2nd Generation Chimney Sweep

If I could give them negative stars I would.
The guy showed up late, the work was sub par, he left a mess in my apartment and on the street. The neighbors complained.
Had to get another chimney sweep to do the job and pay for both. When I tried to get him to call back, he refused and sent me threatening messagings.
As I said, sub par work.

Rick was punctual, professional, tidy, honest and expeditious. I am ever so pleased with his service. Highly recommend!

Rick replaced our rooftop damper, without installing a custom fit new one, as another 5-​star company had recommended, and he did it at half the price of the other company. We found him diligent, honest and knowledgeable. In fact, he told us that a recommendation made by the other company was unnecessary and certified that our fireplace was in «good usable condition.» Rain delayed his arrival at our home but we wouldn’t have wanted him on our roof in hazardous conditions. This is by far the worst company!!! DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!!!
I called them out to clean my Chimney. Took them 15 minutes to clean. i thought my money was worth a little more than that… any ways the guy told me that i had a rotted damper and his boss would be contacting me with a price. 3 days later still no call. So i called him. Left message and 2 days later he calls back and gives me a quote. I told him i need it completed before Thanksgiving and he promised he will get it done. after weeks of me chasing his sorry company I gave up. 3 months later and still nothing. Not that he would have got the job after anyways. SO PEOPLE!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! TRUST ME AnD STAY AWAY FOR YOUR SAKE!!!

If I could give negative stars I would.
First, 2^nd Generation and Gold Star are the SAME company. Not sure what type of scam they are rolling out here.
Second, Rick was 45 min late for first appointment. He forgot his cleaning equipment (really, you CLEAN chimneys for a living, weird). Ok, human error, I will give him another try. He said he would come back in an hour. He never came back! I called and left a vm. He never returned my call. Ok, so I call another company to set up cleaning: Gold Star chimney sweep (thinking it was another company, its not). He never returns my call. After the 4^th call and 5 days later, I get him live on the phone. I schedule an appointment. After 1.5 hours after scheduled time and he never shows up, I call him. He says «I got the addresses mixed up.» It was the same guy on the phone from 2^nd generation!
I fired him.
Third, when Rick came over the first time, he walked through my house with sooty shoes.
I took of 2 days of work and still have yet to get my chimney swept. Horrible company!

Really not too impressive. The first fellow arrived 2 and a half hours late for the chimney sweeping with no phone call or apology, and I was supposed to be the first job of the day. I kind of saw that coming, as I received 3 return phone calls based on my initial call to schedule — they just kept forgetting they’d called me. Also, the workman (who apparently has been fired since then) did damage to our exterior stairs and didn’t bother to mention it to me. Also couldn’t tell me if it was safe to use my fireplace or not. He actually asked me to tell him what I thought about it! He also forgot to bring the heat-​resistant fireplace paint I asked them to sell me.
Then, he said I needed mortar work done. I scheduled the appointment and asked the owner to come out himself since the job had gone poorly for the sweeping. He said he would. He did not. Instead, a different fellow showed up a full 26 hours early! (Yep, wrong day.) I kid you not. Luckily, my husband was home to let him in, but since I wasn’t there, he didn’t know what needed to be done and left without completing about 85% of the work (charged in full, though).
He came back 2 hours later, after I called the owner and ranted a bit, and the workman did the work I’d originally organized. The owner promised me he would come out to inspect the work. He never showed up. The workman also got mortar all over my front planter and plants. I’ll need to plant one or two new evergreen shrubs. He was nice though, and concerned about doing a thorough job. I think the mortar is probably fine, but I’m not 100% sure.
I would not recommend these folks. On the plus side, they were available to come out at this busy time of year and they got the work done.

I called Rick to schedule a chimney cleaning, he came out the next day — he did a great job and was really easy to work with. Highly recommended.

I called 2^nd Generation Chimney Sweep to come check when I thought my chimney cap had fallen off my roof. Within 1 hour, Rick came to my house and went up on my roof to check out the problem. Rick was extremely professional, and very honest. it turned out that there was no problem with my chimney at all. There was no charge for the service.
Ironically, the part had actually fallen off my next door neighbor’s roof. I rang her doorbell, gave her the part that had fallen off, and introduced her to rick. she then worked with him to repair her chimney.
In general, I would recommend 2^nd Generation due to the professionalism, knowledge, and sheer honesty. I would definitely call him again!
