The Irish Sweep

The company’s representative spent time with me before my scheduled appt, helping me to figure out and correct the problems with my chimney so that I was able to fix the chimney problem on my own and cancel my appt. The Irish Sweep is now the only chimney service I will ever call. I trust them completely and would happily recommend them to others!!!

Sally (Owner) and Tyler came out to our home and performed a thorough video/​visual inspection in December 2015. Our goal was to make sure that our fireplace was fit to burn in the Winter; we had never used it since we moved into our new home. Sally and her crew made a through inspection and gave us the confidence/​green light to enjoy our fireplace with our family. We highly recommend Sally and her team — they understand the risks associated with a fireplace and take the proper precautions to make certain safety is #1.

Sally is fantastic! She was very accommodating with scheduling even though she was incredibly busy, and did not charge me when my chimney was deemed unusable. She is very knowledgeable, and I really appreciate her help and friendliness!

I am very happy with their service and highly recommend them for all your chimney service needs. I’ve used them for inspection and for follow up to address a damaged damper (it was so old it wouldn’t open). The team Mario and Tyler came out and although scheduled to remove it since it was beyond repair, Mario was able to actually fix it! It took some muscle and adjustments but it’s opening and closing the way it should now! The guys were both super nice and professional and knowledgeable and made sure everything was clean and back in place. The same positive feedback goes for owner Sally and her admin Sarah too — very responsive to all communication! I will use their services again!

Starting with an inquiry email, a little back and forth about our situation, and then an in-​person meeting with Sally, I had a great experience with The Irish Sweep. Because our house is being lifted and will require major surgery to retain the wood fireplace, Sally gave me a good reference for someone who specializes in that sort of work and didn’t charge me for the brief visit. It was a great experience start to finish and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Irish Sweep to anyone.

Fantastic job cleaning and inspecting my fireplace. They saved me thousands of dollars with their knowledge and honesty after I was told by another company that I needed costly repairs up inside the chimney. Sally showed me the truth with her mobile camera. I am impressed and will use thIs company again!

Being the president of the Home Owners Association with 51 units can be exasperating when trying to find vendors to do certain types of work where the complex is a single building of three stories.
We brought in the Irish Sweep and they did 49 of 51 units over the dates of 10/​31/​2014 and the 10÷01−02÷2014. Frankly, they did a splendid job and were in and out of each unit in an expeditious manner, leaving the work areas cleaner than they found them. The two units they did not get to were not their fault, but was due to solely to issues that prevented the owners from being present to allow access to their units for the work to be done.
I found Sally and Mario extremely easy to work with and they were flexible enough to be able to deal with situations that required a change in their order of work without any undue fuss or complaints.
I deal with a lot of contractors, in just about every large-​building complex trade, on a daily basis, and frankly, The Irish Sweep was one of the best of the best I have worked with over the last 4 years or so.
Would I recommend them to anyone else? Absolutely! They work very well and are very adaptable to real-​time issues, dealing with them in a very professional and expeditious manner that is becoming a lot less common nowadays. As this is something that needs to be done every 5 years, if I have any say in the matter, they will also do the next cleaning on our complex as well.

Sally and Mario installed a gas insert and cleaned my dryer vent last month. They were on-​time and left everything cleaner than they found it. The price was a good value and I am feeling safe that my dryer is clean and safe. The gas insert is wonderful and I can’t wait for things to get cold so I can pick up the remote and turn on the fireplace from across the room. I have dealt with many businesses over the years and I really appreciate the customer service and trustworthiness of Sally and her staff.

I am writing because I am super impressed with Sally’s responsiveness and integrity. Another company came out to clean my chimney and ended up telling me it was «broken,» was a fire and earthquake hazard and I shouldn’t used it. untill replaced (and that would cost between $ 3,500 -$ 6,000). I called Irish Sweep to get a second opinion. She was soon to be leaving for a conference but didn’t want to leave me worrying about the chimney so she came by on a Saturday. She showed me that it wasn’t in fact broken and how it could be made to look broken, saving us a lot of money and hassle. She is clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. I will definitely be calling her for a cleaning.

Sally is A-​one in our book. She was able to come out and fix our chimney without us having to be there. She did a great job and the price was right.
We have used her twice and would not hesitate to call her again or recommend her to others!

I emailed on a Saturday night about taking advantage of their «summer cleaning special». I received a response back 5 minutes later with the convenient time that I requested.
On appointment day, the two person team, led by the Sally, arrived on time and proceeded to do a thorough and clean job. Sally was very knowledgeable and provided me a number of insights about my house.
Sally is pleasant, quirky, and easy to work with. I’ll by recommending.

Sally and crew was fast, efficient, and left the place how they found it. Moved all the toys, etc away from the chimney. did a good job protecting the soot from entering the living room.
A year later, when I called up to get a receipt (cuz I lost it). She send it the very next day.

