Women’s Health Care At Frost St AMC

Please avoid this clinic. All the other reviews have valid points. It seems they take more patients they can accommodate… Front staff is not welcoming. Taking care of your health shouldn’t be such a gruesome experience.

Wait an hour, see a completely distracted doctor for 5 minutes, have to call EVERY SINGLE MONTH because they screw up your prescription. No, thank you, never again. I hope they care about their OB patients because they definitely can’t stand you if you’re not pregnant.
Update: based on the fact that they will NOT send my correct birth control prescription, I have to conclude that they are opposed to birth control and are not open about that. They are deliberately preventing me from getting my BC.

I originally had an appointment with Suzanne, the nurse practitioner, but it was rescheduled to be with Dr. Reagan as Suzanne had a medical emergency. I was a little uneasy of this because there was a number of reviews advising to avoid Dr. Reagan.
I went in for a pap smear and to get birth control, and was super nervous as I had never had a pap smear before.
Dr. Reagan totally put me at ease and listened to everything I had to say! She was nice, quick and thorough. I do not understand why people say she has poor bedside manners or that she is «cold.» She even came in the room to meet me and talk with me before I got undressed. She was easy to talk to (even for a nervous first timer) and warm.
I have no complaints at all and could not ask for an easier first experience at the gynecologist!

Specifically for Dr. Reagan only, not other staff.
My experience with Sharp in the past has always been an excellent one. So it was surprising to have such a disappointing experience. I went into discuss options for fibroid tumors that I had a long history of. I was assigned to Dr. Reagan because Dr. McNally (who i was referred to) was not accepting new patients. Dr. Reagan first and foremost has just very poor bedside manner in general. Very short and curt. I also apparently had to do my own research and make a list of questions to get any information. Our visits consisted of few words unless I asked a question. No offering or advice of information whatsoever. I had to ask about and for anything. I ended up deciding on an hysterectomy. After my surgery, I had to ask multiple times for a stronger pain medication because what she had ordered wasn’t working. I sat in pain at a 10 for over an hour because the nurses had nothing ordered from her. She came in the following day for 2 mins and said hardly anything. I received more advice from the nurses than anyone thankfully, though they were at the will of Dr. Reagan. I just had my first post-​op appt. to where the only thing she said was «looks good» — again, no advice on what to do and not to do, no helpful information on what’s normal etc. I’ve never been in a position where I had to inform myself of what care I should receive and actually have to relay it to the dr. or there would be no information or advice given whatsoever.

First off theres a middle age MA that works with Suzanne the NP… OMG! so rude I took my daughter with me and she seemed annoyed that I brought her. I mean I also work for a doctors office but I will never be rude to patients. I changed offices because I want to have my son at Mary Birch and my medical records werent transfered on time and she told me «well idk why they scheduled you without MR». And Dr. Reagan gets two thumbs down in my book shes so blunt she asked how I was doing and I told her my back was killing me with some mild cramps and all she F!%#ing told me was «I can only sympathize with you“what the heck is that? I spent more time waiting for her then my actual consultation. OH! and before she began the first thing she did was check what kind of insurance I had, Ive never felt so bad and degraded in my life. So I now see Dr. Binno, shes great and her MA’s are nice too.

Dr. Brahmbatt is my doctor and I’m very happy with her. She’s very friendly, professional and easy to talk to. I feel that she actually cares about her patients and you are not just a number.
Unlike other reviewers, I have never had a problem with the office staff and they have always been pleasant.
The only con is that you have to pay $ 3 for parking, however I believe the services are worth it.

