I have worked in the small business environment for over 10 years as a technical support specialist for offices ranging in size from 10 to 100 people. In 2009 I started Demshar IT Consulting to focus on helping small businesses make IT work for them, so they can focus on their core business.

Technology does not have to be difficult – I believe in keeping solutions effective and simple. I am patient and people-​oriented, and I like to be on the same page with my clients when crafting solutions to technological hurdles.

After 3 days of attempting to fix my hard drive, he gave it back… (STILL BROKEN). After convincing him it was still broken, he took my laptop back, didn’t respond to my calls, and returned it a week later still UNUSABLE. His services do not guarantee success as his invoice informed me. Take a chance if you like, however I’d rather buy a new computer before wasting money on Mr. Demshar.

I love working with Jon: he’s prompt, super-​professional, knows what he’s doing (and isn’t arrogant when dealing with a naïf like me) and gets the job done. I’ve used him twice now, and soon to use him again, and each time he’s delivered the goods. I highly recommend Jon for any IT need a home user or small business might have. A+

Once again … Jon came through for my home office consulting business when my printer died. He quickly determined after a thorough effort to revive it (guess those Kodak printers are not ll they were hyped to be .but it had lasted about 2 – 3 years) that we needed a replacement. He researched it and determined he could buy it locally and save time, so within a couple of days were were back up and printing, scanning and faxing to our heart’s content… and all for a very reasonable price

Jon was awesome in getting my Windows 8 machine to accept all of the improvements I was trying to install into it. The Lenovo OEM build proved to be a bigger pain in the neck than either one of us could have anticipated, but Jon stuck with it and took care of everything.
He is super patient, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful in trying to diagnose things over email. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to have a computer serviced, updated, or created from scratch — Mac or PC.

I know five stars seems a bit inflated nowadays, but Jon has earned every one of them in my book.
Last year our beloved 5 year old Toshiba laptop finally crapped out on us. Jon not only came to my house, I had a newborn to tend to, but he also patiently searched for a way to bring back our Toshiba. It was not to be. He then came back when we had bought our new computer to help set it up.
Since then I have had a few hiccups here and there, and contacted Jon via email and he answered all of my questions in a timely fashion without hesitation. Our new computer has not fared as well and when I asked for a second opinion — I had taken it to where I bought it hoping they would have a solution for me — Jon willingly gave me the second opinion and some more advice on purchasing yet another new computer.
Jon is the first ‘computer guy’ I have worked with that is so accommodating, helpful and generous. He never makes you feel inept because you haven’t a clue what is going on with your computer, he just does what he can to help you.
I couldn’t reccommend Jon more.

Jon is super great! I don’t know enough to tell about what happened except that there was scareware, catastrophic hard drive failure, and things generally going to hell in a handbasket. Jon cleaned it up, found the data, and was really responsive and professional about the whole thing. His fee is totally reasonable for the service provided, in my view. You won’t be disappointed!

I used Jon’s services just yesterday, and am extremely satisfied with his computer/​technical expertise. He actually worked with two computers at once… on a PC desktop that had been hacked, and my MacBook laptop which had been running slow… and both are operating just perfectly now. I’d recommend him highly, and will certainly contact him again should I have any problems with my IT needs.

Jon definitely lives up to his 5-​star rating. The screen on my MacBook was shorting out and Jon was able to get it fixed overnight. When I called him to explain the problem, he immediately knew what the possible issues were and clearly explained what he planned to do to investigate the problem. I left my laptop with him that afternoon and it was fixed by 10am the next morning. Who else out there has that kind of customer service??? He was responsive, informative, friendly and very professional. I would high recommend Jon!

Jon is a great guy. When my hard drive died a couple weeks back, he offered to take a look at it and try to recover the data from it. He said he would only charge if he was successful. Unfortunately for me, he was unsuccessful so all my data went down the drain. But, he was true to his word, and although he had my computer for a full day and I am sure spent a few hours trying things, he did not charge me for his work. When I have another computer issue, I will be sure to take it back to Jon. Although he did not charge me for this service, his services are still very resonable. He also offers free phone and email consulations/​appraisals for issues you may have. Thanks Jon!

Definitely one of the best IT support people I’ve ever used. It was immediately clear that Jon knew what he was talking about and solved a tricky problem very quickly.
My fonts were haywire with wildly varying sizes on the same page and overlapping text. Jon easily identified several possible culprits causing the problem and walked me through the steps until my system was back to normal. He didn’t charge me for the help, although I would have gratefully paid!

Jon is fantastic! We called him to troubleshoot our acting-​up network three weeks ago, and his dedication to this project has been phenomenal.
He made careful, deliberate, and well-​informed decisions that were sensitive to the needs of our office. Where I wanted to just throw money at the problem on new equipment, Jon tried every solution to make sure we solved the underlying issues with a minimum of expense to the company.
He has put in time and effort well beyond what we have paid him for, and has followed up thoroughly and consistently to make sure that things are still running smoothly. And at this point, they are! We have a well-​functioning network.
We plan to use Jon for all our future IT projects and issues, and I DEFINITELY recommend that you do the same.

My business email crapped out, which totally sent me into a panic. After two days of trying to figure it out myself, I gave up, and turned to Unilocal for some advice. It was 10pm, and Jon was offering free email/​phone consultations, so I gave it a shot.
He wrote back promptly with free advice on how to fix it myself, and offered to make himself available if I needed to use his services. Lo and behold, his directions worked, and now my email is up and running!
So I have not actually used his services. But the fact that Jon would offer free advice that actually works tells me that he’s running a straight-​forward, honest business– exactly the sort of business I can trust my computer to!
Update: We just came back from a trip overseas, and wouldn’t you know it– the computer crapped out! As soon as I turned the computer on, a giant «FAIL» came up on the screen and would not go away. So we called up Jon, who came over and fixed it, likety-​split! He’s like Geek Squad, only better, faster, cheaper, nicer, and local!

Jon Demshar is an awesome IT consultant!
I recently ran into a bit of a problem with my trusty old G4 powerbook… it was experiencing intermittent bootup failures and I thought it was on the brink of death. I needed to copy over the contents to my new MacBook Pro, but was crunched on time to do so. A friend of mine recommend Jon one afternoon, and that night I was able to drop my two computers off with Jon.
I picked both computers up the next morning. The MacBook had all my software & files from my old computer, and Jon recommended a couple places I could send in my Powerbook for hardware repair. I haven’t had the time to fix the Powerbook, but my new MacBook is running like a charm.
The nice part was that I never experienced a delay in my workday, which was the most important to me. If you have any IT problems, I’d highly recommend Jon Demshar to fix them.

My 3 year old Dell laptop was running really slowly and the mouse had a serious lag. I gave Jon a call and he was very flexible in setting up a meeting time and place with me (he’ll come to you!). He planned to do a standard one hour tune-​up, but when he still hadn’t been able to fix the mouse issue at the end of that time he kept working. I could tell he wouldn’t be happy until he figured it out, which he finally did. I really appreciated him sticking with it until he solved the problem, and he only charged me for the first hour. Very nice and professional– I will definitely use him again!

Thank goodness for Jon! I have no computer knowledge whatsoever and it is really hard to know who to trust. Jon completely repaired my precious computer and was so nice and friendly. He backed up all of my data and also instructed me on the best ways to keep the newly-​clean system running at its optimum level. My two-​year old laptop is now running three times faster than before!
