Harold Day Telecom Tech

Harold did a great job of running cat5 from our upstairs bedroom to the downstairs bedroom/​main floor. He came over once to assess and tell me about how big the job was, was flexible on options, and also very transparent about any potential issues. In the end, he did a masterful job of concealing the cable so it’s hardly visible. We now have solid wifi on our main floor and the few hours of work was very reasonable in terms of cost. Highly recommend Harold and we are going to definitely have him back soon to do more work wiring other parts of the house!

I have now used Harold on two projects– two different homes — and both times he arrived as scheduled, assessed the needs I was hoping to accomplish and then present his EXPERT opinion as to how to tackle my wiring issues. He wired my home with CAT6 cabling, installed matching outlets/​plates and was able to tell me what wires are Hot or Dead. Cannot recommend him highly enough — improved the IT situation in my home in very short time. Converted old land line phone jacks in to data ports! Genius. He is a pro and an incredibly friendly individual! About to contact him for another project!!!

I needed a phone jack to be able to use
so I called Harold. It took me a while to get a hold on him but he fitted me into his schedule. He told me if he only needed to put the phone jack or something simple like that he most likely will spend 1.5 hour and that his rate is $ 50 p/​h. Of course the bill would increase if he needed to order cables or other materials. So I said: Make senses! Cool, come to my house!
He came, spent 45 mins installing the phone jack and charged me $ 100 because his rate was $ 50per hr, with an hr and a half minimum, which is $ 75 hr. And he also added trip charges, parking and the wire he used to activate my line.
I think it was a fair price and I would recommend him to my friends.

Recently moved into a new apartment off Mission and had
DSL service installed — of course before realizing I had no operating phone jacks in my suite. Unilocal reviews directed me to Harold, and I booked him the morning of my move-​in day to troubleshoot and install a working line.
For $ 75 plus a jack and cable, he worked a direct line into my apartment, and was a pleasure to work with. He entertained a couple ideas I had for installing the line, even attempting multiple options to make sure the optimum result was accomplished.
Harold knew exactly what he was doing and helped me secure the fastest and most reliable Internet I’ve had in my life. I wholeheartedly recommend Harold and
DSL to anyone fortunate enough to be within reach of either of their services.

Harold was a great find for us. We are an IT company who needed a subcontractor and he came prepared with knowledge, expertise, and all of the tools imaginable for any voice-​and-​data job. He sticks it out until the job gets completed even into the late morning hours. We collaborated on a job in SF’s Financial District until 3 AM last night. Thank you Harold Day! Day or night he’s your guy. No pun intended.

Our ATT landline phone was dead — no dial tone, though we had working DSL. Could not seem to get a real person at ATT to schedule a repair appt. But our inside wiring was old and we had no way to test the connection into the house, so just to ensure that the problem was in ATT’s network, called Harold.
He came out a few hours later at an agreed time and carefully and expertly diagnosed the problem as an ATT failure in its system. Three days later, when we finally got an ATT tech out, ATT agreed and we’re now going through the process of ATT figuring out which part of its network is at fault. At least we have a working dial tone.
I was most impressed with Harold’s professionalism and willingness to get to the bottom of our problem and he even fixed a stuck jack. As well, his fee was completely fair. Would eagerly hire again whenever I had another telco or connectivity need. Harold deserves more than 5 stars.

We used Harold for our office network and telecom wiring install and he did a fantastic job, working late into the night to finish before our move the next day. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to work with a professional installer.

We had an outstanding experience with Harold.
We asked him to resolve our poor internet connection in the back of our house. He came really soon after I called, sized up the situation, and trouble-​shot everything. We were a little surprised he could deal with all our clutter, but he got right down to bringing Ethernet directly from the outside, through the garage, and up into the back office. Now our computer internet is running on a direct line and is blazing fast.
Harold is a really nice guy and good person. He knows his stuff and can figure anything out. We highly recommend him.

