My boyfriend bought me a prenatal living social deal for Andrea fender for my birthday. So I couldn’t wait to get my first prenatal massage. Scheduling was pretty easy it was online and I was able to cancel and reschedule with no issues. At first, I was skeptical only because there was no human voice confirming the appointment but everything worked out fine. When I arrived I was buzzed in and followed the walkway to an elevator. It looked like apartments, but when I knocked on the door the room was super tiny with the table right in the center. Andrea greeted me right in and had me smell all the scents and lotions she was going to use on my body just in case I didn’t like any. She asked me a few more questions and then got to work. The massage itself was relaxing wish she would’ve worked more of my kinks out but in side lying position you can’t really use your elbows as well. Overall, I left feeling relaxed and refreshed and I smelt like peppermint. Head massage was amazing! Thanks Andrea!

Waking up Monday, I could tell my neck was in a bad way. Stiff, sore, with a headache to match. Probably from a weekend of pushing myself a bit too hard or not stretching quite enough.
Either way, I called Andrea who just happened to have an afternoon slot open that day. I opted for the 90 minutes because I knew I needed all the help I could get. She focused on my neck and shoulders for quite a bit of the session, with some work on my feet and back as well. She also gave me the recommendation to get new shoes — she’s probably right that my 2-​year-​old Converses aren’t cutting it anymore.
I left feeling better, though still a bit sore. She said that the full effects of the massage should clear the rest up later on. Sure enough, by the end of the day I was feeling SO much better!

I was highly displeased with my massage experience with Andrea Fender, and have been prompted to write a review upon being reminded of my bad experience when she used my email address to market her second business to me unsolicited.
I bought two massages with Andrea through a bloomspot deal. When I arrived for my first appointment, I was surprised by the tiny room. But I disrobed and prepared for my massage with high hopes. The massage turned out to be not so great, more of a light rub than what I expected or wanted. But the real pain and annoyance was that Andrea talked to me incessantly throughout the entire hour! I never initiated conversation or responded to her with more than a word or two. It should have been obvious that I was not interested in having a massage AND a conversation. But she kept at her monologue like we were having coffee together or something. Soon, it got even worse. Partway through, the one-​sided «conversation» turned into a sales pitch! Andrea has a second business doing some sort of consulting that she was trying to pitch to me as I was stuck naked on her massage table. Talk about a captive audience.
I left dissatisfied, so much so that I wrote off the idea of using the second massage that I had already paid for. That’s how much I didn’t want to go back. I had let it all go, not wanting to write a bad review, thinking maybe I could have been more assertive about not wanting to converse. But then, just today, I received an unsolicited email advertising her consulting company! Andrea has apparently taken her list of massage clients and just assumed it was okay to clog their inboxes with totally unrelated, unsolicited marketing for her other business (which, oddly enough, offers consultations about running small businesses).
I’m just flabbergasted. I guess the bottom line is I would never take a massage OR business advice from Andrea.

I took Andrea’s «Bring me my Jetpack» class. It completely changed my life for the better. I am a Pilates instructor that has been wanting to work for myself for years but I wasn’t sure how to go about making the switch. Andrea taught me what I needed to know to run a small business in today’s world. She gave me all the tools I needed so I don’t have to rely on others and I can be in complete control of my own business. I have never considered myself a computer person but I now realize how technology can help me and my business succeed. Andrea also gave me the confidence I need to be successful and not fail before even trying. If it wasn’t for Andrea I would still be working harder and not smarter. My friends, family, and clients have also noticed the change in me since Andrea’s class. People constantly tell me they are impressed by my professionalism… and it’s all thanks to Andrea.

