Very disappointed with their cupcakes… I got their tiramisu cupcake. It was kind of dry and you could not taste any coffee in it! The original cupcake was super dry! :(I would not come back.

Cupcakes are lighter in weight compared to other shops, so I wonder whether or not the batter is from scratch but they do make fun flavors, and I think their red velvet is one of the best. It’s not a simple vanilla batter with red food coloring. It’s got cocoa flavor which is how it’s supposed to be, and texture is very fine. Close to perfect.

I had the strawberry cheesecake cupcake from a friend and OMG it was greeeeat! Very sweet with a bit of actual cheesecake inside. Cream cheese frosting is not always my favorite, but I thought this was sweet, smooth, and great.

They look pretty. But for a pricey cupcake, I want some good taste. They all just taste like plain sugar, lack real flavor. The salted Carmel and even the one with bacon, seem to have no salt, that’s the whole point! Yin and yang, salty sweet! Absent. Too many good sweets out there to compromise on these.

Ordered from postmates for a last minute work celebration and the cupcakes came very quickly and were perfect, everyone loved them. We tried the tiramisu, Oreo, classic, red velvet, and strawberry cheesecake cupcakes and all of them were delicious. Very moist with perfectly sweet icing. I would highly recommend them for your go to cupcake spot. Minus one star because I think Kara’s has a better selection of cakes.

Came in when I was doing some shopping in downtown! I was craving for something sweet and this was perfect! Workers there was super nice and super friendly! Told me what was their bestsellers which was the red velvet and strawberry cheesecake! So I went with their suggestion and let me tell you girl. The cupcake was so fluffy and moist! The cream cheese frosting wasn’t too sweet! Also the packaging was so cute! Definitely coming back when I have the chance!!! Yum!!!

2⁄5 Stars MAYBETHEWORKERSNEEDSOMECAKE I’ve been to this location a couple times and there were always at least two young girls working everytime. They never ever seem that happy working here. With large windows at the store front of the store, I always walk pass and take a peak of what is out and who is working. I always see the workers sloughing or looking so disgusted with being at work. With such a colorful and cute place, I would expect the workers to have a little more pep and a smile on. When I do walk into the small store, smiles roll up, but I already know it is fake. But fake would be good, if I didn’t notice through the window 5 seconds ago that they were frowning. The first time I tried Cako was from this location and of course I had many questions on what to get and what’s the best. The worker who helped me at that time was not very informative and just pointed and the different macaroons and cupcakes and said, «this is good, this ones good, this one too» I just got one of whatever she pointed at because there was so many options and I could tell she just wanted to serve me on move on to the next. Their macaroons and cupcakes were all delicious. I loved the vanilla and green tea macaroons the best. The cupcakes were also very delicious but I didn’t have a favorite… yet. I do need to go back a couple more times to try one that will make my taste buds jump! If the workers were a little more welcoming and happier, this place could have a better vibe and better rating.

I was in town for a minute and just wanted a quick cupcake. Cako hit the spot right on! The girl who helped me was very patient while I decided, and helped me make the best choice for me. I wanted something light so I got the Tiramisu cupcake. Light but still moist! I’ve been to other cupcake places and they’re always dry. I would definitely recommend going if you have a sweet tooth and want something small but worth it. The price is just right too. $ 3.50 for one cupcake.

This review is for the macarons only. My bf and I got the chocolate Nutella and salted caramel flavors. Both were so good! The shells were soft and the filling was rich & flavorful. It’s definitely one of the better macarons places I’ve tried in the Bay Area. Macarons are pricey in general so $ 2 a piece was okay. It was the perfect after lunch treat!

I just went here yesterday and I had an amazing experience here! I was already having a bad day, and coming here just made it good again. The store itself is more of a grab-and-go deal, so if you’re looking to sit down and eat a cupcake, you’ll have to find somewhere to chill after purchasing. However, this was not the case for me since I was intending on getting this to-go. The store is super clean looking though, and has a really nice atmosphere! My experience with the staff was also awesome! Unfortunately, I didn’t get their names. But the guy offered me a sample of the German chocolate(also really good, btw). The pricing for the cupcakes is a bit high, but that comes with the territory of being in «tourist country». I ended up buying four cupcakes: German chocolate, red velvet, strawberry cheesecake, and vanilla. All four of them had the same high quality that I like in a good cupcake: moist, not overbearing in sugar/flavor, and perfectly tops you off after a meal(or in this case, the perfect snack). Overall, I’m definitely coming back the next time I get a cupcake craving. TL;DR: Clean store, lovely staff, and expect to dish out more money than you think. However, your stomach and tastebuds will thank you for it.

It’s now open again after being closed for awhile. Really cute little shop with yummy treats. It’s expensive, but that’s expected in this area. Ambiance: I can’t speak to what it looked like before, but it’s nice and clean in here. No seating though, so expect to get your treats and eat them while shopping. Service: it wasn’t busy when we came in(5−6pm) and the young lady was helpful and ready to answer questions. Food: We tried a chocolate peanut butter cupcake. I can’t say this cupcake is the best I’ve had, but it was good! The cake was moist and chocolatey. The frosting was generous and not overly sweet. I think it’s a fun place to come with friends who are visitng, but too pricey for a regular drop-in.

EHHH Not the best by any means but not the worst. I have come a couple times now and always regret it but then I think back and say, well it wasn’t THATBAD. I do prefer Kara’s 100 times more than this place.

