I love working in both academic and professional settings.

In academic settings, I teach a leadership course and run a leadership program for MBA students at the University of San Diego. I also guide curriculum reviews for the business school by interviewing Fortune 1000 executives, learning what skills they are searching for when seeking new talent, and influencing faculty to offer courses that better align with executive needs.

In my coaching practice, I work with ambitious people who are eager to transition into the next growth phase of their life, career or business. Whether guiding executives to make more profit yet work less hours, or guiding new parents to navigate work and family responsibilities more effectively, I love to explore how people can be more productive, in the areas they care about the most.

In my free time, I enjoy meals with friends at my home, hiking, rock climbing, yoga, and photography

I met with Chris during a transitional point in my life and I was ready for a career change. He helped me identify my personal strengths, weaknesses, and skills and how to apply this knowledge towards a job search. I had about 4 career coaching sessions with Chris, over about a month. Within that time I had two interviews for jobs I was very interested in and received an offer for each position. I accepted one of the offers and 1.5 yrs later, I am very happy with my career and have had multiple promotions. I will look to chris soon for leadership training to help me succeed in my new position.
I met Chris through a referral and have personally referred friends and colleagues to him as well. He is great at helping you learn more about yourself and how to use to your advantage. He has great experience from university teaching, personal coaching, organizational leadership training, and probably more areas I’m not aware of! He is a valuable resource for those looking to invest in their professional development.

I worked with Chris towards the middle of last year. He’s great to work with and really has a knack for getting down to the real issues and identifying possible solutions.

I found Chris through Unilocal (yay, another successful referral!) because I was at a turningpoint in my career and just didn’t know what to do next. I’d been doing the same thing successfully for many, many years, but didn’t particularly enjoy all aspects of my previous positions, and at the same time, didn’t know what else I could be doing. Everything that the other reviewers said about Chris were true. He helped me realize what I am good at, what I actually like to do, and while I should be able to glean that information myself, I just wasn’t doing that. My sessions with him forced me to really focus on things I wouldn’t otherwise spend the time on. And the sessions proved to be invaluable — I’m in a new position and love it, and more importantly, am seeing the things I’m doing in a new light.

I began working with Chris following Thanksgiving of this year. I had never really of meeting with a life/​career coach because I thought my career path was very clear but recently have had some questions about which direction to take. Upon meeting Chris at our first introductory session I was pleasantly surprised by his openness and real passion for helping me find some answers. We came up with some concrete ideas of how to pursue a passion of mine that I never thought was a career option but he helped me to see that it is all possible. I came away from our first session feeling excited, motivated, and less apprehensive about the changes I needed to make. Also feeling accountable to someone else is increasingly helpful as this process continues because he checks in at the beginning of the session and is also very open to feedback about how the process is going.
The tools and services he provides, which include a strength-​based approach, helped to assist me in identifying what I might be good at, what my values are, and how to execute both of these pieces to create a fulfilled and lucrative lifestyle and career.
I also received detailed feedback on my resume and cover letter as well as in depth interviewing strategies. We role played and he helped me dig a bit deeper to create ways to present myself to an employer that would help me stand out.
Chris is intelligent, strategic, inquisitive, and isn’t afraid to challenge your perspective which is helpful when you want to change something about your life.

I got connected with Chris Watz at a time that I loved the technical side of my job but was so frustrated with some of the «necessary» side effects of any job — challenging coworkers, office politics, and not having a good sense of what I wanted out of my career 10 years into it – that I was considering quitting altogether. Not to mention that I’m the mother of two young children with a graduate degree and was struggling to find balance between a career that I had worked hard to develop and my growing family. Chris’ system was exactly what I needed. After just one introductory session I knew he was going to enable me decipher my core goals and values as well as identify what areas in my professional life that were not helping me achieve them. Through his help I have developed a clear plan to achieving my goals. I have been working with Watz Productivity for close to a year now. I was attracted by Chris Watz’s «strength based» coaching approach. Chris helped me realize what I am good at as well as what I actually like to do, and has constructed a plan to help me benefit from doing these action, NOT things I don’t like and therefore won’t do. Chris has been there to keep pushing to take of business building activities that I would normally sweep under the rug!
Chris’s outside perspective on my particular industry and creativity has been helpful in creating new and fun ways to stay in touch with my clients. My business has shown an improvement since working with Chris, and that is the bottom line for me, but more than that I have learned to better understand what needs to be done, what I will do, and how to delegate the things I dislike and won’t do.

I have always resisted coaching until I heard Chris’s strength based approach and thought I am willing to give this a try. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses but learning to develop what I am good at and enjoy rather than focusing on my fixing what I’m not good at and don’t like allowed me to work from a very positive perspective and was a great experience. If your looking for a coach to develop your talent rather than beat you up for not doing what you already know you are not doing… most likely because it’s not one of your strengths and you resist it at all cost… then Chris is a perfect choice.

It’s been a little over a year since I finished my productivity sessions with Chris Watz and I can honestly say it’s the best money I’ve ever spent. The numerous benefits his coaching sessions provided include increased satisfaction in my personal life and work environment, improved focus on those aspects of my life that provide the most benefit, and a deeper appreciation of what’s truly important for successful living.
When I first started working with Chris, I felt like a top spinning amid too many life choices, all of which were obtainable but none of which felt like the right fit.