I’ve been going to see Andrea for a couple years now, and quite honestly, I don’t see myself using any other practioner for massages. I’ve always enjoyed the sessions, and feel terrific afterwards. I find the hot stone massage very relaxing, and Andrea is very responsive as to ‘more pressure here’ or ‘a little harder here on my shoulder,’ things like that. She listens to what I say, which is good business since it translates into a comfortable massage session for me, and any other customers she sees. I’ve used some of her tips in reducing stress in my office setup and life, and everything she’s recommended has worked. I refer her to others, who assure me they’ve had the best massage of their lives! I like the choice of lotions — oils are icky, and I tend to be allergic to most of them — and the setup and calmness of the room is very soothing.

Extraordinary experience working with Andrea Fender. Her training was evident via the hands on work plus her commentary while working on me. Her manner was soothing – it was clear she loved her worked. I’ve been getting massages regularly for 20 years and this was extraordinary! I easily echo the woman before me: the combination of hot rock and deeptissue was remarkable. My shoulders have dropped to a normal resting level and I can’t wait to go back!
I was grateful for the previous reviewer who clearly wrote while the address is on 18^th, the entrance is about a third of the way down Treat.
I can’t imagine it getting any better – well I can. If it included a sauna, hot tub and cold pool with natural mineral water and cucumbers for my eyes – jazz in the back ground and a huge swimming pool on the roof with a nice sunbathing area.
I gave myself 10 extra minutes for parking and saw three open spaces within a block. I understand that is unusual.

My experience began, like others, with some confusion about getting in the building. I’m sure I read (and then promptly forgot) some info about how to get in beforehand. Anyway, the address is on 18^th St, but the door is around the corner and down a little ways on Treat St. So, just go around the corner to the main office, type in the Suite #, and you’ll get buzzed in.
The massage area is a small room/​suite in a large building, but it’s sufficient for the purpose, calm, and nicely decorated.
The massage itself was great. (I had the 90-​minute hot stone massage with body scrub deal from Bloomspot.) In other hot stone massages I’ve had, the stones were the main focus. Here, it was more of a standard deep tissue massage with the addition of stones. I actually thought the way the stones and heat were used to complement the deep tissue work was perfect. Thanks to my exercise routine, I’m frequently sore and some of my muscles have been tight for over a month. After the massage, all of those muscles felt loose. Andrea also gave me some advice about how to help prevent the tightness in the future, which was really nice of her.
One huge plus is you can schedule appointments online. In addition, if you are booking because of a coupon/​deal, all of them are built right into the booking site, so it was extremely easy. One thing I noticed was that the descriptions of all the various coupons people may have bought are much more enticing than the standard offerings (which is a very small list.)
Another bonus… it’s in the Mission, which is lacking in good massage-​type places.
Overall, great experience, and I’ll be back.

I looooved my massage!
I got a 90 min hot stone massage and scrub off Trubates for $ 85 and it was just what I needed. I had never had a hot stone massage and was in serious pain after starting a boot camp at the beginning of the week. The heat and massage was exactly what I needed. I limped into Andrea’s office and walked out almost pain free!
The heat of the stones was perfect. Andrea was very attentive to pressure, to hard etc, and kept talking to a minimum so I could blissfully enjoy myself. She was very aware of my soreness and did a great job moving the lactic acid out. When she was done I was in a dreamy state, unaware exactly where I was. «Five more minutes mom?» is what I wanted to say!
The scrub was a tad disappointing, it’s basically a loofah to invigorate the skin, not exfoliate. I kinda wish that if this was going to be done to be done at the beginning to I could have enjoyed the limp state the massage put me in a little longer. Regardless, it was a great massage, the room was clean and cozy. I loved the candles and waterfall in the room, and the sunlight streaming in. She’s done a great job making the space homey and quiet.
I’m sure I’ll book again from her soon, I have a new love — hot stone massage! I can’t believe it took me this long to finally try one! Give her a shot, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as well.