I don’t normally write doctor reviews, but I felt I HAD to after first coming here to READ reviews — specifically of Dr. Reagan — and specifically before my appointment with her. After reading the reviews, I expected her to be a frosty, hurried, impersonal doctor, but I booked her anyway, because she is covered by my plan. AND because she has impeccable credentials: board certified, double residencies, named «San Diego Magazine Top Doctor», AND the fact that she does research.
Boy was I surprised by her warmth and the amount of time she spent with me, answering questions, doing the exam. I don’t care about her bedside manner, I care that she’s been at the forefront of women’s health for 30 years, and that she’s a respected research physician who is constantly working on women’s cancer issues. That is what was important to me. The fact that she was straightforward, accessible — and even a little bit warm — was all just gravy.
Who cares if the waiting area doesn’t look like a La Jolla plastic surgeon’s; there are some real scientists practicing medicine here!

It REALLY takes something for me to write a negative review, this office is SO bad I wish I could rate it NO stars. I will save you the story on the continuously rude service, the skill and precision the front desk has to mess simple details up from in office appointments or appointments for mammograms at other offices to things as simple as insurance information and my name! 3 days to get a time sensitive prescription called in, only to be told on the third day (30 minutes before leaving town on a trip I communicated politely on day one I would be leaving for, and 4 phone call check ins to the office and pharmacy) if I wanted it that day I would have to go by the office to pick it up and take it to get filled myself.
Save yourself the frustration, upset, and run around this office provides (good luck getting even a question answered with out a «return call» hours, sometimes days later). This truly is a shame because Dr. Cerrone is absolutely amazing!!! If your front office improved even 50% I’d stick around because YOU are that good, unfortunately I won’t because THEY are that bad.

This clinic is amazing! All of the staff was very professional and welcoming. I really appreciate the way they made me feel comfortable about my doctors visit.

As I read the reviews below, I find myself agreeing with most of what is mentioned below:
–yes the front desk girls are rude and could care less

–the kicker was when they asked me to pay my deductible for having my baby 4 months before my baby was due. when I asked why I needed to pay so early they said it was because some of their other patients don’t pay, so they are collecting it in advance. I have no problem paying you the money that is owed, but it really made me think about the kind of office I was dealing with.
–Dr Husky and Dr McNally are awesome. they are they only reasons I consider going to this office again
–AVOID DR Regan like the plague!!! she is not nice, has no bedside manners. Maybe this is a little selfish but I thought that Dr Regan would be a little excited for me when I found out I was pregnant (I was really excited!) but nope, I was just another pregnant lady.

I was disappointed with my appointment Dr. Rovena Reagan at Women’s Healthcare at Frost Street.
I went to see her in regard to some menopause symptoms I was experiencing. I specifically chose her because she was a woman in my age-​range who might have some special insights or, at least, sensitivity, toward my symptoms. I spent a lot of time putting together my blood test results and preparing a list of symptoms for her.
When I arrived in her office, she let me talk for just a moment. Then she said, «Let me make copies and review your blood tests.» A minute later she was back, but made no mention of my symptoms and blood test results. Instead, she asked me if I would like to get a pap smear and participate in a clinical study that she was performing.
The rest of the visit involved her standing over me, rushing me to sign a stack of agreement papers which would allow her to use the results of my pap smear for the clinical study. She assured me over and over that my name and other identifying personal information would not be released.
I know enough, after three years of law school, not to sign my name without full review of documents. Despite her hovering over me, I read though the documents. In black and white, throughout those documents, it stated that no guarantee existed regarding release of personal information.
I told her I was not interested in participating in her clinical study. I said, «That is not the reason I came here today.» I asked to discuss my blood test and symptoms paperwork. She had left them on the copy machine.
She went to retrieve my paperwork from the copy machine. When she returned, she said, as I wasn’t going to participate in her study, maybe I should wait to get a pap smear done another day. That seemed to be the end of the visit in her mind.
I was so aghast at her behavior, I actually started crying, which is something I don’t easily do. I was so angry that I had spent time and money to receive a professional opinion about my medical symptoms, and instead got no attention whatsoever.
The hallmark of a professional, in my mind, is someone who puts the needs of their clients/​patients, above her own. It’s a code of ethics for attorneys, as well as doctors. Dr. Reagan had no interest in my concerns, but rather had her own self-​serving agenda (as I am well aware that doctors are compensated for clinical study participation).
It unnerved me that her office required me to sign a paper stating that I agreed to pay $ 25 if I didn’t cancel my appointment with 24-​hours beforehand, yet I had no recourse for taking time out of my profession to visit with an uninterested, inattentive doctor.
I believe that the misinformation regarding clinical-​study confidentiality was probably relayed to other patients besides me. Given that many people automatically trust a doctor, they might have signed the documents without fully reading them. All participants should be informed as to the possibility that personally identifiable information may be attached to their pap smear results and, further, that this information might be relayed to medical, as well as non-​medical, personnel involved in the clinical study. If such is not done, the results of her research should be null and void.
As for my menopause issues, my girlfriends seem to know more about the topic than Rovena Reagan does.

