I’ve been living in the East Village for about a year and have tried a number of barbers. I’ve now found a shop that I’ll go back to. Great cut, good service, very reasonable prices. Staff are friendly. Well done!

1 star. Only because 0 stars is not an option. The place is in downtown where parking is horrific. Because of downtown traffic I called 5 minutes before my appointment to let them know I would be running 5 – 10 minutes late. The receptionist was a female and was EXTREMELY rude, but said «okay that’s fine» in response to me being late.
Upon parking, and literally running to the location she asks us if we can reschedule, with no confidence and an extremely rude tone. I explain that we just spoke on the phone and that she said it was fine. She looks down at her clock and says «yeah we only hold appointments for 10 minutes and it’s been 12. Not only at this point is she telling me to go away after she already told me it’s fine if I’m late… But we have been IN THE STORE for those 2 minutes… Talking with her incompetent self.
Log story short, anyone who has this idiot representing their business… Does not take their business seriously. My first impression of this place is absolute dog shxt. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

This will be my first review ever on Unilocal.Just because I wanted to praise my new favorite barber, Arlene! I’ve been to several San Diego barbershops and no one has shown more dedication and concern for my haircut, except for her. I highly recommend Arlene for your next haircut. She will definitely get your haircut to perfection!

Great place — and cut! Was in town for a few days and walked in without an appointment, leaving with the best cut I’ve had in a while. The price is right too.
Kudos to whoever designed this shop.

Honestly, this is an awesome shop. Alex did a great job on my hair. And the owner squared me away after I had to wait an extra few mintues. I am very pleased I waited because it was well worth it! Top notch barbershop with great classic style for any gentleman.

Went to the shop as a walk in, was immediately taken care off. Although the customer service was good the quality of the cut was not up to par. I asked for an undercut with a taper fade and a line up. My hair line was pushed back and the taper wasn’t really strong. I will not be a repeat customer.

I’ve been here a few times and every time someone asks where I get my hair cut I send them here. Love this place! As the other reviews said they really take the time to make sure your hair is cut to the style you’re going for. Shout out to STEVE for doing an awesome job.

Weak sauce. No one goes here. It’s a new shop with inexperienced barbers. Plenty of other great barbershops downtown close by. Don’t waste your time going here, over priced and not a welcoming environment when you walk in like a TRUE neighborhood barbershop is supposed to be. Felt like I was at a super cute. Next joke. Go anywhere else.

Dope place for a cut the barbers know what they is doing and it was nice and cool on a hot ass day never changing barbers. Old school feelin was dope too and the hip hop fire. #100

This place is really as good as it gets. Simple and straight forward, the barbers here are proud of their profession and it shows. Many of the barber shops I have tried out spend about 10 seconds actually asking what you want. Here, Steve made me feel like my haircut was actually important and I was getting what I wanted out of the experience.
The space is beautiful. All of the detail put into it reflects the pride and professionalism of the employees attitudes. The cuts are priced right and I didn’t feel rushed at all through my haircut. Parking was pretty easy, there are ample meters around the block and a couple of pay lots nearby. The cherry on top is the ease in booking an online appointment, which just makes it so simple to lock down a time with the barber you want. If you’re planning to try it out for the first time, I definitely recommend Steve Ortega.

This place is RAD! Super old school vibe with clean cuts. They take walk-in’s but probably not for too much longer. I’m sure it’s going to start booking out fast because they’re quality barbers. This place has all the swag you could ask for. Legit cuts, nice people, good prices and cool environment. Don’t be an idiot get your haircut. Steve is my dude but everyone who works there is more than talented at what they do.

I’ve been to many shops in San Diego, The Dover is by far the best shop in town! Kevin is great when it comes to ensuring the customer always comes first and leaves satisfied with the service provided!!! I’ll definitely be a return customer for years!!!

This place is your only place for top caliber barbers to give the old or new school look you are looking for.
Also, I wasn’t sure about the kind of style that would best suit me since I had long hair for so long, and Kevin G. provided me with a few options that I was able to decide from. Ask for Kevin if you’re looking for experience and the magic touch for your hair.

I’ve reviewed 3 barbershops, but the common denominator has been the barber. Steve, is the best hands down. I’ve followed him around SD, and this might be my favorite of the shops he’s been at. Perfect location and an old school ambiance. You’ll come in for the good vibes, but you’ll keep coming back for the barber skills!

Right when I stepped into the shop I was immediately presented and greeted by the staff. It’s a fairly new shop with great décor. It reminded me of Polite Provisions. I got settled in with my favorite barber Steven Ortega. He knows his craft and he knows my hair. Overall, the experience was great!

Super stoked this new spot opened. Tried it out the first time last week with Steve, who has done with hair several times before at Mister Brown’s. He always did my hair right so I was more than happy to follow him to his new place.
Arrived a little early for my appointment, which gave me time to look around. The shop has an old school traditional barbershop feel to it, amazing vintage props, but never overdoing it.
Steve also did an amazing job with my hair, probably the best job he’s done on me thus far. With my busy schedule, I neglected getting a haircut for too long so Steve definitely had a lot to do. Felt bad he had to spend more time on me than usual, but Steve was a trooper, took his time and worked his magic.
Actually went back there a few days ago to purchase some hair product Steve suggested and showed my girlfriend the place. The ambiance and décor won her over as well. Looks like this shop has some new loyal customers.

Great barbers, atmosphere, and location. Everyone I have met has been friendly and professional. I get my haircut by Steve and he consistently does a great job. 5 Stars. Two Thumbs Up. 3 Yeses.

Finally a real authentic barbershop in downtown San Diego… Very polite, clean, professional barbershop, with talented barbers. And they are open 7 days a week.
