Russell G Choy, DDS

I have been seeing Dr. Choy since 1989 or 1990 — almost his entire career. I was recommended by a co-​worker and it was the best recommendation that I’ve ever received. Dr. Choy is thorough, friendly, very intelligent and a great dentist — all traits that I appreciate. He is also very much up to date in his equipment, knowledge and skills. He always presents treatment options with pros and cons for each option. If you need a great dentist, look no further.

A few years ago, I went to a dentist in Embarcadero Center that told me I needed two root canals. At the time, this was an expense bordering on catastrophic for me — I could barely pay my rent, let alone thousands of dollars for dental work. In a tizzy, I called my pediatric dentist for a second opinion. Turned out I had two small cavities and the first dentist was a big liar.
Anyway, it occurred to me after that experience that simply picking the closest dentist to my office was not the best criteria, so I had my pediatric dentist refer me to someone. That someone was Dr. Choy.
Dr. Choy is the best and his staff is wonderful. I’m terrified of the dentist and he’s very understanding and patient about that. He explains everything he’s doing. I never feel like he’s lying to me because he illustrates exactly what he’s talking about with x-​rays and photos of the teeth in question. I am slowly recovering from my dentist trust issues thanks to him and his staff.

He’s my dentist and he’s cool. He doesn’t scare you. He tells you what needs to be done, what he’s going to do to you that day, and he explains things to you so that you’ll understand it better. I highly recommend you make him your dentist.
The appointments don’t take long like at other places. You’re in, you’re out just like that. I usually arrive at least 30 minutes early, hey I walk fast. He almost always sees me right away. How cool is that? No waiting time for me.
He has one receptionist and she’s really nice and easy to talk to. She has a great sense of humor too. He also has one assistant who’s also real nice.