I’ve now been two Women’s Heath Care at Frost Street twice now (each time for my annual exam). It really is a great place
SOME of the front desk staff certainly are not very warm but they are always really helpful when checking in and scheduling. And honestly, this place is SO busy. The phone is constantly ringing, people are checking in and out, etc… they still manage to get everyone in and out. Both times I waited about 10 minutes (after completing paperwork and being on-​time). The lady who helped me on my last appt was SO friendly and nice… so it really isn’t everyone.
My main reason for writing the review is because of Dr. Brahmbhatt. She is both knowledgeable and kind, which really helped me get comfortable during my appointment. She took the time to make sure that 1) I told her everything I needed and 2) make sure I knew that she was «only a phone call away» (her words, not mine). Both times, I walked away really feeling confident in my care and my health. She comes HIGHLY recommended.
Overall, if you can see past SOME (not all) not-​so-​warm receptionists, it really is a nice place. And seriously… Dr. Brahmbhatt is an asset to healthcare.

I am not sure where to start. I moved to San Diego a little over 2 years ago. I came here with some serious womens issues going on and needed a doctor Asap. Not knowing anyone I went to Google. This place popped up, it was close, took my insurance and so I called. I couldnt get an appointment for 7 weeks. I was told that was normal in California so I waited. I went to my first appointment with a smile on my face. What I got in return from the front desk people, when they stopped all of their personal conversations, was dirty looks and an instant request for my copay. I was in this office no less than 10 times in the last 2 years and it was always the same with these girls. They are rude and nasty. They also love to talk about people sitting in the waiting room. They are simply awful.
My next issue, with the exception of the girl that usually works with Dr Binno, at least she did most of the times I was there is the nurses are not nice either. One day I was there and the door flies open and there is this blonde older lady calling my name with the meanest look on her face. I remember saying out loud… Oh great, now I get nurse Ratchet.
On 2 occasions I got the nurse practitioner. I had her my first initial visit. We went threw all of my symptoms where she told me it could all just be an STD? WTH? It turned out to be fibroid tumors, but we found that out after she ran over STD test she could get her hands on. My second occasion with her was after a surgery I had with Dr Binno. A week after surgery the hospital called to see how I was. I told them my symptoms and was told to get to my doctor immediately because I had an infection. My doctor was out of town for 6 weeks so I got the nurse practitioner. I told her the hospital told me to come because I likely had an infection from surgery. She then asked me if I actually had an STD. That was the beginning of the end at this office.
Dr Binno was my doctor threw this whole experience. She is an excellent surgeon. That being said, she does not have a good bedside manner at all. On my last visit with her I had a complete melt down and she turned her chair to me and told me she could refer me to a therapist.(THANKS FOR LISTENING) You never got more than 5 minutes of her time and her answer to everything is to take Motrin. I had 2 surgeries with her.
On my first initial visit to this office my first request was that I wanted a hysterectomy. After tests and everything else Dr Binno thought that was a little extreme. So here I sit 2 years after this started and guess what… all of my problems have started again. The fibroid tumors are back and I get to endure a
3^rd surgery and have a hysterectomy. Thankfully I have found a place with people that care and will listen. The front end staff smile and are happy to help you.
Smaller issues I had here, my first surgery never got scheduled until a month later because they lost my file. They only figured it out after I called. Every test result that I waited to hear back on was never followed up on. I always had to call and ask and then they were annoyed I was calling. It is just not a good place at all. You are just another insurance payment to them and that is it.
The last bad thing that happened there was just yesterday 4÷1÷2014. I called to see why my records had not been sent to my new doctors office. They were requested over a week ago. JACKIE answered the phone in records. When she answered I asked if this was the records department. She said this is JACKIE. I said yes, but are you in records. She then repeated this is JACKIE and started laughing. She Knew she was being rude and difficult. More horrible customer service
A little advice for Womens Health Care at Frost Street, fire your office manager. He or she is obviously not doing their job. If I read these reviews, a lot of them about the front staff, I would be horrified. The staff never changed the whole time I was there so this treatment of people is excepted there.

