Ran across this place after stopping by the coffee shop next door. Very cool, comfortable atmosphere. Lauren did my eyebrows and I love them! The other girls are funny and welcoming too.

Well, this joint is connected to Pokez — the wackest taco shop in the world — and I guess it’s contagious. I’ve seen a few bands play here and a few things are obvious — no one washes the glasses, they are always out of everything worth drinking, the sound in there sucks ass — not to mention the fact that there is never any parking even remotely nearby… If you really want to just enjoy good music and a beer, go somewhere, anywhere else!

The presence of poop in any establishment tends to override anything else it may or may not have to offer. My band played here, and there was ACTUALPOO on the stage. We kicked one off and tried to move on and pretend it didn’t happen, but there were more! My drummer stepped in one, which unleashed the aroma for the duration of our set. BARFTOWN. Then I tried to order a beer: «I’d like ________.» «Sorry, we’re out.» «Okay, how about…________.» «Sorry, we’re out.» «Okay, what do you have, then?» «What do you want?» «I give up.»

Connected to Pokez’s Mexican restaurant, The Rosary Room is a dark, red, cozy homage to Nick Cave/dive bar that is one of the grooviest spots to chill and drink or see a experimental show in SD. When I first moved to San Diego, my friend Neil and I would chill here and get wasted on their $ 8 pitchers of their ghetto sangaria(I’m pretty sure the main ingredients include Coca-Cola, red box wine, and fruit cups) in the tiny, tiny space. Before they renovated the room next door there was enough space for 5 stools at the bar and a small church pew, although you had the option of sitting in the dark, creepy, and slightly stale-smelling Pokez’s next door if you’d like. A few months later, the adjacent room opened up, and there was room for a pool table, a few more pews and small tables, and a stage for music acts. Saw Kid 606 here, who did his best to try and make me deaf. Interesting act though, and the music definitely fit the funky, goth space. Saw a few more electronic/experimental/punk acts here, and every time I’ve dug both the crowd and the vibe.
