Zook’s Earl Scheib Auto Body & Paint

I have a 1995 Jaguar Vanden Plas that had suffered considerable sun damage, and as a result the hood, trunk and roof of the car were badly in need of repainting. From a practical standpoint, the whole car needed to be painted. Although it is an older model, it has been well maintained, had no body damage, and is like a virtually new car inside. Cost to repaint was a factor, so I somewhat apprehensively chose Zook’s Earl Scheib, knowing that they were a «lower end» paint shop. Their manager, Daniel, was extremely helpful and accommodating.
When I picked up my finished car I was sort of holding my breath. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that, not only had they done an «OK» job, they had done a REALLY GOOD job! I was absolutely delighted with the result! The color match — which was a very specific Jaguar mix — was perfect! I was so pleased with how the car turned out, that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this shop to ANYONE in need of repainting a car. I am a very satisfied customer!

My Jeep got sideswiped right before I was looking to buy a new car so I brought it to Zook’s to get a quote. There was no way I could sell or trade my Jeep in with that damage. I know of Zook’s because they painted my wife’s car a few years ago and made a 1998 Lexus look 200% better.
Anyway, I got 2 other quotes and both were over DOUBLE what Zook’s quoted me. I chose Zook’s and they finished my car in way less time than anticipated and did a great job. There is no indication of any work being done which is exactly what you want. In other words, it was like my car never got hit.
If you want a quality job at a very affordable price with quick turnaround time, look no further. Zook’s will take good care of you.

Took my buddy’s truck in for a paint job and it needed some major body work done after being side swiped twice (both sides of the bed). They did an awesome job. I can’t even tell where the damage was after they repaired it. They detailed it after and the truck looks almost brand new. They even offer a military discount. Great job. Very satisfied customer here. I would highly recommend this place.

After thorough research, I decided to take my car to Zook’s Earl Schreib to get an estimate. The paint on the car had taken a beating by the sun and salty air, and included your typical dents and scrapes. It was definitely in need of some TLC. ZESA did a wonderful job in restoring back to new. The service was good, the price was good and the end result was excellent. The shine and attention to detail particularly around the edges of the chassis is outstanding.

Five stars just isn’t enough! The quality of the work, the price, the outstanding customer service was way beyond anything I expected. People who saw my truck before the work was done, can’t believe it’s the same truck! These guys are simply amazing! I couldn’t be happier! I highly, highly recommend Zooks!

This is the place if you’re looking to polish up an old ride. This is one of the most affordable paint places in San Diego, and their customer service is wonderful.
If you’re unsure on a specific color, they will let you see their large book of colors as well as show you what they have in the shop. I ended up choosing a sparkly metallic gray after seeing how nice it looked in the sunlight. The job takes a few days, depending on their demand. For less than $ 1000 (much less if you have a small car), you can really revamp your old clunker and get an exceptional warranty deal.
The paint job overall was great. There were a few minor imperfections, but the staff offered to fix them for free whenever I had time. They also offered to attach manufacturer emblems for free. It’s been about a year since I got the paint job, and nothing has peeled or faded.

We had our 2005 Toyota Matrix repainted by Zook’s Earl Scheib. Gabe was the manager who took great care to make sure our car turned out perfect. Our car was badly oxidized, the hood had numerous paint chips it was starting to rust. Well our car looks better than brand new!!! no sense to sell or trade in your old car just get new fresh paint job and save thousands. Very very happy customer… please ask for Gabe!

I have a 2006 Toyota whose original factory paint was not lasting, especially on the roof — so much so that I took it to a professional car wash and wax and they wouldn’t wax it because «It’s too close to rusting through!» Otherwise, the car is terrific and low mileage so I wanted to preserve it. I shopped around for a paint job and the estimates around the county ranged from 4,000 dollars (!!!) to 500. I chose this place, for 600, with an old woman’s trepidation. And it wasn’t quick. But that was not my goal — I want quality. And Gabriel better than kept his word, he included free minor dent repair and buffed out my headlights, too, which had been very yellowed. I now feel as if I have a car whose precision paint will protect its life and as a bonus it looks NEW!!!

Great service and my paint turned out beautifully. Definitely worth springing for the top of the line.

I wish I could give it zero stars! I went in today to get an «estimate» and the rude employees that «helped» me was so dismissive and all he did was walk up to my truck and without even looking at it he said I need their diamond package which is of course the most expensive.
I have a 2005 Tacoma and the clear coat on the driver’s side window and driver’s side cab window is peeling. Not the paint just the clear coat. He then proceeded to point out some non-​existent dings and said that I need the most expensive job or it won’t look right. I humored him then tried to get some other options. He just kept pushing the one job on me. I’m 99.99% sure it’s because I’m a woman and couldn’t possibly know what I want or anything about my truck.
I won’t be going back! If they treat cars anything like they treat customers, I know I won’t be happy.

Originally I had extremely bad experiences with this place as they were in the process of transitioning management.
After posting on here the new manager called me very quickly to apologize and remedy the problem. I dropped the car back off to the shop and it was repainted and repaired exactly how I wanted it within 2 days which was extremely helpful to me. The vehicle looks exactly like I wanted it to look, immaculate. They did a bang up job on the car and now I couldn’t be happier.