I gotta agree with all these fine words about Harold – quick and able, friendly, efficient and resourceful. Our old house has oodles of bizarre wires running through it and he cheerfully crawled up onto the roof and down to the basement to assess the situation.
We had all kinds of crazy ideas about the work we wanted, and though it meant less money to him, he convinced us that there was a simpler way to go.

I needed some phone wiring done in our house and found Harold on Unilocal.He was here in about 15 minutes (since he was in the neighborhood) and done before I knew it.
Fair price, great job executing and he has all the tools, which I don’t have, for telecom and low-​voltage wiring.
For those of you with Sonic, he is also on their list of good techs, so he’s pretty familiar with Sonic.
I would for sure use again.

Forget AT&T or Comcast!
I found Harold Day on Unilocal,and I’m adding my review to his growing list of accolades. My wife and I moved into a new condo that appeared to be wired with ethernet in all rooms. Except it didn’t work.
Harold showed up on time, assessed our setup, asked me a few questions, then walked through the pros and cons of a «quick and dirty» fix vs. a «real fix.»
He had everything working perfectly in less than an hour, and I gladly paid his minimum of $ 75 ($ 50/​hour with a 1.5 hour minimum).
Harold is the man I’ll call next time we need any more telecom wiring work.

We needed to wire a downstairs office directly to our router. Harold came over the day after we called, mapped out the best and least damaging path for the cable and boom, he was done in an hour. Great service and great work.

Harold Day is reliable, friendly, awesome at what he does, and quick. When I tried installing my DSL, turns out the phone line didn’t work when originally wired in the unit. So I needed someone to re-​run the phone wire into the apartment unit quick in the same day. Harold said he was available in the afternoon — sweet. FYI, he’s $ 50/​hr with 1.5 hours minimum, so minimum is $ 75 (not including materials).
He came and I was greeted by his friendly demeanor. Because of the simplicity of the job, we asked him to give us a firm price to complete the job, instead of going hourly. He told us $ 80 including all materials and was really nice about it. Surely enough, he finished within an hour and all the wires were nice and neat, and inside the house they were securely stapled to the edge of the wall. I’d also like to mention that during the consultation we had changed our minds several times on where we wanted the phone line to enter through the house from the outside. He was very accomodating even though a more complicated decision wouldn’t affect the firm price he had already set for us. In the end, we chose to have the line come in by the front door instead of through the garage, so it would be side-​by-​side with the TV/​cable jack. Turns out that it was simpler to do it that way anyway– whew. Otherwise we would have felt really bad.
At the end of the visit, I tested the DSL line and it was as good as new, and I was able to install my wireless internet very quickly. Also, the new phone jack was also labeled «DSL» on the outside of the box.
We would definitely use Harold again for any telecom issues. I know he also has other specialties… so be sure to ask him. I highly recommend Harold Day!

We’re in the process of renovating our building and needed someone to re-​route ethernet cabling connecting our work stations and server on the third floor to our shared printer on the first floor.
It seemed like a pretty straightforward job, but presented some challenges with the layout of our building and the existing cabling configuration, which honestly was a total mess.
I got a referral from our ISP, but their guy was a total flake. My next stop was Unilocal,where I found Harold Day.

Harold did a terrific job wiring my house for a second phone line and also installing CAT5 cables for data, as well as fixing an amateurish CAT5 wiring job that someone else did in part of the house. He’s conscientious, reasonably priced, and very detail-​oriented. He even labelled everything meticulously.
I’d absolutely hire Harold again and recommend him without qualification. He’s also an extremely nice guy.

I hired Harold to do a small wiring job — getting ethernet drops around a small office. He was super detailed and professional. He was friendly and he got the job done on time and his work was super neat and tidy. His hourly rate is super reasonable and he gave me a headsup when he thought he’d need a bit more time than initially estimated and gave excellent reasons for needing more time. When the project was finished I was surprised and delighted to get an invoice with discrete details of exactly all of the work completed. I really appreciate all of those attributes for wiring work.
