Specialties

We specialize in classic BBQ staples and secret recipes. Our favorite thing to cook is pork, especially ribs and pulled pork. We also offer specialty pork called Berkshire, a magnificent and carefully bred pig that yields extremely high-​quality meat. We cook our own BBQ sauce, our favorite variety being Bourbon-​Coffee. In terms of music, we like all kinds and welcome any requests. Funk N Chunk offers unrivaled values on outdoor event catering and DJ service.

History

Established in 2008.

After years of DJing together and cooking BBQ together, Jupiter Henry and Freddie Future established Funk N Chunk as a fully-​licensed catering company in early 2008. Since then, we have expanded our services and refined our menu in an effort to bring the most fun and affordable events possible to Bay Area individuals and companies.

Business Owner

Jupiter Henry owns and manages the catering side of Funk N Chunk (the «Chunk» so to speak). While Freddie Future leads DJ duties, promotes Funk N Chunk musically, and performs at local events and venues, Jupiter runs the kitchen and maintains the catering business itself. Together, the partners deliver engaging and exciting parties and performances all around the Bay.

Jupiter cooks southern-​style BBQ, most often served with Texas-​style tomato-​based BBQ sauce (sweeter, thicker, and sometimes more complicated than many of the vinegar or mustard-​based sauces of other famous BBQ states). In addition to the traditional BBQ, Jupiter enjoys cooking the backyard grill classics like hamburgers, hot dogs, corn, etc. Many clients find that a combination of his secret recipe dishes and classic backyard grillfare can please almost everyone on the list (of course, veggie burgers can be crucial as well sometimes).
