We are also the exclusive dealer for the Ann Hall Color Design Collection. These full spectrum colors designed by Ann Hall are unparalleled in their sophistication and complexity. History

Established in 1994.

G&R Paint Company was established in 1994 and purchased by Philip Reno in 1997. After 18 years as a professional painting contractor, colorist and decorative painter, Philip Reno brought his skills and vision to the retail paint market. G&R grew rapidly under his ownership as contractors, designers, and the DIY’ers discovered this uniquely independent business. In 2006 G&R Paint Company joined the Coatings Alliance, manufacturers of C2 Paint products. G&R Paint is the exclusive dealers of Philip’s Perfect Colors, Philip Reno’s full spectrum palette of colors.

Awesome people, best color choices on the market. Finest paints, including metallics and glazes. Top notch place, I love C2 and Philips perfect colors. If you have questions as to what colors to paint your house, this is the place to find the best answers.

I came here at the recommendation of a friend who used this store previously and loved it. I had barely looked at color samples and didn’t know where to start so I was happy to go someplace to get some guidance and quality paint.
I went on a weekday morning around 9am and the place was filled with contractors and painters, definitely not individual consumers shopping around like myself (or at least it didn’t seem like it). So suffice to say, I didn’t get much help from staff as far as what paints to choose. I think all of the available staff were at the back counter registers ringing people up. My friend was basically the only one guiding me in types and brands of paint.
Nevertheless, we walked out with four sample colors and a roller, but not with any help from this particular store or its staff.
If you need more guidance, or consultation, perhaps going at a different time may be more helpful, but unless you were in the paint business, my impression was that this was sort of an overrated store.
I’m sure places like Home Depot are the bottom of the rung for those in the paint business, but at least I know what I’m getting for my money. Not sure if I can say the same here.

I believe this store is now Creative Paints and just have to say what a great store it is. Justin goes above and beyond to help you. We have followed Justin from another store because he has really helped us with custom colors and his customer service is way above the 5 stars given here. If anyone is looking for quality paints this is the store, they have a wide variety of paints and colors. They are incredibly helpful with colors and take the time to work with you to make sure you are satified!!!

These guys have an excellent selection of paint and supplies and their customer service is exceptional. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and if anything isn’t right, they go above and beyond to make it right.
In a recent instance, I ended up with the wrong color paint due mostly to my own error but Philip was good enough to refund my money AND tell me I should actually have purchased paint from a different store in the first place. I was buying paint for touch-​up and he recommended I go with the maker of the original paint instead of a color match in one of the lines he carries. If that isn’t striving for 100% customer satisfaction, I don’t know what is.

This is a great paint store. It did not seem noticeably more expensive than any of the big box stores (Home Depot, etc.) and the service is 100 times better. Phil patiently sat with me while I reviewed my options. I was thinking of painting my bedroom gray but the giant poster board sizes of paint chips he had quickly dissuaded me of that. On a tiny chip it looked ok — in a big format it looked like concrete! I never would have realized until I got it up on the walls without his big format paint samples.

This is the best paint store I have ever seen and I have seen many.
I was a contractor for fourteen years and for ten plus years I have been selling wiping rags to paint stores.
Trust me, you will be glad you made the trip to G&R.

Great paint store if you’re looking for a place in the city. Everyone that worked here was super helpful and told us what type of paints we should be getting and how much paint to get as well. We liked that they had the option of getting paints that were non toxic as well since we are painting a nursery.

I love this paint store. If you’re looking for really good quality paint and service to match, this is where you should go. You will not find cheap, watery paint that is in abundance at hardware stores. The owner has his own colors that can only be described as creamy and delicious. They are so good that they can in many cases, cover your walls in one coat. And forget about paint swatches that are 1“x1″ — they have swatches that are about as big as two 8.5“x11″ pieces of paper put together.
If you’re not sure about what colors you want, or need a recommendation for a specific product, they are there to help you. If you’re gearing up for your next painting project, everything you need is at this store.