I was craving ice cream and my friends were Chipotle-ing, so I decided to try Cako. It was really meh. San Francisco ice cream is good, like really good, like wuhthaeff good. I had a feeling that Cako would not meet my artisanal ice cream refined palette, and well, I was right :( There is a creaminess to the ice cream but it’s just a bit off in flavor. I tried several flavors hoping to find a gem, but alas, no. Thank you to the girl for letting me sample. Uninspired but craving ice cream, I reluctantly settled on coffee which is usually my fave flavor anyway. But it lacked much flavor, and just left a waxy feeling in my mouth. So overall I learned that being lazy and not walking to the Ferry Building for Humphrey Slocombe means you deserve waxy, flavorless ice cream.

TIRAMISUCUPCAKE: OOOO Need I explain myself more. This was delivered to me as a surprise without any explanation, so at first I thought it was a vanilla cupcake. One lick of the creamy mascarpone frosting and I knew this was not the same as the vanilla cupcakes you get by the dozen from Safeway for birthday celebrations at elementary school. The cocoa powder dusting added a playful touch. Okay so tasty frosting is typical of good, non-Safeway cupcakes, and I expected the wow factor of the cake to rapidly diminish much like muffin tops. Unexpectedly, the cake itself was delightfully moist and fresh. Then I reached the center and my tiramisu suspicions were confirmed when I hit the rum and espresso soaked ladyfingers. I am usually not much of a cupcake fan, but I went head over heals for Cako’s tiramisu cupcake, which I thought was on par with some of the best actual tiramisu I’ve had: complex, intense, and heavenly. It’s more sweet than I’d like(too bad you can’t ask for 30% sugar like milk tea), but hits the spot if you are craving dessert. Bonus points for the superb packaging – it was both beautiful and sturdy, keeping my surprise cupcake perfectly intact after I carried it around for the afternoon before inhaling it.

Much better than the Westfield Mall and Metreon locations! Fresher and more variety of cupcakes available! Yes, they’re $ 3.50-$ 3.75 a cupcake, but that’s the going rate for cupcakes in this city. Love the Strawberry Cheesecake and the Tiramisu. Haven’t personally tried the donuts but I’ve been told they’re good. Great option for a small dessert/snack.

Stopped here after watching a movie. They have a lot of unique flavors it was hard to pick one but I went with the Samoans flavored cupcake. Very sweet, light and tasted just like a Samoa cookie! Yum! $ 3.50 for one cupcake Service was good but I felt rushed

We came here after seeing a couple with a bag of mini cupcakes. They walked past us on the sidewalk as we were on a quest for a snack. We came here and I ordered 3 macarons: thin mint, mango, and cookie butter. They were just OK… Nothing spectacular and I probably would never come back here for them. The mango one was good but it had these sprinkles that tasted like pop rocks on top of it. The cookie butter tasted like gingerbreads — so if you like that flavor then you’ll like it. I think Trader Joe’s cookie butter is much better tasting. The thin mint, I went on the employee’s recommendation! I didn’t like it much, but I think it’s because it felt like I just brushed my teeth after eating it. My fiancé had 2 cupcakes: strawberry cheesecake and the Samoa! He really liked the Samoa because he loves Girl Scout cookies and it tasted just like it, mostly the frosting. The strawberry cheesecake he liked, but I asked if it was because he was hungry? He said it was good. We usually get cupcakes from Kara’s. What he likes about Cako is that they have more unique flavors. I don’t like that they don’t offer any gluten free cupcakes, just macarons for $ 2 each. I have had better macarons elsewhere so I won’t be back for that. However, they had some interesting and unique flavors. The size of their cupcakes were much bigger than Kara’s cupcakes, but there’s something to say about quality over quantity. I had a bite of the Samoa cupcake and it tasted like white cake with frosting that tasted exactly like the Girl Scout cookies! Such a yummy taste! Here’s your spot to hit up if you’re craving for that flavor when the Girl Scouts aren’t out. You can get a Samoa cupcake and a thin mint macaron! Hopefully they’ll implement at least one gluten free cupcake offering. Sprinkles has the red velvet gluten free cupcake and Kara’s has a few to choose from, which are all amazing. Cako, please get in the kitchen and make some unique amazing gluten free cupcakes, even if they’re just the mini size :)

I’ve honestly never been to Cako. Everything I’ve tried here has been because someone gifted me treats at work. This was another instance where we were sent cupcakes at work. The classics mini cupcake dozen set: *Red velvet *Strawberry cheesecake *Vanilla sprinkles *Rich & famous My pic is of half the dozen as our dozen was split into two boxes. I tried the strawberry cheesecake. Light and fluffy and not too sweet, with the delicate flavor of strawberry and cream cheese. Perfect as an afternoon snack. And the perfect size for me! The mini cupcakes are a great treat when my sweet tooth gets the best of me. I’ve also been eyeing their macarons for some time. I definitely need to finally stop by and try them.

I love getting sweet treats from here! The cupcakes are soft, moist, and not too sweet. I recommend the salted caramel, s’mores, and red velvet cupcakes. The s’mores cupcake has an especially light and fluffy frosting truly reminiscent of marshmallows I enjoyed. The macarons aren’t as sophisticated in flavor as ones you’d find elsewhere, but they’re nonetheless tasty enough! Pistachio, rose, Thai tea, and white peach are my favorite flavors for their depth and sweetness. Other flavors like fruity pebbles, red velvet, cookie butter, and mango are tasty but come off too sweet and artificial for me. Employees here are as sweet as the items they sell. The prices as well as there flavors here definitely make Cako an indulgence, but they’re worth a visit if you’re looking for a sweet treat!