I started to come here when I found out I was pregnant, I looked it up by who my insurance covered and thought I would give them a try.
Ladies please trust me you don’t want to go to this office. My gut told me this but i never listened so I continued to be seen by the Dr. Bhino and nurses here. First thing to think about is YOUR DR IS NOT GUARANTEED TO BE ON DUTY WHEN YOU DELIVER. I had a completely different group Dr deliver our daughter. If that doesn’t seem to bother you then please read on.
A list of reasons why I recommend you look further:
1. Front staff is ALWAYS rude, i thought maybe she’s just having a bad day. Nope Every visit same treatment, it was like I was bothering them by checking in, showing them my insurance, oh and when they ask for payments… RUDE!
2. My whole pregnancy I saw Dr. Bhino twice!!! I had to tell her what was going on with my pregnancy then she would act like she remembered.
3. They send you somewhere else for ultrasounds– HUGE issue for me. Its time consuming to make a whole other appt and go somewhere else. Not to mention they make you wait an hour + at every ultrasound! Wasnt happy with this at all.
4. Parking is $ 3 every visit not a huge deal but not a plus to this place.
5. I really felt like a number to the nurses and Drs they all seemed rushed. I was just a generic pregnancy to them in and out no real questions asked.
I hope this review helps you decide. I tried to keep it short and to the point or i could have given more examples but i think this should be enough.

I’m conflicted between a 2 star or 3 star review only because the phone reception sucks!!! That alone made me almost seek out another OBGYN office but I needed to get my pap over & done with so I just sucked it up. Well when I called to schedule my appt they wanted to send me some new pt paperwork to fill out. I gave the gal my email addy. 3 days had passed & no email from them. I called back and as soon as you call btw they immediately put u on hold. Uhhhh, When the gal gets back on I gave her my name & told her I never recd any paperwork from them. She indignantly replies she had emailed them to me. We verify my email & duhhh it’s incorrect! So I dont know if they’re deaf there or what but after giving her my email addy like 5 times she keeps repeating it back w/​an «A» & I keep telling her there’s no «A» & best believe I phonetically spelled it out for her 5 times.
I did receive the email finally. Day of the appt wasnt too bad. Front desk gal was nice. Did not have to wait too long. Nurse called me in to take my weight & the basics. Very sweet gal. Then I saw the NP Susan Reyago and she performed the pap & breast exam. We talked about other stuff & she was just very sweet. I was pleasantly surprised by how well that went. Based on my experience w/​the nurse & NP I would rate these ladies 5 stars! Too bad the phone reception is that miserable because later that day I had to call the office back & the deaf girl receptionist kept calling me Dean.

