realtor I rely on this store to get all the plants I need to beautify my listings before they go on the market… this place is amazing. They call me to let me know when my order is in. Sometimes I go shopping for my own garden and I spent a long time there just walking around because their inventory is so big. I highly recommend this place.

This place really left a bad taste. We were looking for very specific plants, which they claimed they would order for us. They took nearly 3 weeks to ‘special order’ all the plants, and had me come down on a specific day to pick up. I called three different times the week of to confirm all the plants were in fact collected because I didn’t want to make multiple trips, and was assured everything was as it should be.
Upon arriving on our pick up day, they only had a handful of the plants I spent several weeks waiting for and was told by the guys at the yard that they had only been handed our list that morning. Manolo was actually awesome in helping to remedy the situation as much as possible, but we were still left with about half a dozen plants short.
I emailed the customer service rep that I worked with about his screw up, and didn’t receive so much as a courtesy apology.
If you’re picking up a plant or two, this place is fine, but do not get duped into placing an order if you have a design project. These guys were not trustworthy at all.

My mother has a thing for succulents and is always on the lookout for additions for her container garden, so I’ve been scouring Unilocal!for places with good selections and decent customer service. We’ve been to Solana Beach where parking was at a premium and the store, while well-​stocked and reasonably priced, was physically difficult to navigate: steep terrain and narrow walkways; scary iguana. We’ve been to El Cajon Boulevard with difficult parking and steep terrain; scary locals. But, we’d forgotten about El Sembrador … now called Terra Bella … down in the South Bay. Terra Bella has plentiful parking lot parking! Terra Bella has plant carts! Terra Bella has flat, PAVED terrain with navigable aisles. Terra Bella has helpful salesmen who carry plants to your car if you ask. Terra Bella has a wide selection and affordable prices. Terra Bella has earned my mother’s business and now have a loyal, repeat customer. Best yet: I don’t need a tank of gas to get there as Terra Bella is just two miles away! Score!

Awesome customer service! I’m one of those annoying people who needs to know the name of each plant im purchasing and staff was more then willing to supply. (Succulents names are not labeled)

Organized, several options, competitive pricing! Several staff were around to help and answer any questions I had (I’m very new to the gardening/​landscaping world). They went out of their way to not only get me a cart, but help load it with several items I pointed out. I bought 3 trees, and about 20 succulents~ all priced very well. Another staff member saw us struggling with our cart to the car and took over and come rely loaded our car for us. Will be back!

We went back today to buy another 15 gals apple tree because the nursery just restock more new fruit trees like apple, grapes, avocado, jujube, cherry, banana, grape fruit, Asian pear, tangerine, orange to name a few. The15 gals and some 5 gals fruit trees were already bearing fruits. Manolo is awesome, he hook me up with one free 3 cubic ft mulch and 10% discount on apple trees. While browsing around the nursery two employees stop and ask if we have any questions or need help with anything. Then once we know what we want, we can easily find someone to help us. As always, they have outstanding customer service, someone lifted the apple tree into my car and ensure every branch were tied down and secure to minimize branches from breaking while bringing it home. The nursery is very clean, organize and welcoming to all customers.

I’ve been coming here to get supplies for my fruit, vegetable and flower gardens. This is a beautiful nursery that is well laid out. I enjoy walking through aisle after aisle of their broad variety of plants, trees and shrubs. Their prices are so much better than the box stores. They have this lush Mandevilla with bright giant crimson trumpet flowers that provides shade over their covered areas. I fell in love with it and bought several of the Splendens variety to train on trellises for our outdoor living room. The staff are always helpful and have even helped me to identify clippings that I hadn’t been able to identify myself. They do no carry any water plants (Lotus, Lilies or Water Hyacinths). You can find a variety of reasonable priced planters, fertilizers, & pest/​disease sprays.

It appears Terra Bella Nursery is the new name for Sembrador. They have a fair selection of plants at reasonable prices. Certain seasons will find a bigger inventory than others.
What makes this establishment really stand out is the customer service. They treat each customer as an individual. And they will give you honest advice over selling you plants that will likely die because they are going out of season.
The staff here is also very familiar with what is in stock so you don’t need trek throughout the entire nursery looking for items. They will tell you what’s available right away.
