Alan R Malouf, DDS

I’ve been seeing Dr Malouf for several years now. He is extremely attentive, informative and caring. Connie, one of his assistants, is very accommodating, always trying to fit me in as I travel every week and my schedule can be quite erratic. I also recommend the hygienists, as they are thorough, attentive and gentle. I like that everyone there seems to genuinely love what they do. My teeth have all kinds of issues and I am grateful to have Dr Malouf and his team as my dental team.

I recently made a change to Dr. Malouf as he came highly recommended from a friend. Best decision ever. His work far surpasses the previous dentist i was going to. They are not even in the same LEAGUE! He is by far the best dentist … hands down — honest, ethical, knowledgable not to mention an amazing one in a million temperament and personality! He is absolutely fabulous. There aren’t too many dentists in SF who have his attention to detail, knowledge and training. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND

With respect to leaving his practice before giving him the opportunity to address my concerns — ever since my first crown, I repeatedly shared health repercussions and was told it was just genetics. At my last appointment, I expressed that it was the mercury fillings. Dr. Malouf disagreed, but offered to replace the thousands of dollars of work he originally placed in my mouth with «white» fillings and porcelain, at my expense. Porcelain fixtures are made with aluminum, which is also toxic. Even worse, without proper equipment, drilling and removing amalgams releases the highest amounts of methyl mercury into the body and can trigger autoimmune disorders like Hashimotos, neurological diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and other illnesses… My body was already very sick and I could not risk staying.
I understand that we disagree, but do hope at some point Dr. Malouf will consider training with the growing number of dentists who practice toxic-​free dentistry like
. With his skills and the additional knowledge, he could help so many patients.

Dr. Malouf has been my dentist for more than 30 years! I am in my 70’s so it isn’t as if I haven’t had a number of dentists (having moved a lot and being constantly on the search for good dental care). He is the best ever. (And if I move again, I’ll fly back to the Bay Area. That’s how good he is!). He has all the gifts. He has incredible manual dexterity for whatever procedure– fillings, crowns, bondings, veneers, etc., so the appointment moves at a clip. His sense of color is that of a true artist — the matches are perfect. I have no pain, and minimal (of a moment) discomfort — feels like a pinch — when getting the novocaine. (Believe me, if I had pain, I would find someone else, sadly.) Alan has a great «chairside» manner. His staff is capable and competent, and have been with him a for a long time. He has a growing practice (think about it — you only grow a dental practice because you get positive referrals). He doesn’t take on more than he can handle and provides excellent referrals for oral surgeons. (I have had former dentists take on specialized work because they have the time and are happy to do the procedure and be paid for it. I personally would rather go to a specialist who does root canals, or extractions or whatever exclusively! And I’ll bet you would too, if you think about it.) Alan’s prices are what used to be called «UCR» — Usual, Customary, and Reasonable, i. e regular rates that are accepted by insurance companies. (That matters to me — I don’t have dental insurance, and cannot afford those who charge over market.) And here it comes, the Ultimate Test: I actually look forward to going to the dentist.

My Kaiser PCP recommended Dr. Malouf. He is a very caring, friendly and great dentist. I am usually anxious when receiving dental care and he put me at ease. I also like his staff. I really appreciate his receptionist, Connie, who can work easily and helpfully with someone who has a busy schedule. I highly recommend Dr. Malouf and his staff.

Best dentist ever. If he’s not your dentist please don’t smile in my direction. Malouf doesn’t mess around. No extra expenses, awesome service front to back of the house. My wife and I have been going to him for 15+ years. A+++++++++++

Dr. Malouf is an artist. His cosmetic works– true perfection. His bed side manners are gentle and caring. When numbing you with a shot you barely feel the needle. Not only is he great so his staff is amazing. His hygienist does an amazing job cleaning your teeth. Just from cleaning your teeth, your teeth will look noticeably whiter and brighter. I am trying to figure out if I was just bothering the staff and Dr. Malouf the day I was given treatment? This was several months ago but I felt the need to write something because you cannot believe all the 5 stars. I guess I will never know because I will not be returning. What happened was absolutely not what I hoped for or wanted. I was not consulted, I was ushered out the front door in disbelief and shock after a procedure that never should have taken place. Now, I have to go to another dentist to fix the costly procedure and start all over again. I just don’t believe anything Unilocal says anymore. I now have more pain, and more distrust of dentists.