What can I say? Why would someone in Baton Rouge Louisiana work with someone in San Francisco to select paint colors for every surface in her home? Simple answer –Philip Reno is «The Paint Whisperer!!!» He has a sixth sense about color and the colors you can get through his shop are the most beautiful I have ever seen!
Via sending text messages, email and the old telephone it was a breeze. Do not miss the experience to work with a master.

Great paint selection and Philip’s Perfect Colors are especially user friendly, as there aren’t 10,000 colors and shades to choose from. But, if you want to mix your own colors, Philip is really helpful and knowledgeable.

Philip and his team are great! They are very knowledgeable about products, and won’t steer you wrong. Their turnover is low, so you deal with the same staff every time you go in, and they are well trained and helpful. They carry good product lines, including newer brands like C2 and Mythic, as well as old standards like Cabots, and Pratt and Lambert. Excellent with colors. Parking is usually not a problem.

I am a painting contractor in the San Francisco Bay Area, and G&R is my preferred paint store.
This paint store carries a wide variety of paint from Middle to High End.
From $ 30– $ 100 per gallon.
~The owner formulates/​makes his own paint colors.
~Their color matching ability is tops.
~The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
~They employ a color specialist for in store customer consult.
Many features I could go on about, but in my opinion G&R is true to my rating.

I am so pleased with this place! I will never go back to the hardware store for paint again.
I brought in a sample of the wallpaper I’m about to put up in my dining room, and they not only matched paint for the kitchen but made suggestions for accent colors that I would have never thought of.
My kitchen looks amazing!
A word of caution, though, only go to this place if you have a lot of time. The color specialist takes her time with each customer, so you have to wait for your turn. It’s so worth it, though.

I moved into my new apartment and had a vision. I went to many paint stores in search of a guru that would help me realize my dream, alas, to be ignored and given no advice other than, «The paint chips are over there…»
Then a friend told me about G&R! (And get this, they are two blocks from me.) I went in and they were the gurus I was after. I even took in my 50s pink princess phone and they helped me find that shade. Even with vague requests, they helped me narrow down to the right shade.
I would suggest, if you have a color sample or something to give them an idea of the color you’re after, it helps a lot.
I will not go to any other paint store. This is the place to go.

Very clean interior and very helpful staff. I knew what I wanted so they didn’t really need to assist me much, but they were very nice and struck up conversation while I was waiting for my paint to mix. A little pricey but they were quick.

G & R Paint is a quality paint store, but they are not open past 5pm, nor on weekends, which I find to be inconvenient and frankly, the reason I don’t purchase paint/​supplies from them. I work weekdays and don’t get off work until 5pm. They open at 7am, but who can make color choices at that hour?!? I can’t believe I’m the only one who would patronize their establishment if they were open on Saturday, if not Sunday, at least. Lots of people dyi or want to check out decorating options on the weekend.

I like to go here to get my wall painting. The staffs here are very knowledgeable and friendly. I remembered, on my 1st project they gave me advice which paints and brushes to use for certain materials. Don’t want to be cheap; especially it’ll be on your wall for years to come.

A most excellent paint store. Very subdued and knowledgable staff — they even helped me pick out my colors.
Don’t even bother going anywhere else. Brownies is too busy, Home Depot is a nightmare (try to find someone to help you there). All the paint at G&R is good and the sales person actually told me which types were easiest to work with.
Stores like this are why we live in the city.

Grandma’s Sweater, Black Coffee, Carrot Cake… aaahhh such a nice visit to Grandma’s house… or you could be at G&R Paint Company.
Colors, colors everywhere. I’ve been going to G&R for 7+ years now and it’s the place you go to when you need paint for your home. A really nice collection of colors to choose from and a knowledgeable staff to help you out if you need it.
YOU could always go to Home Depot and deal with those idiots if you want.
