Cute soap shop located in Old Town.
They have yummy scented soaps and locations and other bath supplies.
I came here last night with my friend and wanted to buy this chocolate soufflé body butter that I had previously smelled here before and I loved that it smelled like chocolate pudding! It was $ 21.95 but all the containers had a broken seal. The employee called the owner and they gave me a 50% discount! Awesome!
This is a cute place to put together a gift for someone! They have a wide range of homemade and French soaps! Worth a visit when you’re in Old Town.

I would give this place 0 stars if possible. Went here over the weekend because of the farmers markets outside of this shop. The inside is nicely decorated and merchandised perfectly but the owner should highly consider firing the weekend staff. We were not greeted or asked once if we needed help. The 3 employees just sat on the counter tops with their phones, giggling. As a business owner myself, I would be furious at my employees who clearly lack respect & customer service. Sadly I wanted to purchased candles and a book but I was so frustrated I had to walk out. I do not recommend this store and will not be returning!

We always stop in whenever we hit Old Town as they are one of few places that carry The Naked Bee line of products, of which, I’m a big fan. I’ve also purchased fancy soaps, lotions, hair products, and various other speciality items and given as gifts for those who appreciate such things. The woman working tonight was super sweet and chatted with my husband while I shopped. It’s just a great little specialty shop and worth a visit if you’re in OT.

What a great shop they have really unique items from soap to lotions to really cool body scrubbers and so on. The lady working was very nice and knowledgeable I was looking for something special for my grandma and she is very sensitive to perfumes in soap and lotions, the lady at the store gave me suggestions on what would be good for her… I felt really taken care of I left with a smile on my face.

The selection of soaps is good but not great. I was under the impression that they make soap here. 95% of the inventory is bought from other companies. Too bad cause this location has south potential to be a locally crafted soap spot.
The sales person Brenda was a joy to talk to and has a great sense of humor.
I bought a soap making book and will hopefully be making my own soaps soon. There are no soap making supplies here besides a few essential oils and a (1)soap making kit.
I hope they get with the times. And become a local soap authority rather than a tourist shop.

Who thinks it’s ok to mention that, «if you were wearing a suit, I wouldn’t worry about showing you the price.» Not an exact quote, but when your girlfriend tells you about it, you’re equally outraged. Classless. Good luck with that rude employee and poor business practices.

I went into the store with my family. We’ve gone in before and they have some fun products and lotions. We asked about one of the products and the cashier was very disrespectful. Before answering questions about the product, she held out the price tag and said that if he was wearing a business suit, she wouldn’t have brought the price up first. I normally don’t write reviews, but this was very disrespectful. Someone shouldn’t be judged by what they wear or where they are from, and that’s not the way to keep customers. We were in there to potentially buy products, but we will not be going back. Very rude and extremely disappointing. No manners.

Smells amazing… even before you actually step inside. Didn’t buy anything, because I still have to pack to go home.

When did soap become chic? When you walk in the door of Ye Olde Soap Shop.
Our ancestors used lye… or just didn’t bathe. Poor bastards. If only they could get their hands on one of these lilac infused free range sequoia vanilla herb pomegranate soap bars with rose petals and hibiscus. Put one of these babies in your underwear drawer and Spring Freshness will replace whatever other smell is in there. Ladies oogle over this stuff.
If you need to shower or bathe, or if you have a special lady you want to impress with your lilac and rosemary thoughtfulness, this is your place. Pick a soap at random. You will come out smelling like body butter. When my Signora finds one of these in her stocking on Christmas Day, she will smell as good as she looks!

Went here to get some gifts for family visiting from the Bay Area. I figured I’d get them something from Old Town. It was either soap or a sombrero…
There’s tons of cool handmade soap that smell great, for a 1 inch bar is $ 8
If you go to the back of the store… they got some sensual stuff… think KY Jelly type stuff WINK WINK

Ye Olde Soap Shoppe has been around since I can remember, a staple in Old Town. Some of their soaps smell heavenly, but the problem is that there are so many other products out there… so if I am there… I will pick up one or two bars/​products. But I forget about this place because it really isn’t that memorable.

this store is fantastic! I LOVE home made soaps. It just makes all the difference in the world for my skin so its all I tend to use. My Sister and I came here after having dinner down the street and I went crazy with all the wonderful smells. I bought a bar of soap that I swear must be made out of cake batter because it looks and smells just like a huge chunk of cake! The girl at the register said all the soaps in the store are made by a family locally in the area, which is very cool when you can help out small business familys. I will come here again and this time I will stock up on the sprinkles cake soap.