I was skeptical at first but Justin is a man of his word. He had my car better looking when I first bought it. Everywhere I go I get non stop compliments. I heard Justin is branching off to his own shop in El Cajon so look for him there.

My front bumper was an aweful mess when I brought it in. A prior owner had a protective decal placed on it and with my car being out in the 100+ degree heat and hot sun up in the central valley suffered some sort of chemical reaction between the glue and paint. It fused the decal to the bumper and turned essentially to rust in some areas. It was impossible to get the decal off. I had numerous quotes done prior to choosing Zooks which were absurdly high. Justin gave me a reasonable out the door quote and an approx 3day time frame to complete the job. It required sanding, priming and painting. I think it ended up being complete a day ahead of schedule. I wish i took a before picture of the bumper prior to the work being done to show a «before/​after» pic. It looks as good as new. Work was done in September 2014 and so far no issues.

Justin is the bomb! My car had suffered the ravages of the druggies and gang-​bangers at my apartment complex, who had, a few years back, taken to keying, scratching & etching epithets on my poor car. Also a fading gold color and a few well-​placed dents had the ride looking very ghetto It was time to cough up some money and get a new paint job.
I saw that Maaco was having a paint sale and called Earl Scheib up to see if they could match the price. Actually, this Zook’s location will match prices and they are very flexible with your schedule and making sure your car is done and ready on time.
If Justin tells you the car will be finished, it will be finished per his word. This section of Rosecrans is a little bit rough. Very near the trolley and right across the street from the County Nut House so I would advise dropping your car off and having an immediate ride to take you home. Still, the roaming looney tunes are not enough to detract from the 5 Unilocal STARS I am giving to this Earl Scheib store. Also, the used car dealers that line nearby Midway Drive are always taking their cars here to get a quickie touch-​up, so that bodes well for Zook’s too.
Having a good manager like Justin, who is organized & knows what he is doing is part of the appeal, as well as the affordable prices. Now, if the crackheads at my apartment would just quit scratching FAT on my car trunk, I should be just fine!

I brought in a Honda Civic to get both the front and back bumper’s repaired and a side panel as they had major scratches on them.
They did the work in 2 days, and only charged $ 350, and even buffed out other random scratches around the car without any extra charge.
I was expecting this to cost way more. The work looks great and they guarantee it for life!

I have a 20 year old car with paint that was faded and peeling. I finally decided to take it into a paint shop. After calling and driving around to a number of body/​paint shops in SD, I came across Zook’s. They offered me a much more reasonable price than I was getting anywhere else. After a couple of days, I got it back and was very happy with the shiny finish. They even fixed some dents for free!

First off, let me start by saying I RARELY review anything. With that said, if you ever need your car painted, hit this place up. JUSTIN is the man! My wife & I dropped her car off earlier this week to get it painted from factory silver, to BMW Alpine white. We were very specific on the color she wanted, and Justin went above and beyond by sending us a text with the paint swatches so we could see the color laid out next to a few other options.
After selecting exactly what we wanted, the team sprayed the vehicle. We also mentioned we wanted the spoiler removed if it wasn’t too much trouble. The guys not only removed the spoiler, but also filled in the holes all FREE OF CHARGE. They masked off the vehicle perfectly, so there was no overspray anywhere on the car, and the paint came out better than factory quality. Even without a wet sand & buff, the paint is soft, smooth and there is barely any orange peel to speak of. I was absolutely blown away. I see why this place has amazing reviews.
The price was very competitive especially considering we got the exact color we wanted, amazing quality, and a very fast turn around time. Keep up the good work Justin and tell your guys thank you so much! We are Definitely customers for life. I’ll be bringing another vehicle in shortly.

Several months ago justin an his team painted my 1996 Nissan pick up truck that was very oxidized an real cruddy looking. When I spoke to Justin he gave me a fair price an when I picked up my truck to my amazement it looked as if it had just come brand new outta the dealership the paint job was awesome. Highly recommended despite I had heard back in the day this is not the place to get ur car painted but under new management Justin an his team proved me wrong an did the best job ever. Everyone can’t believe how awesome my truck looks.

This is a solid Team. Justin, and the other guys here were very helpful. Very competitive pricing. They also finished my cars ahead of schedule:
Car 1: An older Mercedes brought in eight years ago. I got their lowest /​cheapest paint service. Repainted from bronze to silver. It turned out pretty decent. A few small imperfections… a few small runny and bubbling areas, but I was very happy for just a few hundred dollars. I’m bummed my cousin didn’t take very good care of the car when I gave it to her (the paint is now fading and cracking), but it has been over eight (8) years since they painted it.
Car 2: My truck: A late model Tacoma. Repainted from Silver to Gloss Black. This time I bought their top-​of-​the-​line package. They did an excellent job. Again, finished ahead of schedule. It looks like a new car. They also took out some small dents and handled all the deep scratches on the sides.
YES, go ahead and shop around; there are probably fifty automotive paint places in San Diego. I called over twenty of them… asked a lot of questions and took notes. This place’s website is (thankfully) straightforward also.
