Fruition Day Spa

Without warning, they are closed now. I had about $ 25 left on my gift certificate. Could have gotten myself a decent kitty wax but boo.
Should I continue with my review or no?
Why the hell not?
Love this place for their sensitive parts waxing. They use numbing sprays before workin on ya. That makes things a little less rough while they are yanking away.
I got a hot stone massage once and it did nothing for me. I had crazy ass knots to a side of my shoulder, not only did my masseuse didn’t dig deep enough to try to resolve it, but she didn’t even address it. i understand that it’s not possible to get rid of all knots and kinks especially since i dont get massaged often. but at least tell me you tried and let me know what needs to be done next time so i can get rid of them. all she said to me was that she’ll be waiting outside with a drink to keep me hydrated. okay. i do need to get hydrated so thanks. dont get me wrong, she was nice but i didn’t get what i needed from the massage.
but i guess that’s that since they’re gone now.

I LOVED this spa. I went there for many massages and faciels as well as used their tanning bed. I am dissapointed that they are closed, but further saddened that I have a 150.00 gift card that my husband bought for me in May, and there is no way to honor that expense.

So upset! I have a $ 100 gift card that was given to me as a gift for my birthday, for any of their spa services, and no I can’t use it. :(So bummed and no way to recuperate the service/​money for the gift.

Man they suck! The close without even notifying customers that have bought credit with them. I lost all my credit.

This place used to be my go to place for a great airbrush tan. But I went two times in the past couple of months and they had changed their tanning solution. And it just isnt the same anymore. One time I went back and had to get a refund because the tan didnt develop at all. And the second time I was just not as dark as I usually get when I order a level 3. I love their staff, location, and I used to love the airbrushing. I really really hope they go back to their original solution!

I got a… wait, let me rephrase that, my husband got a Homerun coupon for this place. After many arguments and discussions I agreed to go get a brow and brazilian. I was insecure because I am not a petite woman, and wasn’t wild about splaying myself out for a complete stranger to wax. Never you mind my fear of actually having my nether regions buttered with hot wax, then stripped clean. Alas, I agreed to go. I do not remember the woman’s name. But she was not very friendly. When I told her WHY I had agreed to have a wax done (for my husband), she told me that she just didn’t understand, and «I’m one of the lucky ones who has a husband who enjoys hair.» This was completely inappropriate given her chosen profession!
She spent nearly half an hour on my brows – in complete silence, as she needed to concentrate. It was very uncomfortable – not physically, I’ve had my brows done regularly for years – but the absolutely silence, and nothing but the sound of her breathing.
When she moved onto my brazilian, she was anything but gentle. She pulled and tugged and made me ‘lift my stomach’ in order to pull the wax properly. Perhaps this is what is supposed to happen, but jeez, it was insensitive and made me even LESS comfortable than I was already. I opted to skip the back part because she had already made me feel bad enough for expecting her to wax me. When she was done, she pointed to a bottle of some oil on the counter and said, «You can clean yourself up with that if you see any wax…» then she left. Uhh?
As I was leaving, I noted the crappy upkeep of the interior. The door frame was not painted thoroughly. Just not the nice, upscale kind of salon I prefer to use.
The job was shoddy. There were still stray hairs everywhere. Within 24 hours I had 4 ingrown hairs. In 4 – 5 days, I already had hair growing back. It was absolutely NOT worth the emotional discomfort of being in this room alone with this woman who thought I was cow-​towing to my husband’s desires. The waxing hurt like a bitch – and I believe she could have been MUCH MORE GENTLE. 2 weeks later, and it’s all growing back and prickly.

Bought a homerun deal for my girlfriend’s bday gift, didnt get to do any of the services there, just accomplained her, but while sitting there and observing the clients coming in and out, they seem to be regulars of the spa. The staff were friendly, and the waiting area was cozy and nice. It was filled with small dove milk chocolate, cucumber water and a refreshing tea.
Per my friend’s comment of the spa, it was a nice place, but yet it was a bit pricey for brazilian and eyebrow waxing. But the technican that did her eyebrow waxing did a excellent job, I believe her name was Kim.

This is my neighborhood spa. They’re always able to squeeze me in for a last minute appointment and usually have some sort of weekday deals. The facials & massages are pretty good here and I’ve probably tried all of their estheticians and masseuses. I had to knock a star off for my most recent go at their airbrush tan. I was heading to Vegas for the weekend and needed some color over my pasty legs. They got me in the day before and I stood in a makeshift booth– it looked like an old camping tent crammed into a storage room. So there I stood while being sprayed down by Athena who tried to make me feel as comfortable as any one could in the situation. When were all done, she told me that my tan would develop 4 – 5 shades in the following hours an to not shower for 8 – 10 hours. It was 1:30pm when I finished so I decided to just shower in the morning before I left for Vegas.
So when I get to Vegas, an entire 26 hours later, nothing ever developed! Herve Leger and pasty legs are a fashion DON’T!!! Luckily, my Vegas BFF took me to a CVS where I got my trusty tan in a bottle. So I called the spa right away and they were apologetic. When I got back to SF and contacted a manager, they credited my card back. Kudos to them for great customer service in rectifying the problem!