He’s a true craftsman. Connie took a Polaroid of me in 2001, sort of their intake ritual at the time… just a smirk was all I was capable of … Now I smile :) the cleanings by all 3 hygienists are superb, relaxing with results you can see. There was a time in the mid-​aughts they would use a lil’ ‘mouth camera’ to show you a close-​up of your flossing fails by projecting the images to a mounted screen… Let’s just say this is a trend I’m glad has passed. I love Dr. Malouf and his terrific staff. He is so sincere and helpful. And to top that off, he is a perfectionist and does extraordinary work. I have never been disappointed and have been seeing him regularly for over five years. He is always aware of my personal financial constraints and helps find ways to accommodate my budget. Feel almost happy to go to the dentist! And his staff are out of this world… so caring and patient…

I had Zoom bleaching trays made and they are fantastic. Dr. Alan Malouf even decided to make a second upper mold as he wasn’t pleased with the result of the first one. Very impressive!
Alan Malouf is nothing but kind, knowledgeable and professional. He is methodical, explains everything thoroughly and he cares. Beautiful office, kind and helpful staff and you won’t go wrong choosing him as your dentist!

Best dentist/​dentist office ever! The hygienist will teach you to care for your teeth and give you the best cleaning you have ever had. These folks are serious, quality professionals. I am so impressed by the level of care and service here. I refer everyone I know to this dentist office. I am loyal to them and have been going here for years – thanks Dr. M!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Malouf (on the recommendation of a friend) for close to five years. He is smart, funny and makes you feel comfortable. I have a few spots with receding gum activity (fun!) and he and his dental hygienists are always very careful and attentive.
I would highly recommend him to anyone. Apparently, he also do great cosmetic work too but I haven’t had that service.

His staff has been with him for many years. He treats them well! It shows.
Doctor Malouf is kind and obsessed about good dental hygiene! He is very competent with all procedures. He corrected a crown that was done very badly by another dentist and I left his office pain free.
The dental hygienists are also competent and wonderful. They too have been with the doctor a long time.
Please take your medical care seriously, people. There are some bad doctors that practice medicine.
I trust this doctor and I trust his staff. I have been going to them for over 10 years and send my staff to him as well.

Each and every person that work with Dr Malouf (including himself) is amazing !!! I been a patient of his for over 10 years and everyone has gone above and beyond to take care of me. I am never disappointed when I walk to this office because I know that everything will turn out great. One of my favorites in his office is Jennifer (I think that’s her name) because she is always helping me improve in my flossing since it’s been the most difficult thing for me to do. Connie is also an angel because everytime I have to reschedule she takes care of everything for me within seconds. They are the best !!! You will not regret your visit to this office.

Im with every other 5 Star compliment written here. I was a procrastinator and had been, so I thought, tramatized by prior dentists, and Dr Malouf and his GREAT staff have put me at ease and I absolutely LOVE going to see him. My first visit I thought I’d get a manny peddy along with it. The office was so kind to me and I just cant say anything bad and cant say enough good. Go Go Go to them.

Not only the best dentist I have ever been to but the best medical professional I have ever dealt with.
Caring, warm, thorough.
He has helped me through gum problems, bad root canals and implant issues. I cannot tell you what shape my teeth would be in now if I had not stumbled upon his office. His referrals for other work are always dead on too.

Doc Malouf is awesome. He’s very careful, professional, and charismatic. He will keep checking in with you throughout the entire procedure to make sure you’re not experiencing discomfort. Best of all: YOU WON’T FEEL A THING. Really, that’s the one thing that counts.
He’s highly regarded in his field and is often pictured in the Nob Hill Gazette. I don’t know what the relevance of that last observation is, but I thought it necessary. I guess I like to know that my dentist has a life.