I wish I listened to the reviews before I went here! Front desk was whatever they don’t make you feel welcome at all. Dr Binno came in for under 5 minutes! Mind you this was my FIRST appt there. I had so many questions and I wanted a blood test to check my hormones. I didn’t even get a chance to ask these questions because I was so rushed. The «breast exam» was unbelievable. Two short presses. Like I really trust that. Then I was offered a new birth control and she said «this is probably too expensive for you so here’s two free months then we can try the generic form»
Well ok I came in to take a blood test and wanted to determine what is best rather than putting various things in my body every couple months if you spent more than 5 min with your patient you would know this!!!
I left disappointed. Then I get a phone call a week later at 4:59. I missed it. Got a voicemail saying «this is womens health care center please call me back» I thought something was wrong so I called back at 5:01 and the lady who answered said sorry this is just the call center the front desk ladies are closed for the day. I said I just got a message two minutes ago and she said they close on the dot.
I mean are you freakin joking? You are going to call your patient ONE minute before you close??? You are Ridiculous alethia.
Making your patient wait in anxiety all night. Turns out everything was ok.
You’re dealing with womens HEALTH. I would love attentive doctors and staff. Can’t imagine going here if I was pregnant!
Finding a new place

After going to an urgent care clinic for pelvic and back pain and not finding answers, I decided to go to WHC. I have been going to this location for yearly physicals for the past two years.
Despite not having problems in the past, yesterday’s experience was not at all pleasant. Since the office worked me in the day I called, I was scheduled to see Dr. Reagan. Upon entering the room, she asked me if I had taken anything for the pain. I said ‘no’ and then she said to me, «Well, the pain must not be that bad then.» Um… RUDE! I was appalled! Clearly if the pain weren’t bad enough, I wouldn’t be there in the first place, especially after going to an urgent care clinic the day before. She was indifferent and she acted as if I were an inconvenience. No one wants to deal with a doctor like that, especially when they’re feeling unwell.
If you do go to this location, I would suggest seeing Dr. Brahmbhatt. She is such a sweet doctor and she seems to genuinely care about her patients.

Don’t do it!
I was in my 2^nd trimester when I transferred care to WHC and by the time I realized how unimpressive they were it was too late to find yet another doctor. This was my first pregnancy so I had high expectations for my care, especially since I loved my midwife, I just didn’t agree with the practice of how my L&D would be handled. Enter the Sharp referral service who gave me Dr. Brahmbhatt and Dr. Binno as choices.
At my very first appointment they told me I had to pay $ 421.75 up front as a pre delivery deposit and I had 3 weeks to pay it — are you freaking kidding me?! «Welcome to WHC, not only will you not necessarily see your own doctor at each appointment, nor will we guarantee that the doctor you have been making all your prenatal decisions with will deliver your baby, but SURPRISE! you get to come up with a big old chunk of money before we will proceed with caring for you and your baby’s health and welfare».
Since I had my initial appointments, labs, and ultrasounds at another provider’s office the first appointment was very quick. They didn’t even have my file from my previous provider. Personally I would have thought that my doctor would have read my file and seen that all my info was missing — silly me for thinking a doctor would read my file BEFORE my appointment!
My prenatal care was relatively lackluster and uneventful. I definitely felt like I was not getting my share of attention for the money I was paying out! I did have an issue with the ultrasound tech being rude to me but it was taken care of. My husband thought our doc was good enough, but I truly desired more — more information, more attention, more communication. Granted she asked me if I had any questions at the end of each appointment, I was rarely told what to expect at my next appointment or things to start thinking about. My doctor never really asked me about my expectations for L&D or if I had a birth plan. I did ask a question one time and I felt like she scoffed at my question and was actually irritated by how I asked her.
I had to see a different doc one day cause mine was unavailable and a few weeks later I get a bill for a gonorrhea test — scared the living day lights out of me — so I ask our doc at the next appointment why we were charged for a test never performed, and she told us the other doc had run the test. I told her no sample was taken and she said they did it through urine collection. I asked why it was performed 6 months into my pregnancy since it was negative at the pap done at the beginning of my pregnancy and she said we were overdue for the test. No one told us the test was performed and that it was SOP nor were we told the results — shady ass shit if you ask me!
It is standard to have a strep B culture 5 weeks before your due date but it is only good for 5 weeks, so I had the culture, it was negative, but I went 11 days past my due date. At my appointment 7 days past my due date nothing was said and I’d forgotten, but I got a call the next day saying I needed to come in immediately for the test because the doctor noticed I was past the 5 weeks when she was reviewing my chart AFTER my appointment the day before. Let me get this straight — you didn’t do your job so now I have to haul my extremely pregnant ass up there again and pay another $ 3 for parking?
I had a small balance on my account, so I made a payment over the phone 2 days before the appointment. When I got there one of the front desk girls said, «you owe us $ 64, are you going to pay today?» and I told her I had made a payment 2 days before and made arrangements with billing to pay the balance 2 weeks later. So I sat back down in the waiting area only to be called up to the desk by another lady who then said, «You owe us a payment today or you can’t see the doctor» — seriously, you’re going to tell a 41 week pregnant woman you are going to refuse her care because she owes a little bit of money and arrangements have already been made? Big mistake bitch! She told me I needed to make the payment within a week, and I told her we were scheduled to be induced in 4 days and I was planning to make a payment after that. She said, «Are you going to remember to call your payment in?» Seriously bitch, I’m past due and going to be in the hospital after pushing a baby out of my lady bits and you’re sweating me about money when it’s already been taken care of? She’s lucky there was a desk between us cause I would have belly checked her ass into the wall!
Point being the office staff is rude and inconsiderate, the doctors are clearly over worked or they’d probably spend more time taking care of you, the billing department is a bit disorganized and no pregnant woman should ever be made to feel like some low life scum bag who doesn’t pay their bills and to top it all off you have to pay $ 3 for parking every single time you go there (cause you’re not paying enough for the health «care»

