The Junk Yard

having just moved to the other side of hillcrest, i discovered this little store near my new casa. i had been meaning to go in for quite some time but never got around to it until today.
neither of the owners were working, but the female owner’s super sweet mom from new jersey was filling in for them while they tended to their new bambino. she was super super nice to me and super chatty which was nice.
so onto the «junk.» more like «gems!» the teeny tiny store is full of one of a kind pieces and reconstructed vintage that the owner does herself. tons of boots too, which is a plus in my book– and in wearable sizes, thank god. i found 2 fabulous pieces that i just had to have. a pair of 1950’s black silk stilettos with 3D magenta rose buds on them (!!!) for $ 30 with 10% off of that and an adorable mexican dress from the 1940’s for $ 30 as well. and half of the store is records! but i was in a bit of a hurry due to my meter outside so i didn’t get to those.
anyhow, awesome little store. really cool space. i will definitely be going back for sure.

I have to say, the folks who run this place are great, as far as service goes, and the clothes, boots, and records are pretty cool. If you’re into cool vintage stuff, stop in and check the place out.

I was on the brunch wait list at Café on Park across the street so I had 20 or so minutes to kill. I decided to take a walk around the neighboorhood and was intrigued by The Junk Yard. In side this tiny shop was a really cool couple who amassed a great inventory of clothes, accessories, boots, records, movies, and stuff. My girlfriend bought some ’70 vintage sunglasses and a bat belt loop. I bought a DVD of Goddard’s documentary about the Rolling Stones. Thing neither of us knew we needed until we saw them. Stop by this place if you can. Doubtlessly, you’ll find at least one item that will improve your quality of life.
