Fossil Faux Studios creates the highest quality, functional artisanal resin work for interior and exterior spaces. We enjoy collaborating directly with designers, architects and end clients to put a creative fingerprint on their architectural and home renovation projects by creating what is needed aesthetically, conceptually and physically for each individual project.

Our unique 3-​layer resin product offers exceptional beauty, durability, renewability and customization. Our custom work is great for a myriad of applications including counter/​bartops, tabletops, stair treads, flooring, handrail panels, wall cladding, feature walls, partitions, shower enclosures, to name just a few.

In our efforts to be as sustainable as possible, we also offer a Liquidation/​Reclamation Program where we sell our seconds, project overruns, samples and buy back credits at significantly discounted prices.

History

Established in 1998.

Fossil Faux Studios first began with a popular line of resin cabinet pulls using recycled computer components embedded in the resin. The business quickly grew to offer larger, functional furniture and architectural interior installations for the home owner as well as designers and architects.

Now, Fossil Faux Studios concentrates on creating the most beautifully sophisticated, functional resin work worldwide for both residential and commercial use with their unique 3-​layer resin that gives unparalleled beauty, durability and renewability to every project.

Business Owner

Marcia Stuermer is the principal of and creative force behind Fossil Faux Studios, an innovative San Francisco art studio that is commissioned world wide for architectural installations. She is also a renowned visual artist who transforms resin in combination with other materials into thought-​provoking and stimulating studio work and public art installations. Whether in her conceptual studio artwork, her imaginative architectural applications, or her dynamic site-​specific art installations, Stuermer captures an ethereal sense of delicately frozen animation in her work that is beautifully integrated into powerful visual and conceptual statements.

I was just walking by and saw these neat looking iPad stands in the window. They were made of a clear resin type material with stuff melted inside i.e. grass. I walked in and had the pleasure of meeting Marcia and learning more about all her cool products. They are endless. She makes everything from custom countertops to tables to chairs to public art installations and stuff for bars. Basically she can embed any item in this resin material. The result is some really cool looking stuff. Next time I’m in the area I will post a picture. Check it out.

Marcia Stuermer is a fantastic designer and Fossil Faux is a great business. My wife and I worked with Marcia to design a green resin counter top with embedded leaves and computer chips. Marcia is such a perfectionist that she recast the piece a second time due to some very minor imperfections. Our finished countertop is gorgeous. We’ve had it in our house for over 8 years now, and it looks as clean and new as the day we installed it. I’ve also purchased various resin off-​cuts from Marcia and built small art pieces with them. Marcia runs a great business.

The designs are quite varied and flexible, and the choice of types of furniture/​objects seems to be able to satisfy nearly anyone’s needs. Nothing quite like this anywhere else. My absolute favorite wedding gift received to date is a Lazy Susan from Fossil Faux Studios. The matte finish of the resin is wonderful to the touch and pleasing to the eye. The piece is practical while at the same time makes a statement in any setting (we keep it handy on our coffee table, where we eat dinner.) This is my first piece by Marcia, and I am certain I will be collecting more of her creative work in the future. Interesting, original, and each piece is unique!

I recently commissioned a dining table from Fossil Faux Studios after years of admiring this work, and I could not be more thrilled. Designer Marcia Stuermer created the perfect vehicle for displaying my great grandmother’s hand-​made doilies, mixing in some modern pieces for contrast. The exact process was was worked out in advance in a gorgeous sample, which I still have and now use as a lazy susan! The entire process working with Marcia and her company was professional and smooth, the fabrication is flawless, and the surface is the easiest possible finish to live with, making this piece of art a durable and practical piece of furniture.
It has been my pleasure to recommend Fossil Faux to my own clients and I have seen firsthand many incredible installations which are always beautifully finished.