I was initially being seen here during my first trimester. But, now, I’ve transferred to UCSD. Anyway, when I was seen here, there was almost always a wait. There was a wait for your name to be called, and then another wait for someone to come into the examination room. The front desk girls are somewhat welcoming. It just depends on who your’e dealing with.
I was seen here several times, and I only met with a doctor ONCE (Dr. Reagan). It’s difficult to schedule appointments with the doctors because they book up fast. Try to avoid Dr. Reagan if you can. She was very indifferent and didn’t care to build a rapport.
There was one week during my pregnancy when I was experiencing extreme abdominal pain. I have a very high tolerance for pain, but the pain was so bad I thought my appendix or something had ruptured. I called the office and they said that Dr. Reagan was on call, so she would be calling me back. I dreaded hearing that it was her that was on call. She called me back and was really short with me. She just said it’s normal, and to take medication for constipation. I could tell she didn’t want to be bothered with my phone call. She wasn’t comforting at all.
Other than Dr. Reagan, the nurse practitioner, Suzanne is really nice. There’s a medical assistant, I think she’s Filipino mixed, who’s also really nice. She was sad to hear that I was leaving the Women’s Health Center.
Parking: $ 3.00 flat rate. Parking spots are really tight.
Insurance: they do NOT accept HMO.

Came up to the Women’s Health Care to try and get in a medical study group, so I can only Unilocal from the perspective of someone coming in just a few times. But I got the impression that they give fine health care services here. I saw lots of moms-​to-​be in various stages of pregnancy. I also saw new moms and dads hauling in newborns. You cannot miss these folks since they have a look of sheer exhaustion written all over their faces.
The offices are on the Third Floor and you have to pay to park in their parking lot ($ 3 /​per hr.) but the office does validate.) I dealt with the clinical research coordinator Gloria and Dr. Regan. Both were very nice. I also noticed a specialty area where those poor souls who can’t seem to get knocked up come for in-​vitro assistance.
Good Catholic that I think I am, I had both my kids at Mercy Hospital, but the Women’s Health Care at Frost Street seems like a great spot to come for expert women’s health issues. 1 Unilocal STAR deducted for lack of disabled parking near the office.
