We do house calls!

We specialize in helping creative professionals, small businesses and home users with all their Mac needs: hardware repair, software issues, training, upgrades, equipment purchasing and data recovery.

We work with you onsite at your San Francisco Bay Area location and are able to provide remote, telephone and email support to you anywhere in the world.

We are all Mac users, and we know our tools. We also pride ourselves in taking complex issues and making them simple for you and on being educators and guides. Getting and keeping your equipment working and working for you, is what we aim to do.

History

Established in 2004.

Ruth Gumnit founded Art of Mac in 2007. A certified Apple technician since 2004, she was a partner in All Things Macintosh which served the Bay Area for more than a decade. Ruth has a long history in technology. She began her studies in digital electronics in 1981 and studied computer programming in the mid-1980’s, all the while earning her B.A. and M.F.A. in filmmaking.

Business Owner

Ruth began her studies in digital electronics in 1981 and studied computer programming in the mid-1980’s, all the while earning her B.A. and M.F.A. in filmmaking. Ruth is an award-​winning filmmaker whose work screens internationally. She has also taught filmmaker at the college level. Ruth’s interest in computers and filmmaking merged in the 1990’s as film editing on the computer became the industry standard. She was also an early adaptor of the internet, working in the the web industry from 1994 — 2004.

As with all Art of Mac technicians, Ruth takes pride in taking complex technical issues and making them easy to understand and use.