Great place to book a deep tissue. The review covers only my service with Fruition and general aesthetics of the spa.
The +‘s:
+ Leila gave me a super deep tissue massage for 80 minutes for $ 125. I was surprised at how strong and deep she could penetrate my muscles which were seriously jacked. She pinpointed the problem areas with ease. And I like super deep tissue which means major pain to work out a kinked muscle. She can do it!
+ Timely. My time slot started without any delays.
+ Ample parking. West Portal isn’t a zoo even on a Saturday afternoon. I found residential parking without running in circles.
+ Reception area is nice and quiet with typical array of beauty and gossip magazines to peruse if you arrive early or must wait.
+ Treatment room had nice cubby holes to shove my crap. Nice and dim to put me into sleep mode. Bed fairly toasty and a welcome respite to SF’s fog.
The -‘s:
— W. Portal is out there for me but again, parking is fine.
I give 5 stars for spas that serve me drinks, provide edibles, wrap me in warm white robes, slip sandals on my feet and whisk me to a quiet room to nap. None of these amenities are provided to keep the prices low at Fruition. For example, Burke Williams Spa offers all the fluff and an 80 min deep tissue for $ 190. If you can do without all that fluff then save $ 65 and go to Fruition.
In general I would come here again but if it’s a girls’ spa day I don’t think this place works. Overall I am glad to have found a great massage therapist.

I was gifted an 80-​minute hot stone massage to Fruition. As much as I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, I cannot give this day spa a higher rating. Our first choice (international orange) was booked for the day so I chose Fruition based on the rave reviews on Unilocal.
Fruition’s amenities consist of a tightly packed lobby, one bathroom, no changing area & a short hallway of treatment rooms.
My therapist, Leila (completely sweet, if not a little too chatty), led me into my darkened room & left me to undress & get settled facedown on the warm massage table. She was gone for quite a stretch of time – 10 minutes, I assume – which I knew was cutting into my pampering time. She also abruptly ended my massage 5 minutes early, judging from her timer. She had just started massaging my scalp when she announced time was up.
As for the hot stone massage itself, I’ve had my fair share of this type of massage & thought she could have incorporated more hot stone action into our time together (no long strokes on my back & I don’t remember her using them on my arms at all.)
Between the somewhat rickety massage table, the not-​so-​thorough massage & tiny, unimpressive space, it wouldn’t be difficult to find a better day spa in the city. The only upside: parking is fairly easy in West Portal. I cannot recommend Fruition…2.5 stars for them but an infinite amount of glowing stars (& gratitude) to the person who brought me here.

This little spa is the epitome of lovely and Athena is an absolute goddess, goddess of Brazilians. I don’t actually get it, but she makes Brazilians relatively painless. I’ve been seeing her for about three years now and she is consistent, awesome at what she does and fun to talk to. Oh, and she also does great brows.
I’ll just chalk it up as another win for West Portal and why I love my neighborhood.

I’m incredibly particular when it comes to massages. I’m down to try new places, always looking for something great. And there always seems to be a new spa around every corner now in SF.
I got a good deal from Homerun, $ 45 for $ 100 worth of spa services. I originally called to book a 60 minute Swedish massage, but opted for the 60 minute hot stone massage at the last minute.
I live nowhere near West Portal, so I had quite the adventure getting to Fruition, even though it’s very easy to find, and parking is a cake walk (both metered and free 2-​hour parking within 2 blocks).
So on to the actual massage: Sarah was phenomenal. Greeted me and directed me into the room. She was nice, although didn’t really ask what my problem areas were or if I had any pain or sensitive areas. The actual massage was great, she worked out some knots and tension, and was careful around placing stones that weren’t too hot in sensitive areas.
One thing Fruition should work on is updating their prices and services online, because a $ 60 minute hot stone massage online = $ 100, but in fact it’s $ 115.
I would love to come back, regardless of how far they are from me.