Andera is very nice and friendly. Professional? Not so much. She came to her «office» about 5 mins before my appt. Usually your suppose to arrive 5 – 15 mins early when you book a massage to fill out a form or sign a liability. So i arrived 10 mins earlier, however i was waiting outside ringing her doorbell. No answer. she then arrives right on the dot and walks with me, up the elevator, in the lobby i had to wait while she sets up my room which should be already done 30 mins before an appt.
During the massage she kept talking… the hot stones weren’t hot enough because she heated them when i arrived. I mean i still liked the massage, or should i say back rub –_​_​_​– but i mean who doesnt like a good back rub. She used lotion instead of oil which was disappointing. Some people may perfer it but i didn’t, i expected to get rubbed down in scented oils. I asked her why she used lotions instead of oils, she simply replied «it’s cheaper.» um. i guess lol The massage wasn’t deep enough for me, and i dont frequently recieve professional massages so my body is still sensitive. My knots on my neck and shoulders were still there, which is kinda funny because she asked me where my trouble areas were but did nothing for it.
Atmosphere was a little bright, but i went in the morning.
I’m not a business expert but if your going to run your own business you should be on top of your shit. Am i right?
Bottom line, not going back. Andera is a great person, sweet and nice, but not cut out to run a business.

My appointment was for just after sunset, so I got to enjoy the gorgeous view from the window of the city lights on the hills to the west. The office, full of delicate scents of flowers and massage oils, opened onto a lovely, well-​kept courtyard with the city rising away into the hills behind it.
As a practitioner, Andrea moved with the grace and confidence of someone who clearly knew her trade well. Too much physical activity and not enough stretching had brought my calves and feet to the point where it sometimes hurt even to walk. I was beginning to worry that I might be suffering from the early stages of plantar fasciitis. After hearing the problem, she went right to work adjusting and massaging the tendons and muscles. She also explained how the muscles connected to the myriad parts of the bones in the feet, and how tightness in each part could lead to my pain (as well as potential damage over time).
By the end of the appointment, not only was my soreness and pain gone (along with my concerns that I might need to start a physical therapy régime), but my legs, shoulders, back and arms were more relaxed than they had been all year.

Hot stones. Massage. Scrub. Amazing. Will definitely be back.

1^st review. My faith in proper and adequate customer service is dwindling. Where is it? If you are a small business, customer service is everything to develop a referral base and to prevent negative reviews like this one from happening.
I will tell it like it is. This my experience. Bought a deal of a day (mistake #1) for my gf to get a massage. Thought 75 bucks for 90 minutes wasn’t bad. Wind up being a nightmare to schedule with this lady. (do not buy those daily deals, because they receive the money already and they will put you in lower priority, 1: because you’re not really a paying client 2: you paid before your service and not after (got your money HAHA!)
1^st appointment we booked she no showed. She was sick, and didn’t bother calling her appointment to let her know. Professionalism. Normally this would mean look for a different therapist… but hey we paid for it already no going back now. So we called her and rescheduled (2 weeks out!) the only opening at 8pm. :/​
2^nd appointment she was 20 minutes late! (apparently a friend came from out of town) This is unacceptable. I hope the business owner reads this, if you can’t keep up with those deals don’t advertise it. If you realized you messed up what are you going to do make up for the poor service? In this case she did nothing.
A relaxing massage turned into a stressful nightmare that did more harm than good.
Thousands of Massage therapists out there that gets it right and understands service… unfortunately not Andrea.

I came to Andrea complaining about my hip, and she zeroed-​in on my knee — and made my whole leg feel better! Andrea explained all of the connections between my muscles and joints and how to help me make myself feel better and stop damaging myself with bad habits.
The office was calm and relaxing. The hot stone treatment was new to me and I was surprised to learn how good laying on rocks can feel. All the tension I store in my body was gone by the end of the hour and I felt like a floating blob of warmth (in the best possible way). Also: I smelled like chocolate!
I highly recommend Andrea’s expert services to anyone with muscles and bones.

I got the «home​run​.com» special of foot scrub, hot stones, neck massage — the works! It was great and Andrea is obviously a VERY highly skilled practitioner. She knows what spots need tension relief, which areas need something a bit stronger and she really, really knows the human body. Her treatment space is pleasant and a good location — Nob Hill — in a lovely older building.
The only quibble I had was — and i admit, I am a wimp about this stuff — she talked the entire session when I mostly just wanted to sink in and relax. Again, I tend not to say anything as I feel like maybe I’ll learn something — but coupled with the music it made the experience not as relaxing as it could have been.
Aside from that, Andrea is great and a very knowledgeable massage and bodywork expert.