I was quite pleased here. My family went to Old town for the first time on Smithsonian day. Got tired of the Whaley house and wasn’t too enthused so we decided to walk around the art market that was going on. Nearby on the corner was this little shop that you couldn’t help but breathe in all the lovely smells coming from inside. Being a fan of handmade soaps I had to look.
The life of all of the soap in the window had everyone in awe. You can buy one cut or the whole thing but for the price I opted for a cut and I took home and cut it in four pieces that were rather large.
Unfortunately I wanted to smell and touch everything buy I couldn’t because most of the stuff they sell is manufactured elsewhere and has Shea in it, which i am allergic too horribly. Because of this my options were limited and i had to stand back much of the time. I’m so glad I brought the benadryl though because I was able to find what I wanted in the window. Great designs for children and adults alike. Truly it is an art. I just wish they were cheaper because then i would buy every month from them.
Would love to come back here if they carried more handmand inhouse products with either olive or glycerin content rather than shea. Other than that parking is hard to find because the streets are very busy but definitely doable. Good location but if I hadn’t been there before only the smell would tell me where it was because the signs were hard to see. Definitely like this place. Will return.
Oatmeal and fruits or oils would be lovely to see if ever made here but without shea. I say go for aloe vera more because its wonderful.

A very nice shop of lovely items. There are soaps and lotions here I have not seen before. The staff are friendly and helpful; the owners have been in business a long time and know a lot about the soap and lotion business and even who they are buying from. I found a great new line of all natural products made locally in SD. A fun little visit in Old Town.

What a cute little shop right in the middle of Old Town! They offer a huge variety of handmade scented soaps with very beautiful designs as well as multiple branded soaps, lotions, shaving kits, etc.
You walk into the store and are greeted by the smell of cleanliness. It took us quite some time to pick out our favorite smells and designs, at which point we took the blocks of soap to the counter where the very helpful staff slices off a 1 inch piece for right around $ 8. It seems a bit expensive, but a 1 inch slice is quite large. I choose lavender and oatmeal, and it smells like heaven. So excited to try it out.

This is a great place to buy gifts… and. erm…soap. They sell an assortment of really cute soaps. They also have nice shave kits for men, bath salts, candles, etc. The woman who I think owns the place is super friendly. She gave me a bunch of free samples and was really helpful.

It’s really hard to go wrong with an upscale soap and beauty products store and this place definitely didn’t do any wrong, although their high prices came pretty close =/​at 8 dollars for a 1″ slice (give or take a buck).
They had a large selection of soaps that was home-​made but they also had a wide variety of other beauty products that were from other companies. From a brief look at their website, it doesn’t look like it’s related to the same place I saw in SD but I suppose it could be the same.
I bought a completely frivolous clear soap in a clear bag tied at the top with a fish in it. Completely not practical at all… and $ 6 to boot.

I get overwhelmed in soap stores! They have a good selection of soaps and different types of them too. Soaps can be quite expensive, but they had an awesome sale going on so I bought a lot. Service was excellent and the shop was busy. The only drawback is the lack of parking in Old Town.

After looking through the stock and selection, I came to the conclusion that over 75% of their product is not made in house. I’m assuming the log soap in the window was.
That said, I don’t really like glycerin soap, which all of the stuff in the window was. They also didn’t have anything with my favorite scent (sandalwood, which is pretty common at other soap shops), and it was overpriced as could be expected for old town.
I’ve seen a lot better soap shops in other touristy areas, this was just a bit lackluster, and that includes the disinterested host behind the register.

I am a big supporter of small business, heck, I have my own consulting business.
But this place is something else. I was in the store the other day, to buy my mother some gifts for mother’s day (since she makes soap.) I was the only 1 in the store and I had to wait for the lady to finish chatting with the owner. That’s ok, i had time, I could wait.
Then, I asked for the thing that I was looking for — Instead of telling me what it is or where I might be able to find it, the owner said 1 word and 1 word only — «NO!’ while not looking up & continue to water her flower pots. WTF?!