My husband and I LOVED our massages at Fruition! I had Layla and he had Kimberly, both were fantastic. The therapists were like the establishment itself… seasoned. The place sure could use a touch-​up, but who can even notice the small peels on the floorboards when under the masterful hands of Layla or Kimberly? Layla hit all my pressure points exactly, applying just enough pressure to relieve tension yet not leaving me sore the next day (as less experienced therapists often do). I can’t say enough great things about my massage, even 2 days afterward, I was still feeling loose and relaxed.
I found a deal on Homerun and I hope they have another deal soon. :D

One of the BEST massages I have ever had from Sarah! She was so young, when I waled in I was worried but not need — she worked on me and found all the trouble spots I didn’t even know i had :)
This was my first time there and I’m so glad to find a place near SF State to get massages that a poor student like me can afford.
The only reason it’s not a 5 star review is that the ambiance is not as deluxe as I would want a 5 star to be — nothing wring with it, it’s in a converted house type building so narrow hallways and small rooms. But clean as a whistle; smells nice and the staff couldn’t be more helpful.
I will be back!

I love fruition for all it’s about. The receptionist is so nice, they checked-​in with me over the phone since I was running late to my latest appt.
I have seen 2 different girls now, both for brazilian waxing. The service is great, they take their time & you can choose to chat or not. They listen to what you want & make it as painless as possible.
This spa can be a bit pricey but it’s great if you can afford it. Their PFB product for ingrowns & all that is great. Really works better than other stuff.

Whenever I need some kind of body waxing, I come here! I’ve tried the different, bikini waxings here and love the wax Fruition uses. It’s the dark, purply, tar looking one. There is so much less pain with it.
The staff is very nice and you feel serene just waiting in the waiting room. I miss Sarah V as she and I had nice chats about life.

I’ve been stressed out and tired lately, so my friends and family talked me into trying doing a spa day. I was a bit nervous since i’ve never been to a spa before and didn’t really know what to expect.
I came in and the receptionist/​manager, Angie, greeted me. She was very friendly and filled me in on how everything works which calmed my nerves a bit. (ironic how i stress out even when going to a spa huh. lol)
my therapist was very nice and she answered all my questions i had about the treatment. i was a bit antsy at first but i loosened up and eventually fell asleep. she woke me up and iw as like what?! 90 min gone already! even though i dont know much about massages, i agree with everyone when they say she is one of the best!
i was also very happy with my facial, although i really wasnt expecting the extracting part! my anesthetist (is that what u call it? i totally dont know the spa lingo, so work with me here.) was very nice and comforting when she was squeezing out all my black heads. hahaha
she also did my eyebrows which came out a little bit too thin, but that’s partially my fault. i tweezed them too thin the week before. she did great considering what she had to work with.
overall, i highly recommend this place. they made my 1^st spa treatment a great one! i’ll be back next month!

To be 100% honest… I’m not really a day spa kind of guy. I’m more of a love ‘em and leave ‘em type, pay my $$ and get in and out. In this instance though I was recommended to the spa by my gf, who spoke very highly of the services. And then dragged my sorry, sore ass down there.
The prices are very reasonable and the services are awesome! I always get Layla for massages, she makes me feel like butter… which is a good thing if you didn’t know. Once, and I’m not proud of this… my gf tricked me into getting a facial here. I guess she was tired of always doing the maintenance on my face for me, so she paid the very talented Kim to take care o’ my mug-​but pretended I was going in for a massage. She was gentle and rough at the same time… which I kind of liked~ 0₀* Oh well, my face looked pretty good after that so I can’t complain. I just don’t want my friends to find out…

Been coming to this spa for a few years now, and I always recieve the pampering and princess-​type treatment that I deserve ~ they have a real committment to both service and value here.
I was so used to paying more for lesser quality that I was pleasantly surprised when a friend recommended the spa to me. Now I’ve since moved away but whenever I go home for a visit I make time to get my hooohaw waxed by Athena *hands of a goddess… get it? haha* and a facial with Kim O (she cleans out my pores like there’s no tomorrow!). When you find your «it» spot you gotta stick with it!
They typically have a cool special going on so I like to check the website for deals and steals!

I know I shouldn’t let one bad experience color my many previous experiences with Fruition, but I have to make my opinion known. For my last facial, one of my usual chicks was not available, so I tried someone new. HUGE mistake. During the facial, I didn’t think there would be a problem. Although, retrospectively, I realize I should have been worried when I heard what sounded like scissors cutting my skin?!! I am now dealing with the aftermath — multiple little scabs all over my face. WTF??? I now have to apply my concealer like spackle covering up holes in a wall until these scabs heal. The chick (Athena) told me that my skin would look great in a few days.. .well I’m still waiting! If my skin suddenly looks fabulous tomorrow or the next day, I will take this review down.
As for my coconut sugar body scrub w/​20-​minute massage, that was alright. The 2^nd half of the massage was better than the first half, since I told my lady that I needed her to give me more pressure. Yeah, I like it rough.
Fruition, I do love you guys, but I will be sticking to my regular person — Sarah. My skin looked fabulous after my facial with her! Too bad she only works Sundays!