Wow. I have all kinds of back issues left over from various smackdowns automotive and aquatic. Andrea is extremely knowledgeable about the body — is able to quickly ID my trouble spots, tell me their Latin names, and suggest stretches and other ways to stay out of trouble. Her bedside (tableside?) manner is friendly and relaxed, and she clearly loves her job.
But the best part, of course, is the massage itself. I’ve had several massages with her now, and each time she seemed to intuit exactly how much pressure I wanted and zeroed in on the sore spots where I’d like more focused attention. I have always left her table feeling 5 pounds lighter.
Today I went in for something special — her German Chocolate body scrub and a peppermint foot rub, and came out feeling smooth, relaxed, and smelling delicious. It was so scrumptious that I felt compelled to write to Unilocal about it!

When it comes to a profession or skills there are a few classifications that people and businesses can fall under. The hobbyists, the wage earners, and the Professional Artist. Andrea over at Mechanicalbionic is most definitely the last, combining a love of what she does and having the experience and talent at it to make for one of the most throughly enjoyable experiences.
Being greeted by a smiling face, in a warm, soft environment made me feel comfortable and warm right from the start. I started to relax before my treatment with her had even started.
As a chronic overachiever, I tend to hold onto my stress and it makes me a walking ball of tension in human form. I walked out of only an hour long, one of the shorter sessions, having movement back in parts of my legs and back that have been almost too painful or sore in the past to move too much. I felt amazing and more refreshed than I have been in years.
Her use of the various oils and the hot stone treatment could easily be likened to a painter using that special shade of mauve to achieve brilliance in the perfect image. It adds to the treatment in so many different ways. My treatment day was a rainy, cold day in SF, and within minutes of the stone application I was feeling magnificent.
So if you want a massage or a little back rub, ask a friend to do it for a couple minutes. If you want relief for your tension, a treatment of the highest quality, and someone with the artistic skill and passion to make YOU feel fantastic, go see Andrea at Mechanicalbionic.

I’m a professional circus performer and I really put my body through a lot. While I was prepping for my last show I was starting to feel a bit worn down. I came in and told her what was bothering me and she was quite attentive. Most masseuses I’ve dealt with eyes glaze over when words like vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, or lateral epicondytis come out of my mouth, but not Andrea.
She also had a good intuitive sense about the body. When I said my neck was bothering me but didn’t throw out specifics she zeroed in on it quite quickly and accurately.
I’ve never had experience with hot stones before, but I found them to be incredibly relaxing. The localized heat was a really nice touch and really made me feel relaxed for days.

I came to Andrea on a day when I had been the most sore in recent memory. See, the day before, I had gone running, 5 miles, on concrete when I hadn’t had much in the way of real exercise in months. So legs, back, and hips were all sore near to not moving status. And when I came down from Andrea’s lovely hands, I felt like I was walking on cotton candy clouds.
Maybe it was the hot stones (AWESOME) or maybe it was her pressure (I can take it and most masseuses can’t give it) but I felt completely transformed from worn out to awake, alive and healthy. And more importantly that lasted through the next few days. I think it wasn’t until Friday (massage on Sunday) I noticed tightness in my shoulders again. That’s like, a record.
And so I must say, I am very much a fan.

Andrea was simply great and has probably saved me hundreds of dollars — maybe even thousands. She evaluated my home office. She paid attention to the issues I have (shoulder pain). And the best part: she found simple adjustments using stuff in my office/​house! I haven’t yet spent any money on new «stuff» and already feeling better after just a few days of the new setup. I may yet end up buying a new mouse pad, but its a minor cost compared to the things I was considering (new keyboard tray, new chair, maybe a new desk).