I worked with Sally and she was amazing! I can’t say enough about how friendly, helpful and informative she was. She and her staff did a great job on my chimney’s and even did some minor repairs. I highly recommend them!

I’m not the kind of person that throws someone under the bus, BUT as for the work that was done and the money i paid and then had to pay someone else to fix the screw up… I will not use them ever again :(

Minus 2 stars — Service: They never showed up to either of the 2 appointments we booked with them. More than 3 weeks wasted.
Correction: Irish Sweep claims they called and left a message can celling one of the appointments… on the day of the appointment. I’m not convinced that’s stellar service.
I have never reached a human being on their phone line. Only an answering machine
Minus 1 star — Price: I searched craigslist, had a guy come by who inspected and cleaned the Stove+Chimney for ¹⁄₃ less than «The Irish Sweep.»
That process took only two days.
Free Advice: Don’t bother. I’m they do a passable job, but why put up with the rigmarole?

If there was a NO stars option, I would give this company NO stars!
Enzo had a very negative attitude, and complained about his work to his younger assistant during the chimney sweeping. Very unprofessional.
I called for a simple chimney sweep; and got talked into cleaning out my dryer vent. That sounded like a good idea, as I had not done that in the few years I owned this house and was promised this would make my dryer more efficient and avoid possible fires that can be caused by lint accumulation in the pipe. What a mistake!!!
Enzo proceeded to clean the dryer vent, dislodging the vent from the pipe that lead to the exterior of the house. Then he tried to tell me it was not his fault, that it had been that way for a long time! I told him this was not possible, as I regularly saw steam escaping from the dryer vent (located near my family room window). He was unable to reconnect the dryer vent and STILL CHARGED ME! After this experience, I no longer saw steam escaping when using the dryer, and now have an accumulation of lint in the crawl space under my house.
What a rip off! I now have to hire a plumber or handyman to reconnect the vent or else risk having critters under the house access my dryer exhaust.
Proceed with caution — I was very unhappy with the service.
Regarding the «owner’s comment»…the person who did my service said he was a partner… meaning «owner». If he is no longer with the company, I can understand why! I am still left with the problem that he created, and also had to pay for a service that was done poorly.

I found Sally through a BNI referal group and i needed to have my chimney cleaned, as I bought a new house. I made the appointment, got a confirmation call and she showed up on time. I was a littled worried about ash getting all over the place, but not even a speck od dust was found. even in the fireplace! She was fun to talk with, as she explained the techincal aspects of her work, I feel much confidence with her. I then decided to make a fire cause it was cold.
I filled up my house with smoke, and it was a real mess. I called Sally to tell her my house filled weith smoke. She popped over and showed me how to make a fire based on the size and shape of my fireplace. I am so thankful! Kudos Sally– you rock!!!

House remodeling and inspections can be a real b*tch.
The first inspection and estimate for work we obtained for our chimney was from Home Guard Incorporated (in Livermore and San Jose). The guy said it would cost $ 3,000 to fix our chimney but couldn’t even tell us what the problems were. Total sketch!
Unfortunately, our new realtor chose this company to do our inspections, but I was damned if I was going to pay for the repairs.
Enter «The Irish Sweep.»
We met Sally on another inspection for another house we almost purchased. Sally and her assistant thoroughly explained everything we needed to do and other things that could wait. When her estimate came in, it was very competitively priced. With our new house, I couldn’t wait to get Sally back in here and regret letting our realtor pick the jerks from Home Guard.
Sally and Mario arrived on time with all the needed equipment to inspect our chimney. Within 5 minutes, she told us our chimney stove was functioning properly. Within 20 minutes, she was on roof looking into the chimney and told me there were NO problems with our chimney stove, the flute or the lining. In fact, her exact words were «Let’s start a fire!»
With Sally, you can feel secure knowing that you will not be over charged or be saddled with unnecessary repairs. She’s been working on, repairing, instally and cleaning chimneys since the 80s. I wish I could give the Irish Sweep 10 stars for service and saving me thousands of dollars. She is simply, the best.

When I moved into my house it had two wood burning fireplaces — a traditional chimney and a metal stove like fireplace. I have no idea if they had ever been swept before.
Irish sweep (I believe it was Sally, the owner and a partner/​assistant) showed up to my home on time and with everything they needed. They cleaned out an immense amount of soot and other stuff from both chimneys, inspected both for safety and gave me great information about how to use my fireplaces safely and in a way that would prevent damage to the surrounding structures.
They were very efficient (two in only a matter of hours), friendly, helpful, and happy to answer questions and offer advice.
Most importantly — they left my house totally clean — sucking up errant dust and floating particles as they worked.
